Title: WXV International Draft 2013
Post by: ossie85 on November 25, 2013, 01:29:04 PM
Right! These are the players available (yell out if I've missed someone)

Includes players not selected last year, pre-signed rookies, delisted WXV players and the AFL national draft.

You still can't go over 31,500 points. Be wary of that when selecting! Players with a cap value have the value next to there name.

You do not get a pick in the preseason draft unless you pass on a pick in this draft. Doesn't matter if you've nominated one in your list lodgements or not.

We will be patient, but if after 24 hours you have not picked, you will be skipped (and a player selected for you in order of the draft). If you have been online in that time, and haven't picked 2 hours after that, you may also be skipped (and a player selected for you in order of the draft).

Hey ossie, considering Bennell, McGovern and Clarke all aren't on a team list, shouldn't their names be in black rather than red?

I would have thought they would be available in our rookie draft given they are already on AFL lists?

The way it works in WXV is you can select anyone in the international draft as long as they weren't selected during the PSD or rookie draft this year. So all the players that people delist are available for selection in this draft as long as they are still on a list...

Updated players available...

If anybody is aware of an 'pre-signed rookies' that are available (players that a club selected before the rookie draft), let me know as they are available in this draft first.

Or if I've missed anything else...

Sam J Reid, Steinberg and Yagmoor are no longer on AFL lists I'm pretty sure.

Think you are correct for Sam Reid... but Steinberg is signed on:

Does Perris qualify for this draft or does he go to Rookie Draft.  Think should be rookie but will be guided by you.

These guys were taken in Rookie Draft. I had them listed initially in British as International Rookies but they were all taken up with Rookie Draft picks as was Perris i noticed so ignore the previous post.

The only one that was not picked up in the Rookie Draft is Maia Westrupp a dees scholarship holder so should he be added.

ok there are then quite a few that meet that will qualify under that criteria if it is to continue

Jason Holmes
Patrick Mitchell
Daniel Flynn
Ciaran Sheehan
Kurt Heatherley
Ciaran Byrne
Shem Tatupu

Then do Michael Luxford and Lloyd Perris also qualify under this criteria being pre listed players.

Yes, thanks for that Ringo!

Yeah, these players I think should have the choice at being selected on a senior list, because for whatever reason clubs had alternate access to them.

Draft Bidding

Sometimes we are forced to make decisions we don't want! Cameron Wood was delisted by Collingwood at the end of 2012, therefore forcing Pacific to delist him. This is the only case I can find (let me know if I've missed someone). Wood has now been drafted again.

So, in fairness to Pacific, they should get the oppurtunity to draft him back.

We will do a father-son like bidding system.

The 17 other teams (not Pacific) have the oppurtunity to bid which round they would pick Cameron Wood in. Pacific then get the oppurtunity to match it. I.e:

Beijing bid there 3rd round pick on Cameron Wood. If Pacific don't want to pay a 3rd round pick, Beijing have to use a 3rd round pick to select him (Pick 41). If Pacific want him, they'll have to use a 3rd round pick on him (Pick 53). So Pacific would win that battle, even though Beijing's pick is higher.

Alternatively, Mexico City might bid there 3rd round pick (pick 56), but since Pacific's 3rd round pick is earlier (pick 53) they would only need to match it with there next pick (which would be a 6th round pick as it currently stands).

So Pacifc clearly have the advantage, but if other teams want him, they get the oppurtunity.

..... So, happy for people to raise thoughts, etc... But let the bidding start NOW!

Bidding will end once drafting starts, at which point Pacific will need to decide whether to match the offer or not.

You can also bid with rookie draft rounds (not preseason though)

Just a question regarding the draft bidding ossie... for how many years after is it in place? i.e is it only if they get drafted back the next year, or can it be a couple years later? Mark Hutchings strikes me as the most obvious example here, was on the Saints list for one year and got delisted at the end of 2010, and then got picked up end of 2012, so 2 years later. If we had been playing this game back then I'm sure whoever had Hutchings that first year would have loved him back.

CF has a fair point here - For example when Ahmed Saad competes his suspension he will more than likely be picked up but that will also be 2 years.

