just looking at premiums/mid pricers you have a solid team. Personally I think d4 and f4 are the hardest positions to pick and havent personally backed swallow/gunston but a lot of people have and I can seen reasoning behind it. Try not to over think it and look at rookies closer to round 1  8)

Nice Looking team there Jayman.

Def: Interesting to see a team that dosen't have KK OR Mcdonald will Laidler be able to crack it into the back 6 time will tell. They other picks are very good.
Mids: Solid Mids here can't fault any of those cant comment on the Rookies.
Rucks Standard
Fwds:Hearing good things about Impey could be a great Cash Cow.Gunston can only improve on his scores.

Good looking team here strong on each line with good cash cows 8.5/10

Thanks for the feedback :) here is draft number 2... Have essentially stripped some cash from my backs + dropped Jack Martin in order to get an extra premium (Pavlich) into my fwd line.

Better than the last team? ;)

Hey jayman. I actually prefer first team.
But I would do this to it.

Bartel - S. Thompson.
Martin - Gordon.
Clarke - Fasolo.
Thomas - Rocky
Clarke - KennedyHarris.

How much would that leave you with?

Hey man, thanks for that. Sorting it out now, but just realised you got me trading out Clark twice. What did you mean by that? :)

Cheers!

Nice team Jayman.

Mate there are 3 certainties in life.

1. Death

2. Taxes

3. Sean Higgins will break down with injury

But at $254 600, I think he will make well over $100 000 before the dogs sendf him for an op to get him ready for 2015, so an inspired selection.  I put a black line thru Higgins about 3 years ago, but at that price he represents good value, and could be one of the better cash cows.

Good to see Luke Mac in the line up.

KK is the other player I really like. but there are a lot of good back options this year, so hard to fit them all in.  Last year defence was light on for good picks, but it seems the opposite this year.

Really like your fwds, (similar to mine).  Love Cyril at that price.  much like higgins, hes a good chance to break down, but hopefully some huge scores in between injuries.

I would also be F'ing off Missy. There are a ton of cheap forwards this season and you can save some cash by getting a guy under 200k like Ben Brown, Kersten, Banfield, Paine, Rohan, Blease, Williams, Bock or Kennedy-Harris (who is supposed to be pushing for a spot). Spencer White might also throw his name into contention after the end of the NAB challenge so that is another guy to keep your eye on. It will also free you up some cash to turn some of those mid rookies into guys like Michie and Beams

hmmm, good value but you would want to have some good rookie coverage. On the bright side, I guess that also makes him a good point of difference, much like Stevie J was last year.

If he holds together for 8 games he's done his job. Excluding 2013, he's played 17 games / 89 avg, 16/78, 18/83 & 19/80. Anything in the 80 region will be money well spent.

shower, may have to reconsider. Just think that he is worth the punt at that price. We all know he could go 95ppg in the right circumstances!

Have you looked at Luke Parker for around that price? Pav is the other one to consider if he looks fit and firing through the NAB

Hey mate your team very strong as always jayman the only thing that is letting you down is rioli who known for hammy problems And Higgins and both in forward line. Plenty of other option other then that rate 38/40 can u rate my team http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,89079.0.html

Have chucked him in for Cyril now, but may switch back over the course of the pre-season... 50% of my fwd premiums being Swans worries me a tad and have a gut feel with Cyril ??? Higgins is the other one that could go, may end up being a premium or a rookie by the time round 1 comes along but I do think he is the pick of the mid-pricers.
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014
Post by: Mat0369 on February 09, 2014, 12:37:03 AM
It is always a matter of time before Cyril's hamstrings go ping. I actually called it 5 minutes before it happened last year during the Eagles game. I don't think you can trust him for 22 games, he might be good to start the season but you would want to have a trade spare for the inevitable.

I was thinking about something the other day, would Higgins actually be in the Doggies best 22 anymore? Last year we saw the coaching staff phased Cross out of the team to blood the youngsters, they very well could do the same with Higgins. Considering he is made of glass he is an ideal vest candidate. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and get games into Hunter, Hrovat and the likes at the expense of Higgins. He would have to go the Gia route and be very open to starting with the green most weeks and being a burst player otherwise he may not be in the team at all.

A fit Missy is a shoe in for Doggies' best 22.

