there are 2 guys clear on top need to chase them down,

the teams sheets were kind to me this week with.

#1 no mid cover, has lids who crowley should kill and SJ with staker for cover and nothing else.

#2 has BUDDY + SJ out with and only rocky as cover. donut unless trades

got a few decisions this week, Webster coming back in has ruined my emg loophole so I need to pick which of the 7 backman not to play.

SJ out is easy solved as JJK comes onto the field.

VC and C is tough as nomrally i put it on Pendles and Ablett.

Pendles im leaning towards taking the VC or C. Who else to stick the VC/C on is troubling me though

To be honest mate - Ive been really interested to see how your team has been travelling for a while. :P

Realized you never put it up in a thread tho.

Awesome stuff on your ranking and hope you can take out the top prize :)

Have you considered Selwood for C ? His in ripping form.

Well done Holz -

may be worth considering Selwood for C loophole if you can work it - Selwoods last scores against crows 126, 109, 87, 144  so could be worth the punt to rise up especially if using Pendles as VC.
Title: Re: Holz SC journey
Post by: Holz on July 19, 2013, 10:17:52 AM
had not considered selwood but might be worth a move.

Neade, Rowe and Webster playing is actually a massive headache as I was planning on using emg loophole in the rucks, forwardline and backs so cant do that.

I can use the VC loophole basically it just means if i do it I have zero forward cover, as opposed to nick haynes.

so really its Vc pendles? in C Selwood and no haynes cover (if pendles kills it)  or C pendles and haynes cover regardless.

would have loved webster to be out, no clue which back not to play this week. On from Gibbs but not sure if i can stomach doing that. Staker at this stage (but he is in killer form)

Yeah one trade left.

Almost stuck the c on rocky last night but it was too risky.

Going with selwood.

Good record against the crows, crows have been letting up big scores lately, he is better without SJ and is in super form.

Goodes going down means I'm using my last trade.

Only 430k to spend though.

Duffy grimes and hartlett left.

Probably will be but selwood is capable of going big.

The real blow is stupid Webster coming back in. I would have emg loopholed Gibbs and taken stakers 110+ instead of Gibbs 60. 50 points loaded there. I also really need neade to be dropped too

Wonder if the other coaches had Gaz captain or not :o

taking haynes 88 instead of JJK and his 128 was painful but thanks everyone on the selwood pick.

Made up almost 100 points on the leaders, only 180 behind and sitting in 6th.

goodes going down was very bad, means i have to use my last trade. Only have 450k to spend guys in my price range (if i trade this week)

Hibberd- hasnt gone over 93 since round 10 but seems to always go 75+
Hartlett- very up and down, top guy has him though
Adcock - decent last month and a good draw
mackie

would make my backline

Goddard Gibbs Hanley Heppell Cannon Staker (who i pick up , Webster)
Title: Re: Holz SC journey
Post by: Vinny on July 21, 2013, 09:52:39 PM
Well done mate !

Out of that bunch - I'd probably go Adcock.

His very consistent in getting in the 80s and occasionaly goes 95+

Plus the soft draw as you said helps too.
Title: Re: Holz SC journey
Post by: Ringo on July 21, 2013, 10:14:03 PM
Well done Holz now within 200 points.
Have you considered Jack Grimes or Brandon Ellis as a cheaper option.  They will be playing every game as well and you only want them for D7.

Of your list I favour Adcock as well.

Holz Have a look at Ricky Henderson Adelaide as an option as well,  Has a last three game average 117 and 5 game average 94.  has def/Fwd DPP as well if you have Staker forward.

gutsy pick. I have staker down back so doesnt help much if he was up front would be a gun trade.

might just wait till the teams are out.

Hibberd and Grimes look the best of the bunch to me. personally I'd go with the riskier option in Grimes, but Hibberd has been consistent an offers 80 minimum. It's a shame he has tonned up for a while as otherwise it'd be a lot easier pick.
The other I'd consider funnily enough is Terlich. Has scored 100+ 4 times this year. Since R11 - 88, 88, 107, 119, 27, 98....take the 27 out and nice reading. good enough for D7...will get a look at 2-3 of his scores before St.K play should Webster get dropped and want to use loophole as well.

henderson looking good. I have it down to Henderson Hibbert or Grimes.

Henderson has taken Reilly's old role. Reilly out for the season, no past history of sucess.

Grimes: Captain of the club, easy best 22. started the year on fire 122 80 83 120 93 for a 100 average.Has a good draw.  Downside injury risk and he is my only cover on the bench, pretty terrible form last 3 weeks.

Hibberd: Nice and safe should play every game and wont score bad, hasnt gone big for a long time.

The other Henderson (Lachie) is in some good form also
Title: Re: Holz SC journey
Post by: Ringo on July 23, 2013, 01:07:24 PM
Looked at both Holz and still favour Ricky mainly due to the Crows reasonable draw and playing the Reilly role.