Tippett wasn't on a list in 2012 or 2013 :/

And I don't think we'd have a time limit. Takes Podsiadly, he was on a rookie list for Collingwood and took 10 years or so to get picked up again! because it is a bidding system, I think it is still fair no matter what the process....

Oh, and you can also bid in the rookie draft, will edit original post

Ah good I like the addition of the bidding in the rookie. Just one more question... If someone bids on a player, say a 3rd round pick, and the team who has the rights matches it, can the other team then change their mind and bid their second round pick? Or is it a one bid system?

That's another good question...

... yes and no.

If one of the other 17 teams outbids you, you can then outbid them... but once the person who matches it (and they can choose to match or not only after bidding finishes), it's over.

Sounds good :)

Much better than actually implementing a father-son rule, since we would have to wait about 18 years to get one!

If bidding is in fact now open, I reckon I might bid Cairo's second round (and last) rookie pick for Cameron Wood.

That's how it works right? Now I just sit tight and wait to be outbid?  :P

My long-term plans for sure! May not be 18 years.... A player like Boomer Harvey could have a 14 year old son.... (no idea if he does or not..)

Yep, and if Pacific don't match it, you have to select him.

So how would we value this bidding process Oss? Eg which is worth more, pick 50 (3rd round) in the International Draft or Pick 29 (second round)  in the Rookie Draft?

I'll bid whichever one has more value thanks.

So how would we value this bidding process Oss? Eg which is worth more, pick 50 (3rd round) in the International Draft or Pick 29 (second round)  in the Rookie Draft?

I'll bid whichever one has more value thanks.

International draft (any round) trumps the rookie draft.
Thanks Oz, assumed as much. 3rd round international draft it is.

I didn't think too many people would be interested and I really only wanted him for depth and to become a younger version of Orren Stephenson for Cairo.  :P

We've got Giles as back up to Mummy now though.  8)

So Toronto are using 3rd round pick (which they have 2)...Wellington, Beijing, Tokyo, London, PNL and New York can outbid him with a '3rd round pick' also, but everybody else will need to use a 2nd round pick. Pacific can match with a 3rd round pick.

Round 3
40. Wellington
41. Beijing
42. Tokyo
43. London
44. Tokyo
45. PNL
46. Tokyo
47. New York
48. London
49. New York
50. Toronto
51. Pacific
52. Cairo
53. Pacific
54. Seoul
55. New York
56. Mexico City
57. Toronto

Yep, another exception to the rookie draft CF :)

So Tokyo bidding a 'round 3' pick also?

If so, Wellington and Beijing can outbid with a Round 3 pick, everybody else Round 2 or higher. Pacific can still match with a 3rd round pick (pick 53)

49. New York
50. Toronto
51. Pacific
52. Cairo

Right!

So, guys, feel free to go. Have been through all the list lodgements. There maybe mistakes, so be patient and understanding if we have to stop anything.

SEOUL have the coveted pick #1, so... go.

You do not get a pick in the preseason draft unless you pass on a pick in this draft. Doesn't matter if you've nominated one in your list lodgements or not.

All rookie upgrades have been put at the end of your picks (which is the best option for you).

A quick draft is a good draft.

When you've actually be experienced both a quick draft and a slow draft then you can come back and try to be a smart ass hey.

Title: Re: WXV International Draft 2013
Post by: elephants on December 02, 2013, 10:34:34 PM
Haha ok well here I go then.

Massive risk here. This bloke has gone much later than this in all the other National Drafts and much much later in the AFL National Draft.

We see him as a gun though and the lack of quality players in this position for us meant we needed to focus on this area of our lineup.

New Delhi select: Toby Nankervis

With an enormous 150+ point SC game in a TAC Cup and a number of promising reports coming out of the Swans camp, we feel this massive Tasmanian will become a premium ruckman one day.