Hey jay man, you need to change a few of your rookies. Cutler and Fuller - Georgiou and Langdon. Hibberd has done his
Hammy and is out for a few IIRC. Not sure on Wingard, look at roughy

Hey ledge,

DEF Both LMac and Clurey on the field is pretty weak but quite a few teams will start doing this with all these defender rookies being named. My only concern is LMac is a good chance to cop vests and what happens to Clurey in a few weeks when Port get their missing defenders back. McVeigh, Mitchell and Simpson are great top end picks though and Suckers is a must at that price.

MIDS Can't fault this line mate. Good top end picks and rookies are perfect.

RUCKS Becoming a more common ruck combo now. Leuey is safe as houses and Sandi is great value.

FWDS Another good line. Danger, Roughead, Martin and Buddy are all strong picks. And both Higgins and Rohan are great value. Nothing wrong here. No Caddy though??

Nice team man. Can't really fault it except for fielding CLurey and LMac down back. But I think a few will start doing that now (I still won't be though)

Yeh it'd be more for his scoring potential. I've backed in Rohan to bounce back but he has pretty underwhelming so far

That's a very strong side man, I'd probably go Rohan to Taylor and upgrade Leunberger.

My rule is pretty much, don't trade a premium unless he has an LTI or a major change of role.

Think Luey comes under the role category, he won't be a premium if West is in the equation IMO.

Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014

Yeah think Leuey has to go, anyone's guess who the best option is. I'm downgrading him to Hampson so I don't have to choose between Goldy, Minson, Cox, and Mumford just yet :P
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014
Post by: Ricochet on April 11, 2014, 04:06:45 PM
I haven't seen enough of him to know how he's playing or what affect West has on him mate sorry. His BE is only 114 so if he keeps hitting 80-90s he'll only lose 20kish. Normally I'm not a fan of sideways trading premos but like I said, haven't really seen enough of him and West together.

Cheers :)

I would be looking at Berger to a prem Jay. Your choice of Minson, Cox or Mummy.  Not fussed on Goldy myself.  Thought playing 2 rucks would help Berger but does not appear to be the case.  May improve as they gel more.

Would also look at Rohan to Taylor - Taylor has a negative B/e so will make a little more money for you than Rowan.  With Brisbanes injury problems he should be safe for a while as well,

If Currie doesn't play, would you consider Mummy to Hampson, and Daisy to a premium mid? It's annoying that you only just brought Mumford in, but 3-4 weeks potentially without a 2nd ruckman could eally hurt.

Yep what Dave said but Hickey over Hampson due to bye.

Sorry about Mumford haha. But guess its better than Leuy 0 and 12 weeks as opposed to 1-2 weeks.

Yeah thats exactly what I'm thinking. Not going for overall or anything, so I can hold Mummy for a couple, but a month will start to sting! All depends on if Currie is named :)

Well I have no idea. 1-2 weeks keep him unless you are within a shot of overall. If you are Top 5k, I'd trade.

GWS site: 1-2 weeks
AFL site: 3-4 weeks

Hey Jayman, looks like we have very similar teams.

Mine below (bold is my difference players):
McVeigh Mitchell Simpson Suckling McDonald Langdon (Laidler Langford)
Ablett Pendlebury Watson Beams Tyson Polec Dunstan Ellis (Cunningham D.Thomas)
Sandy Hickey (Currie Derickx)
Dangerfield Martin Roughead Parker Higgins Fasolo (Rohan JKH)

So will be interested to see how your season turns out.
I am thinking of trading daisy>crouch, upgrade Langdon> Jench/Swallow or upgrade a mid rook early.

Have you thought about this?

Hey Carn! Good to hear from ya mate. Very similar! Great minds think alike ;)

Only problem with that is me already having Crouch. Not sure on any good downgrade options aside from him. Definitely thought about flicking Daisy though... Not happy with him!
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014

Hey Jay

I would sit this week as Daisy has a B/e that he can achieve so will not lose much cash at all. You could downgrade him to Sam Gray a week early but do not like Gray's JS but you being from SA may know better.

Do not think you have enough cash reserves to go Daisy to Macrae.

If you think that Gray has sound JS then I would do these trades.

Thomas to Gray this week. Gray has Round 9 bye so will get 3 price rises if he plays all 3.

Next Week Langdon to Cutler
Dunstan/Ellis to prem of your choice without Round 8 bye.

Oh yeah, sorry didn't see that you already had him. I would hold fire then until next week and maybe downgrade as per Ringo's comments. Daisy shouldn't lose too much cash this week.

