Who will win? Also discuss the game and all. I think Qld will win tonight and the series.
Tom Waterhouse better not show up on my team.
Always been a NSW fan, been a rough last 5+ years...
Go you blues! Can we stitch it up on Wednesday?
Go Maroons
Queensland winning at half time. Anyone surprised is clearly be a New South Wales supporter.
QUEENSLANDER!
mate's a die hard so i've been following them for like 5 years
Was out the game - Got a phone call from Nephew at 6:oopm asking if I wanted to go to the game with him as his friend was very sick. Took 3 seconds to reply.
Qld were a lot more switched on than the first match and that was obvious from first hit up.
Well done bring on game 3.
Yeah you guys simply looked far better than my Blues yesterday from the get go, we didn't look dangerous all game.
Love a biff up though! :P
it all comes to an end tonight... and by that i mean NSW' hopes and dreams about beating the mighty maroons!! QUEENSLANDER

QUEENSLANDER!!!
Queensland's playmakers 1,3,4,6,7 and 9 are the best in the world in their positions (Slater, Inglis, Hodges, Thurston, Cronk and Smith) and we match NSW in the forward pack.
NSW have a rookie halves combination in Reynolds and Hodkinson from Canterbury who are shower. Canterbury are only on the top of the table due to their monsters in the forward pack who you cannot score past.
NSW have had all sorts of off-field dramas. A well-known radio broadcaster in Ray Hadley trying to get an assistant coach sacked due to the assistant coach having a relationship with Ray Hadley's estranged wife.
Which then caused a riff between the senior coach Laurie Daley and the Chairman of Selectors Bob Fulton, which has been sorted out.
NSW have had injuries and also off-field issues from Mitchell Pearce who was drunk and then was arrested after an altercation in a King's Cross nightclub.
Just typical issues from NSW.
While on the other hand, 2 weeks ago Thurston, Cronk, Smith and Slater played their best club matches of the season. All smooth sailing for Queensland apart from an injury to Thaiday, which is keeping him out of tonight's 1st game.
We will beat them tonight and win the series, 9 in a row. QUEENSLANDER!!
wish they'd start the bloody game

Don't give a crap about NRL but always love to see a Maroon win!
Cronk shoulder? broken arm? :-\
I don't watch heaps of NRL but I like it, but everytime I see/hear Phil Gould is it just me or does he come across as a guy who thinks his the biggest rugby genius in the world?
I duno, it's like he tries to get really deep if you know what I mean
I want a right to start soon. Gallen just hit someone mate. C'mon Maroons
Good half from the Blues ;)
QLD just keeping it interesting for the viewers Toges :P
Cam Smith also injured, Craig Bellamy is sitting at home crying right now.
At least Smith is up and going
Billy Slater is a beast of a man