This is also promosing:

@FantasyFreako: Swans draftee @Tnank_20 is already the size of Todd Goldstein. This kid is ready to play. @sydneyswans #2014aflprospectus

Cue the abuse/banter and highly antagonistic judgements on this pick......... now :P

I, Nigel, would like to formally apologise to anyone I harassed in the lead up to this pick. Was probably a bit too keen to get this first one out of the way. All good now though, I'm as cool as a cucumber.  8)

Definitely left field Ele! :P

Memph isn't online so just going to slap this up.

There are a few players here I would really like to take, but I'm going to have to select Matt Crouch. I know he butchers the ball a fair bit which is baaaaad for SC, but if he's accumulating anywhere near the 37 disposals he averaged in the TAC Cup then he should be more than a solid scorer.

There were several lads to pick from here, but obviously I can't mention names.

There's one bloke in particular I'm a massive fan of, and I reckon he could become one of the best players from this year's draft crops, both AFL and fantasy wise.

Cairo will select Luke Dunstan.

This boy tore up the WAFL. When he sorts out his off-field life, he will be a gem.

Dayle 'Better-Than-Cyril' Garlett

His game is so suited to SC so we could be looking at a premo fwd here too one day!

Ok decided on my pick. Will take the guy who has been compared to Dangerfield due to his breakaway pace out of packs to get the clearances, which is SC gold. Taken at the same number as Danger so if he turns out like him I will love it. Averaged 111 SC in the TAC this year. I will take...

Nathan Freeman

With Freeman, Adams and Martin on my list surely at least one of them will become a premo mid at the Pies :)

Maca's last post was him saying he was back (from memory), but he hasn't been seen in 10 days.

Is something going to be done? Had to remove him from his TX position because of like nearly 3 months of no contact or replies to the PMs sent to him...  :-X

Sorry guys, last time we talked Nankervis, Acres & Cripps were the three we were watching for this pick. Wasn't expecting the draft to play out so fast last night, so Q hasn't had time to get back to me... Hopefully he'll be able to in the next two hours otherwise I might just have to make an executive decision.

Hope this is ok :)

Alright sorry for the hold up fellas. Haven't been able to get on to Q but I think he was happy with us taking a fella of this position from what we last spoke about.

We'll have Rory Lobb - might take a while to develop but having Kreuzer, Grundy and now Lobb has our rucks set for the future. Basketball background, this guy should develop into a gun player with his sheer athleticism, something along the lines of a Nic Nat!

Sorry for the hold up, will PM Chumps.

Our next pick is currently in Dubai, just getting used to the heat.

Welcome to Cairo - Jarman Impey.

He's gonna be developed as a small, versatile defender.

Here's to hoping he can become like Harry O'Brien.

So there are plenty of good midfielders left, but I feel I have got enough quality there already. My mids who are 24 or younger consist of...

Sloane, Masten, Hartlett, Zaha, Hill, Adams, Wallis, Kyle Martin, Sumner, O'Rourke, Polec and now Nathan Freeman

So will look elsewhere. Sadly the position I need to fill most is forwards, but there aren't any that are jumping out at me, so instead will take a defender. So I'll take a guy who averaged 102 SC in the TAC and has ferocious attack on the ball, loves taking an intercepting mark and averaged 6 tackles a game. Apparently likes a good sledge too. The winner of Vic Country's MVP award...

Now you're just showing off :P

Question Ossie - If we select a delisted or unallocated player that played last year do we have their points allocated to our cap really interested in unallocated players points rule. There are at least 3 players in unallocated who amassed over 500 SC Points this year so you can see the reason for query.

Yeah it does count ringo. So you can't select them if it pushes you over the cap.

Dang, I wanted Zak, but thought it was naive of me to think I could get him. I like to think brothers share similar attitudes and work ethics, so based on that alone, Zak will be a star  8)

Yeah from what I was reading about him he is really determined and a hard worker. Many people had said he would struggle to make the Dandenong side this year, so he put his head down and worked harder than anyone. An on field leader too, so has all the mental attributes, just needs to score well :)

Think he got confused since you have your online status set to hidden so it always looks you are offline. So when he looked it said you were last online at 4.58, but you were actually still online.

I took Jones with the pick immediately before this...