Ricky averaging 117 over last 3 98 over last 5
Lachie averaging 102 over last 3 91 over last 5
Ricky has it on those figures.

yeah defaintely ricky over lachie.

Hibberd for safety
Grimes for injury risk
Lachie risk of the unknown.

my go to rule is always pick the guy with the risk of injuy and not the scoring risk. With that Grimes is the man.

very very though though. Could be the move to make me 50k or take it away

Just see if Melbourne select Nicholson though - If not it may mean Grimes will get another tagging role.

Hanley and Goodes gone now.

I think I need to play it safe and pick up hibberd now, any injury (grimes) and im gone.

Heppell Goddard Hibberd Gibbs Mckenzie Staker isnt too bad. Webster and Hanley on the bench hurts.

last week I needed webster not to play and him playing cost me 50 points. I need him to play now till hanley is back. Whats the odds he gets dropped the week I need him.

Unlucky Holz.

Staker is in good form right now and hopefully he can keep it up with his soft draw !

I don't think Hanley will be out for more than 2 based on what I've heard.

im fine but have no cover. Webster sticking around for abit would be nice. Bad things seem to pile up all at once, a donut will really really hurt and end my title run.

do people think hibberd is the smart move now? considering they have to be on field for the next month at least.
Title: Re: Holz SC journey
Post by: roo boys! on July 23, 2013, 09:22:14 PM
Yeah Hibberd probably still the way to go, although I still stand by my suggestion of Adcock in your situation.

I mean, playing it safe is all good and well but to make up those 180 points you may need something a little different. No point going safe and finishing 2nd, give it an all out crack I reckon and don't die wondering.

Your team is still certainly good enough to take home all your leagues if you suffer a few injuries/Adcock drops off/you fall out of the running for overall, so for now I think you need to try something a little different to try and bring home that 50k!

its tempting RB espeically with hanley going down, not sure how it will effect him.

Hibberd has played 4 of his 6 upcoming opponents this year. maybee not the best indicator but its a good sign

Hawks
Pies 115
Eagles 93
Roos (back typcially score decent on them)
Carlton 74
Richmond 114

however adcock having a good draw might be bad news for him

power
stkilda
richmond
gws
dogs 60
cats 71
Title: Re: Holz SC journey

this is my team this week

Goddard Staker Heppell Gibbs Hibberd Mckeznie  (Hanley, Webster)
Pendles Ablett Swan Selwood JPK Griffen Cotchin MItchell (Haynes, Hroovaat)
Minson Goldy (Nicholls Rowe)
JJK SJ Walker Cox Martin Rocky (Bartel, Neade)

emg
VC
C

webster down back is grat means I have some cover.

the huge dilema is do I play hanyes in the middle or forward line. With Neade Bartel and Hrovaat out I can use the emg loophole but it means I have no cover on one line.

Title: Re: Holz SC journey

Is it worth risking moving SJ to mids putting Haynes as emergency for bartel Captains loophole and playing Mitchell as emergency,Haynes has been scoring as well as Mitchell over the last couple of weeks so do not think you lose anything.

moving SJ into the mid means that haynes needs to play up front as bartel and neade are both out.

as it stands because hroovaat is playing second last and sydney last, if haynes goes well than I can switch hroovaat on the field and take haynes score. If he doesnt score well i just keep mitchel on field.

means I have no cover up front though.

up front only walker plays before haynes does so a late out from JJK Cox SJ Rocky Martin and im eating donuts.

in the mids

Ablett Swan Pendleswould have played so a late out from Selwood JPK Griffen Cotchin or Mitchell if i play haynes up front means donuts.

Team is going well 985 from 8 + captain.

Goldy my only standout but so far everyone has gone 90+

1507 from 12 + captain. 10 still to play you would think 2500 is a possibility.

Still alot of games left but I'm probably the inform one in the comp pulled back a 300 point defecit, need another big one next week.

Carn Jelwood bring home the goodies both for Holz and me, although a 95-105 wouldn't go astray this week as captain (I assume Goldy won't get the call up) of Dublin.

130+ selly is what I need. Walker and cannon 200 or better combined those 3 made me lots of ground this week.

Nope, barrel back so that really helps my cover. The only issue is Webster my only back cover. Need Hanley to recover fast or I could be in trouble .

Damn, that is unlucky. I had a look at your team and Staker should be good cover for Hanley while he is out. I wouldn't expect any of your other defenders to miss this week so you should be looking alright until Hanley's return.

couldnt get much better than the team sheets out today.

Hanley in and webster keeps his spot to no emg loophole but 8 playing backs. Now to play staker or hanley.

neade and hroovaat stay out so hello emg loophole.

and the biggest news of the week which i doubt any of the top guys will pick up. Ben jacobs replaces Swallow not Greenwood, that means no tag for Jelly this week, watch him explode.