meh. Its only game one.
Cronk off early with a broken arm didn't help.
Our forwards were slow early and didn't make any ground offensively. Once Te'o and Guerra came off the bench we looked a much better side, moving the ball quicker and getting into more attacking positions on the field, we simply didn't take our opportunities when we got the ball in our attacking 20m in the last 15 minutes.
Presuming Cronk won't be fit in 3 weeks time, I would suspect that a young kid by the name of Anthony Milford from the Canberra Raiders will replace him and go onto the bench with Cherry-Evans starting in the No.7 jumper
I would also suspect that Chris McQueen and Josh Papalii will be dropped, both were poor tonight and didn't provide the metres that the forward pack needed. Sam Thaiday, if fit, comes straight back into the starting side and IMO Dave Taylor should come in as well. He needs to play.
Credit to NSW, they for the most part were the better side however without Jarryd Hayne they are nothing. He won the game for NSW single handed. Keep him quiet in the next 2 games and Queensland will win.
great game 1 - spewing I missed most of the 1st half ... :( ;)
flowerIN COME ON QLD!!!!
who the flower are these cocksuckers? and why are they singing at the flowerING STATE OF ORIGIN
Real tight game - Very strong tough and physical opening half with Qld leading 4 - 0 at halft time. Only 2 penalty goals to Qld with no tries in first half.
Cue the showerstorm.
flower.
well done to NSW. obviously means a lot.
now let's see em do it 8 years in a row.
don't like their chances.
eat a fat one Queensland, flowering sore losing showerholes!!!
You blues :)
Congratulations to the Blues - Well done. Did not think the game could get any better than game 1 but think this one surpassed it.
A couple of controversial decisions (depending on which side of the border you live on) but taking nothing away from the game.
Surely the ratings etc should convince the AFL to bring back State of Origin.
Think this would draw a big crowd and perhaps fill the MCG.
Victoria v Combined South Australia and West Australia SOO.
Curtain Raiser:
Victoria 2nd Team v Combined Qld, NSW, Tas and NT SOO side.
Just a thought.
Could evem be played as a prelude to the season after the preseason and do away with split first round.
Horrible non decision by the video ref to not give the ball to Qld when Wood touched it before it went out after the kickoff. Massive blunder that cost Qld any chance of winning.
Having said that NSW handled the game better than QLD who dropped and fumbled way more than you often see them do.
Really waiting to hear why Video referees denied Thaiday the try as well. Just rewatched the game and as Hayne dislodged the ball from Thaidays grasp it should have been play on and Thaiday scores by falling on the ball. Secondly there were 2 in the tackle so at worst should have been a Penalty to Qld for raking the ball.
in saying that though Qld made too many errors in the second half possibly as a result of being 2 rotations down with Scott and Tate both injured.
Overall pleased that NSW won for the state of the game.
There seems to be some discussion around that Qld may not be mentally right for game 3. Do not where that is coming from as Qld will be anxious to avoid a clean sweep of the series by NSW,
Tahiday didnt re gather that ball, no way no how, just fell on it...
that said surely u maroons arent going that route, ya had the best rub of the green for the longest time...

2 mins later penalty for queensland for off side
Queenslander!!
Should have won by a lot more but a win is a win.
Enjoyed went to our usual Origin Party where we watched it on the huge screen with Pizza and ......
Think ASADA should be asked to review what was in the coconut milk NSW had at half time. Something effected their performance in the second half.
Despite the closeness of the game was one of the most disappointing origin games I have seen for a while. Error riddled game and only the defence of both sides was the reason scores were close. Some soft penalties could be argued whether looking with Blue or Maroon eyes.
No one can blame the referees for the decisions this year although Slaters "no try" in the first half would have been talked about if Qld had lost. And when Smith was held up over the line the whole NSW team were offside should have been on the goal line but none were.
No one can argue that the better team did win. Only decision I disagreed with was Cam Smith man of the match. Mine would have been Cronk not for the winning field goal but his general play on the night.
I had the normal ritual. Catching up with a bunch of mates from High School at the Bowls Club.
Had a very good Chicken Parmigiana for Dinner and then consumed quite a few schooners of James Squire.
The Slater "no try" was a very poor decision, but the Queensland refs (1st time in 17 years not a NSW ref) needed to show their equality somehow.
Both teams seemed to be offside all night, but not called which was annoying.
And when did Wally become a Blue? Must be in the contract when calling SOO on Channel 9.

NSW score first try
Queensland lead at HT
Queensland win the game
Cam Smith BOG
Have read the script and i dont really like it
1st game is always close
2nd game QLD will win by 10+
3rd game QLD will win by 20+ and a lot of Queenslanders will retire
Not bad predictions Cap and I will take them - Reckon Thurston, Hodges, Scott and Parker and maybe Slater may retire after game 3.
Reckon the real turning point in the game when Hodgkinson failed to find touch and then Qld had 4 sets of 6 following it on NSW Line eventually leading to Chambers try.

i only watched 10 mins of the game as i have given up watching SOO. Daley is a showere coach and Mal is just a figure head and just tells the team to go out there and give it to NSW. Everyone knows that Michael Hagan is doing all the work on the team

The Greg Inglis no try was basically a decision by David Gyngell saying " I want a live decider in 3 weeks"
Motherflowering disgraceful decision in what arguably was the worst Refereed origin game I have ever seen.