Well, I prefer not to do this, but rules are rules I guess and we all want to keep moving the draft along.

Pyro gets auto-picked the guy I wanted  ::) Darcy Lang.

But, I will gladly settle for this guy. I was tossing up between two, and no matter who I chose, I will be keeping an eye out for the other to bit me on the ar$e

The Brewers will add a natural sweetener to our Brew, and select:

Mitch Honeychurch!

I AM NOT HAPPY OSS :'( :'( :'(.

However, enough complaining :P. PNL uses their 2nd round pick to select........... Zach Merrett. Has an X Factor with his pace and can play small forward and push up the field if needed. Solid ball user as well so we can hope he can turn into something good at Bombers who are in need of quality small forwards!

Was looking at him but with hos 1000plus SAC Points my cap was exceeded so the player the Royals will take is Will Hartung.  Was a choice of two so hope the other does not come back to bite me and a bit much to expect him to last till pick 43.

May surprise a few here since I am going to pick up someone who was delisted by another club, but not really sure why they delisted him... Everyone knows my weakness is forwards as I complain about it all the time, so I will take the 23rd selection in LAST years draft, delisted by New York...

Marco Paparone

Averaged 95DT in the NEAFL in his first year playing on a half-forward flank. Will surely get more opportunities this year in the AFL :)

And with that my drafting is complete. Very happy picking up Freeman, Jones and Paparone ;D

Ugh, and another one! I couldn't understand why Paparone was delisted either, I did plan to draft him as well lol.

I think I am headed for less quality than I thought at Pick 108  :P

Well, compared to last year anyway. I used the recycled player strategy, didn't go too bad, Rhineland certainly benefited

And here's me thinking he would last to my next pick in Pick 66  :-[

Damn, handy depth player he would be

Couldn't you send him a list of your top 6 preferences in order now? That way you are guaranteed to get one of them, and will have hopefully heard from boomz too.

Just a quick question. In the trade thread it says we have Pick 87 but that's not listed here in this order. I can't see that we traded it at any point.

I don't think we can pick any more players anyway though but I am curious. Unless we can choose someone and put them straight on the rookie list?

you will notice the later the draft goes the shorter the rounds get as more teams are finished drafting once they are finished they seem to have been taken out of the order which is your case

Beijing will have Mitchell Harvey (PA).

Really wanted a forward with one of our first two picks but couldn't go past Aish & Lobb, so we're stoked to get Harvs here. Ready made for the AFL, will look good alongside Schulzy in the next couple of years at Alberton and now Beijing! Should be R/F which is a bonus.

Got a Doctor's app at 3pm and halfway through lunch so making this quick.

PNL could use some back potential so going to take a little risk here in Matthew Jaensch. If he can solidify a spot in the Crows lineup, he can be a solid back depth player, which isn't asking much midway through this draft.

Was a real toss up between 2 players some of you know which 2 but the Royals will take Daniel McStay who can play both end of the ground. With the likes of Merrett, Patful, Brown and Maguire retiring in the next year will get opportunities.

London will pass with pick 66

So pacific passed their last pick so they pass this one too. Up to Cairo :)
If it's our next pick #51 then we get Mr Wood

Pick 53 was allocated for Wood... I fear you have unintentionally passed a pick too early  :-\

Fair call that haha.

Happy with two Pre-season picks, a strange strategy? Perhaps, but we have ideas ;)  risky? Perhaps, but the #39 was always only hoping to land a good fantasy player, different from a second Pre-season pick? Hardly :P

This isn't an easy decision.
There's a few guys I wouldn't mind, but I'll go with Jake Barrett
I'd be disappointed if I tried to get him with our next pick and I missed out. The guys I want should still be available at our next pick anyway. I'll PM the next person.

Bugger, was hoping for Jake or another lad for our next pick.

Well, the draft died a bit last night as we wait for roo boys :)

Still going pretty solidly though....

Though nothing really official yet, have removed Nick Duigan from Cairo's list, and given them an extra pick.