Hine perhaps?

But yeah good news, bit of a confusing decision though on North's behalf I would have slotted Greenwood straight back in at the first excuse I got, he did nothing wrong!

Title: Re: Holz SC journey

Bit of a hard one there Holz

JJK playing Suns so could go big.
Bartel playing Norths
Swans playing Dogs so Mitchell could run wild as he will not

So it may seem strange but Bartel may be the one I would bench based on opponents.

lock and load, he is a unique so thats a way to get a jump on the competition, if not ablett is safe.

depedns if you think north will win or lose. here are the scores when they lose:

Rocky 147 Mayes 130 Staker 111 Hanley 105
Kreuzer 139 Simpson 120 Curnow 110 Henderson 110 Walker 109
Barlow 151 Fyfe 131 Deboer 122 Clarke 113
Ablett 155 Nicholls 139 Harbrow 114 Mckeznie 114 Prestia 113
Kerridge 143 Douglas 141 Vince 122 Danger 121

look at those freo and adeliade games they can let mids run riot, when they win they are very restrcitive though.

last time they played

Selwood 140 Bartel 157 Chapman 114 the rest sub 100. Selwood came off sick in this game so could have gone even bigger. Greenwood didnt play in this game either.

the year before selwood 140 no greenwood

year before selly 126.

so 140 140 126 in his last 3. No gun tagger. Super form. North allowing big scores when they lose.

last time things like this aligned I had him captain for a 130+ I think it will happen again. If not Ablett

Hmm ablett pendles or swan. Ablett a low of 115 in 2 months and 4 145+ scores in that time think it has to be him.

I expected more out of the north game looks like they spread the scores around too much, stupid 3300 rule.

Unlucky holz, but that's not how the 3300 rule works. If only 3000 points were scored, they increase everybody's score by 10% (a bit more complicated as they scale times of match by importance also)

ok so i caught up on second and third so im basically tied for 2nd.

1st has pulled away to a 70 point lead.

pulled off a perfect team picking last week except captain.

Captains: with collingwood and GC playing the same time creates isssues. now im fairly sure gaz will smash the dees

was thinking Sj or Selwood into Ablett

now, i dont like the look of staker so he is an obvious D7.

issue again is who to drop out of mitchell jjk bartel.

im leaning towards again have bartel mid emergency with mitchell on the field. the great news is all my mids play before the sydney game starts.

than jjk f8 with haynes emg forward cover.

ruckline Goldy Minson with rowe cover.

i cant loophole;  hroovatt nicholls and neade play before he does.

the only thing i could do is take a punt on goldy captain but than i have no loophole if ablett goes big. dont think its worth the risk.

Ablett will go huge anywya. If SJ goes big though I will stick him captain and hope ablett spud it (he wont though)

update on the enemies.

1. no ruck cover, no forward cover and staker is F6
2. no ruck cover, terlich or staker as D6
3. no ruck cover
5. 1 ruck playing so donut unless he has trades

wheraes Holz's Heroes. Cover on every single line.

a late ruck out would be amazing for me, especially if its Dean Cox. I almost feel robbed if im not number 1 after this week. Team 1 doesnt deserve ot be top with no cover. They just keep getting lucky.

Yeah true but the 100pts gained from Selwood > Ablett is pretty good compensation.

I think you have him covered though, better cover and slightly better players.

He still has to play Buddy or Henderson and Terlich at D6.

Wonder how many trades his got left.

I'm not so sure it's a two horse race Holz, there's 3 rounds to go and one or two injuries / suspensions / restings will change the whole complexion of the contest. Anyone who is within 300 points still has a show, it would require some luck but I feel there's still a big sting in the tail to come.

In saying that, I hope you win it, it's been a pleasure following you progress though out the year. May the injury gods be kind.

Fair bit in favour of Holz. #3 has a bench of Thurlow and Clisby so that means no cover now.

Holz who were you thinking for VC and C ?

Pendles into Ablett or Ablett into Selly ? I would say Rocky but I don't think giving anyone the C against GWS is worth it.

Honestly if Hanley isn't back I'm gone.

Sj rocky could take punts on. But really maybeee I just go selly and hope the top guy gets unlucky. He has poor cover and injury probe players and is somehow forgo g all the bullets.

How do Hanley and heppel go down and eski keep powering on.

JK 60

v Shaw 122 and Priddis 120

Yeah he has won I could only manage a pitiful 2444. In typical fashion me having 3 players who could cover walker and ended up with 35 points. He normally has no cover and walks out with 66 from Ben Kennedy.

Need Shaw malceski terlich to all not play to stand a shot niw.

Captain choice is huge for next week, ablett so out of touch but playing GWS, loopholes broken because good teams playing early and crap teams later in the round. Good luck holz, with you all the way!!!