My take on the game as we watched on a large screen with about 20 of us.
Like AFL referees try and do the best they can but with all the scrutiny in NRL compared to AFL every incorrect decision tends to be highlighted.
Sure there were controversial decisions and I am still trying to see the knock on for the no try (may have got a finger on it) but also bear in mind NSW had some decisions early go against them.
Was a great advertisement promoting the game in Melbourne. Was more open than game one and showed what they game is all about. From a Qld perspective we really missed Cooper Cronk (gee I hope he is right for game 3) as imo THurston's general kicking in the game not as good as Cronks.
Anyway I will be there in 2 weeks time when Cam Smith holds the shield up. ;D ;D
QLD played like NSW and NSW played like Queensland.
NSW went the niggle and QLD sooked to the refs. No one from QLD did anything after Thurston got hit twice after kicking. DCE is a bust and worse he made Pearce look like a decent player. He is QLDs Anasta!!! Thanks DCE, now Pearce keeps his spot.
I still dont know why the Inglis try was disallowed but you move on. I know i have to send the check to the video ref now instead of the refs on field. At least it isnt back to the 80s when the refs feed the scrum for QLD to give them an advantage
They were lots of rumours up here that if QLD won then Billy would have hung up the QLD boots and said thanks very much as his shoulder is shower
Fair comment Cap and agree NSW will find it hard to drop Pearce. NSW targeted DCE which was obvious so in effect made Pearce look better than he was hence my comment hope Cronk is fir for decider,
One interesting fact that is overlooked apart from the blowouts there has been very little separating these 2 sides despite Qlds domination of the series over the last 10 years. If you take out the blow out scores from a couple of dead rubbers in 23 games since 2006 when Qld run started Total score is NSW 347 Qld 385. Just to show how close the 2 sides really are.
Have just rewatched the no try ruling and if Nat Myles has knocked on which was the ruling then the ball was knocked into Morgan who was off side so why no penalty? Just saying.
Heard the rumour about Slater as well.
As for refereeing bring back the Grasshopper or Hollywood Bill for those of us old enough to remember.
Kicking A like no 2morrow, Go Queensland
No surprise that once the lure of a 'decider' is no more, that QLD are wrecking...
Queensland. ;)

The decider 2night! Go QLD!!
Why coudnt Queensland picked DCE so NSW can win
the ball goes to Hayne and he gets tackled
How good was Muster in his first game - The next JT.
I dint see who MOM or MOS was but Munster was MOM but Gagai was MOS for me
Gaggai was MOS and Cameron Smith MOM - Munster unlucky in my opinion.
Next year Capper - Think Daley will stand down.
The difference was QLD didnt realy turn up the first game. They expected to get it done and NSW fwds and defence hurt them.
In the 2nd game NSW had it in the bag but threw it away. Fwds were going sideways like gallen and Watmough used to. Looked like there was a gentlemens agreement not to hurt Thurston too much otherwise NSW would have run at Thurston more.
Game 3 in QLD, NSW was never going to win. They showed glimpses and finally followed through on a bomb and scored. Who would have thought. But too many players were standing idle whilst QLD just run riot. Should have been a blow out.
Dont think Daley will stand down as he has no club coaching role. NSW used the least amount of players in a series to try and wrap it up whilst QLD used the most ever.
Munster is going to be a pain in NSW's side for years to come. Hopefully QLD pick DCE and give NSW a go at winning a series

Not picking him was a masterstroke, he needs to harden up, still can go missing in big games and origin is bigger than that.
NSW would target the crap out of him and he would falter IMO, thats why he did get the gig in game 3
Was a great win by QLD, but as you have said NSW threw it away in game 2.