Well then, we're keen to boost our defensive stocks, and while there are a few Nat draftees we're after, and we already lost our No.1 target in Duryea... we'll grab Justin Clarke, the boy from Boolaroo!
Nice pick up there Nigey was going to be mine but just took me over the Salasry Cap.  Will not be a high SC scorer as a key defender but will more than likely play every game.

Seoul are wondering whether they cancel rookie upgrades (and put them back on the rookie list) in order to have another pick...

Given we are very much into the draft, I think I'd like to say no (not fair on New York for example, as the draft has already passed there promoted rookies)... but happy to here other thoughts?

its harsh but i think once you make the choice and the draft has started it should be locked.

Yep, have to agree. It's not fair on teams like New York who have already had picks past used to elevate players.

I'm in agreement with this too. I kinda want to change my rookie upgrade and leave Riley on the rookie list then pass my final pick to get a pick in the PSD, but it's too late now.

Beijing have some very good picks in last year's draft:

Wines   Oliver   Beijing Thunder   3   24   74.13
Grundy   Brodie   Beijing Thunder   11   7   74.00
Kennedy   Ben   Beijing Thunder   13   12   40.92
Mayes   Sam   Beijing Thunder   14   18   70.28
Thurlow   Jackson   Beijing Thunder   19   4   66.25
Broomhead   Timothy   Beijing Thunder   22   0   NA

Wines is a star, Grundy a 10 year ruck, Kennedy promising, Mayes looks a star, Thurlow potential and Broomhead didn't play last year (interrupted due to illness) but the Pies are expecting a lot from him.

At nearly 200cm hopefully he can get ruck status as I need some rucks following Jollys departure!
Did you forget to add in a name?  ???

im about 99% postivie who it is and im not happy. I wanted him on my bench. He is a waste ot basically anyone but me.

You got Lockyer out of it :P. We had to pass one pick to use our PSD one, so was either find Lockyer a home or delist him :-X.

Beijing have some very good picks in last year's draft:

Wines   Oliver   Beijing Thunder   3   24   74.13
Grundy   Brodie   Beijing Thunder   11   7   74.00
Kennedy   Ben   Beijing Thunder   13   12   40.92
Mayes   Sam   Beijing Thunder   14   18   70.28
Thurlow   Jackson   Beijing Thunder   19   4   66.25
Broomhead   Timothy   Beijing Thunder   22   0   NA

Wines is a star, Grundy a 10 year ruck, Kennedy promising, Mayes looks a star, Thurlow potential and Broomhead didn't play last year (interrupted due to illness) but the Pies are expecting a lot from him.

waited a long time for this pick. I had 2 guys i hoped would slip to this pick but realistically i coulsnt imagine either slipping.

Cam Giles is gone so im taking this guy.

Kurt Heatherley (Hawthorn)

stoked with him, attacking rebounding defender, in an aging hawks team i think he will play in a few years. Being mentored by brian lake so hopefuly he replaces him.

Ele knows how happy I am to get this guy.

George Hewett

ffs Holz, I wanted him I should have just taken him but figured he'd last. Hewett is meant to be mine Holz, you're not allowed to have him.

WTF as if take him

change your pick.

That means we're up.

Need some forwards, reckon this guy could become a regular for the Weagles in the near future. Stoked to get him all the way at 90, might even be another Mark Hutchings like pick-up (;) ;D).

Welcome to Cairo, Malcolm Karpany

Considering Josh Hill was almost dropped roughly 16 times last season, I think Karps would be in contention early ;)

In saying that, Hill came 10th in our b&f so someone must rate him :o

You should just get them to send you a list of their preferences so you can just pump it out.

So Dillos send you a list of 14, Dublin 13, Berlin 11 and Cairo 7 :)

Anyway, thank God for all the forwards still around.

I'm hoping this lad can get games at some point, the Eagles must have elevated him for a reason.

Jeremy McGovern.

pick away nrich/vin

Getting ready for step mum's 50th, first i been at my computer for couple hours and idc who you take. You two discuss between you

I'm just pissed I took Banfield instead of Hewett atm. Wanted to discuss with you two last night but you weren't on :'(

You two can pick from here on out as long as we pass our last 2 picks so we get pre season picks.