Maybe Impey?

I would hold Jay and see if Taylor is sub for Brisbane and if he is I would go Taylor to Lloyd as he will only just achieve B/e and not rise much in value possibly compared to Dunstan who may have a field day against the Lions today. You can replace the DPP with Honeychurch when he is on the bubble.

26 trades. 54k
(http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w591/Jayman_FF/SCTeam_zps51de19f3.jpg)

So, as I was thinking, it seems best to take advantage of the two very good bubble boys in Robertson and Lloyd. Of course will wait until subs are announced, but the plan is to go:
Dunstan --> Robertson
Ellis --> Lloyd (via Taylor)

However, as Ringo points out, If Taylor is named as the sub:
Ellis --> Robertson
Taylor --> Lloyd

I thought for a little while about trading up to get Ryan Griffen and also thought about a Higgins --> Fasolo trade, but I think its best to stock up some cash.

yes. build up money now to start upgrading next week.

Personally i'd go Daisy, looks to only make $10 in the next few weeks as i think Dunstan can make his BE.
Ellis can wait on the bench till next week if not named coz he wont lose money. if he plays then trade him out.

I'd go this trade as Taylor still has money to make and Dunstan can reach his BE.

Daisy --> Robertson
Ellis --> Lloyd (via Taylor)

Am still leaning towards trading Dunstan instead of Daisy (presuming Taylor isn't named as sub)

With 86 last week, maybe Daisy is starting to get back into it. Just feel he has a higher ceiling than Dunstan and its unlikely he'll drop much cash.
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014

I'd trade Dunstan and keep Daisy mate. Dunstan is first year player, Daisy as you said 86 last week. Week before was on track for 95 and did his shoulder. I am keeping Daisy until his bye then in Round 9.

Polec, Daisy, Higgins out for whoever.

I think I'm just going to roll with Mummy. Just focusing on a league finish so overally does not really manner, can afford to hold Mummy I think.

Looks like Daisy may be starting to hit some form, not sold on that though...

Daisy and McDonald have roughly the same B/E, I think it is between them. McDonald has a bye next week so he would be the ideal option to upgrade if you want to upgrade someone next week.

Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014
Post by: Mat0369 on May 16, 2014, 06:42:14 PM
I would start getting prepared for next week and cutting the dead weight. You only have 12 guys playing next week. I would look at getting Robertson out for a round 8 or 9 rookie (Hartung is probably the guy) and either downgrade Georgiou>Tippett or upgrade Cunningham to a premo mid you can afford. Cunningham isn't the sub but a B/E of 70 odd will likely see him drop in price.

Yeah Robertson --> Hartung seems like a solid move. Also doing Cunningham --> Selwood is tempting, but Selwood does have a BE of 160 so could wait a week. No other prem mids that I like that dont have the bye next week.
Are we convinced that Tippett even has decent job security? I guess its better than Georgiou's haha.

Both Mumford and Sandi are out next week so maybe one to Goldstein would have suggested Jacobs but locked last night.
Georgiou to Bews or Tippet both should play next week as well so starting to prepare for next week.
If not looking at rucks then Cunningham or Robertson to a premo mid you can afford from Round 8

And they play Freo so he could drop even further in price. With Tippett you only need him to play a week but if Grima is back next week I expect him to get dropped unless he plays really well. You might be better off getting in Selwood, eating the 90 odd he puts up at best and then seeing if Bews/Tippett get a game next week.

I'm gonna grab Selwood this week for Cunningham. This just leaves me with the dilemma of doing either:

b) Robertson --> Hartung

I'll do one of the two but not sure which...

yeh Swallow is def a better pick and a bit of risk with Hurn but he has just bottomed out after 99, 7 (subbed), 97, 101
so price for what he can produce is the major reason

As there are no defender rookies playing atm I would be looking at these 2 trades to complete defence Langdon  to Jaensch and then Langford to a 200/300k defender who is assured of games as bench cover,

Don't laugh but Dawson, Delaney who are priced at just over #200k will play games and will be good for points.

Maybe Langdon to Jaensch and then Langford to Litherland for some cash mate?
Yeah I like that. Would have 600k to spend on a defender, what's the reasoning to pick Jaensch? :)
Oh he's just some spud from some spud team ;) haha. Nah I think his numbers this year speak for themselves.
From a Crows fan perspective, I've just never rated him. Which is why I'm hesitant to bring him in!

But a 94 average at 417k with a breakeven of 47... He does look a good buy.

And he's been consistent too. With a 38 bringing down his average when he broke his ribs.

From an outsider it looks like he's taken over Henderson's role from last year?

Yeah seems he has taken over that role. But I don't see Hendo's return affecting him.

The question is, does he represent more value than a Pearce Hanley?

I would say so. Hanley would most likely cop more tags/attention than Jaensch would. Although he might get attention now after the start he has had this year. And he plays Freo this week. Tough one

This is why I don't complete my trades until the final teams are in :P SJ out!!!

Think I'll just hold Jobe for another week, bringing in Liberatore doesn't really appeal to me at that price.

Higgins is the guy I would look at moving on. Two poor scores in the rotation now so he is going to plummet in price. I would only make the one move, hold tight with the second as Shenton still has cash to make and I am assuming you will use Taylor as a swing man for coverage.
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014
Post by: Ricochet on June 20, 2014, 12:20:51 AM
how about swapping Shenton with Taylor and then Shenton to Stefan Martin, giving you coverage in the rucks and fwds

Who would you guys look at for Higgins?
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014
Post by: Ringo on June 20, 2014, 09:39:08 AM
I would look at Higgins to Martin seeing you also have Thurlow so you have Martin covering both forward and ruck.
IMO Martin will remain in Brisbane's Team even when Berger returns due mainly to no forwards standing up so we will go with 2 rucks with Berger more than likely playing forward until he regains full fitness,
Martin has a negative B/e and will rise further in cash as well.

To give mid coverage I would go Hartung to Buddy via Taylor,  Will leave Both Shenton and Taylor in mids but both making cash and allowing upgrades later, Not necessary though if you want to save trades.

Other alternative would be to trade Hartung to a mid who will play games for rest of year,  For example Clay Beams has a low B/e and is only $252k and will play out the season for Brisbane unless he loses form.

Shenton has a BE of 50 man so only proj to make another 10k with a score of 76.

On Higgins it comes down to whether you want to use him as cover at F7 or not. If so then hang onto him for another round or two and then upgrade Charlie.

My suggestion would be Shenton to SMartin and either Hartung/Acres to Miles. Means you have a decent scorer in Miles at M8 and can play SMartin at F6 for a while

Cheers lads, plenty of good options. Stefan Martin looks the goods to add some flexibility between my rucks and forwards.

I'm tempted to go Higgins --> Martin, and then finish off my mids by going Shenton --> Ward/SJ.

Is this a good idea or am I just rushing to 'complete' my team?

Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014

I would hold the second trade Jay - Shenton has an achievable B/e and SJ has a high B/e and Ward may not reach his either hence you can afford to wait a week to finish

You likely miss out on 50+ points though in order to save what, 10k? I think there's a good chance of SJ going big this week after a disappointing last few weeks (prior to being rested)

I guess it depends on your main league match this week

Honeychurch maybe?
Title: Re: Jayman's Team Thread 2014

Taylor-->Honeychurch
Hartung-->Rocky

Can switch Shenton as fwd cover if you want instead of HC, and Acres should be back soon as well. Rocky is the 3rd highest averaging player (or mid, think Mummy has higher avg...) IIRC, and think he'll do well against North this week so is another captain option too. Should still leave you with a bit of cash left, so upgrading Suckers and Martin in the future may only require 2-3 trades

Moves Suckling/Jaensch to the bench who you can loophole when possible. Will just have to cop whatever Honeychurch gets by moving SMartin to R2 for Sandi.

Acres to Morabito.

Shenton to fwd. line and get ? R Gray.

How about Litherland to Mitchell and Shenton to Goodes, Winderlich or Sam Reid. martin can revert to F6 and you will have a sound F7 and Cameron is near a return as well.
With Honeychurch in mids you have a number of F/m you can swing as well.
3 trades left as well.

He has 4 left, 2 for each week. May as well use them both

Yep good call lol. Was only looking at Jay's team to see the carnage

Beams and Fyfe have to go mate. Agree with Vin that Sloane and Priddis are probably your best picks.  I'd also strongly consider Cotchin

Thanks lads.

I've gone Fyfe and Beams --> Sloane and Priddis

With Priddis getting the VC into Rockliff C. :)

Yep, can do that.
Also considering Jobe + Hibberd...
