Making some threads for the future :) By the time they come round, you may have to go looking for them!
To avoid controversy, teams can be accepted for the round for membership points purposes ON the hour after the last game of the round finishes (i.e. if the last game finishes at 5:45pm, teams can be accepted from 6:00pm --> Will use fanfooty clock).
Round split over two AFL rounds! No rolling lock-out, but you can name 5 emergencies!
Round 11
(AFL Round 11 + Round 12 scores from Brisbane, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Richmond, Western Bulldogs)
Cape Town Cobras v Buenos Aires Armadillos Newlands Cricket Ground
Sao Paulo Pumas v Wellington Warriors Estádio do Pumas
Pacific Islanders v Toronto Wolves Oakley Arena
Mexico City Suns v Moscow Spetsnaz Fireball Stadium, Mexico City
New York Revolution v Berlin Brewers MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, USA
Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers v London Royals Stade de Gerland
Dublin Destroyers v Seoul Magpies Crooke Park
Tokyo Samurai v New Delhi Tigers National Olympic Stadium, Tokyo
Beijing Thunder v Cairo Sands Beijing Olympic Park
Highlights:
Cape Town have been wondrously consistent, without ever being dominant. While the Armadillos have been amazingly dominant, without ever being consistent. Who will win! A replay of last year's preliminary final which saw Cape Town comfortably into the first grand final.
Sao Paulo are just waiting for the Suns to slip up after comfortably taking care of London last week. Wellington will not give them any trouble.
The Islanders are in deep trouble, and desperately need Rockliff and the Berger back. With or without, a win against the strong Wolf outfit looks impossible.
The Spetsnaz have won 6 in a row! But the Suns have won 13 in a row. Can Moscow continue its momentum? Or will the juggernaught that is Mexico City show them up as a contender?
A HUGE match against the Revolution and the Brewers - two teams who have improved dramatically last year after finishing in the bottom 4. Both are at 5-5, and this is a huge oppurtunity. Not only will win keep them in touch with the top 8, but a loss makes it that much harder for the opposition. Last year, the Brewers notched up an incredible 61 point victory.
London need and want this win to arrest a slide in form which has seen them lose 3 of the last 4. I do not think PNL have the personnel to take them on.
A loss here to Seoul, and they can kiss 2013 goodbye. The preseason champions have not been able to pull it together this year! Meanwhile, Dublin have shown some real bit this year and are in with a shot of making finals also! A lot of interested parties will be watching this match.
A much needed win is on the way for Tokyo against New Delhi... Although they did lose to the Pacific earlier in the year.
Cairo will look to go 6-5 against Beijing.

Guessing because if Maric doesnt play he wont have any playing ruckman so can use a rookie?

It does, Sandi will be gone soon and Clarke is a gun they are winning with him as the sole ruck he will be number 1 soon.

One team's loss is another team's gain :'(. Griffin was in great form, so think he can hold Clarke out next season... I'd hope ::).

With Pavlich and Rioli having an extra week off and both close to returning, both have been named as a risk. If they are unable to play, have Casboult and Jones waiting in the wings to cover for them. Same for Lobbe although he has no replacement Ruck. Williams gets his first nod for the season given he plays, with Grundy getting the chop.

lots of people missed the extra emergencies this week:
All this will be based on preferences when final teams announced next week!

Cape Town - Needs a R5
Tokyo - R4, R5
New Delhi - R4, R5
Dublin - R4, R5, Need a VC
EDIT: Ok, I said 'can' name 5 emergencies, so it was a choice. No preferences will be given

Good question. I looked at Fox Sports 3 quarter time SC score, and it was 75, he touched the ball like 4 times in the last quarter and one of those sort of cost the match, and yet he ended up with 106!
Couldn't believe Hibberd got more than 50! Let alone 74. Also surprised with Hepp's low score.

Ablett unstoppable again! It's really not fair that I get him haha! :P Sloane solid without being spectacular, and Smith was impressive up front. Adams a little disappointing and will have to impress during training to remain in the team. McMahon again pulled out a low score and may find himself out of the team next round, especially if Waters gets back from injury.

Jenkins and Pyke the only real let downs, everyone else has been good. 5 centuries from the first 8 is promising. The fact our backline can still crack 400 (assuming Birchall gets at least 84) with Fisher & Dempsey out is comforting.

New Delhi are a genuine shot of taking down Tokyo!
New Delhi are 720 from 8, with Captain yet to play
Tokyo are 999 from 11, Captain has played
Tokyo still the favourites, but if Black goes nuts...
We suck :'(
Hopefully we can score 400 from our 2 players today. A Swan 150*2 and a McKenzie 100 would be STELLAR.
Had a dream last night that Schulz played a match and score 0 points for the entire match. Hopefully it doesn't happen next week.

My calculations have the match at,
Mexico: 180 + Adcock + Ebert + Hodge + Maric + Lewis
vs
Moscow: Murphy + Hombsch + Griffen (c) + Fyfe + Martin + Monfries
I'm avg slightly more per player (he's on 1010 from 10+1) so should be pretty close. I've still got my two best players to come, including one as captain, but on the other hand my worst player left is Hombsch (avg 121 but only player one game) while his is Hodge (arguably).
:(
(http://i43.tinypic.com/be7ckz.jpg)
Yet, I still think I'm a chance. Franklin needs to score 130+, which he is yet to do this year, but is possible. Conca, Jackson and Edwards need to score 100+, which again is possible.
Birchall needs to score 100 or less, and the other New Yorkers need to score less than 80, which I think is possible.
But, miracles are rare and I'm not counting on one, congratulations New York.

Have you considered that Macrae/Stevens/Crozier may not play? Has been something I've been sweating on since the round started...Also if Birchall is a late out again I will get stuck with Batchelor (Schofield, Fisher, Dempsey all missing) and he might not get named either. Which would give me OOP players.

It's a bit depressing seeing the scores the team puts up this week. It's pretty rare for us to have all of our best XV on the park at once, it's even more depressing to see the scores guys like Liam Shiels, Matt Rosa, Tapscott put up every week. :(
Hopefully Q and I will be able to pull off some trades that will make us more competitive next year.

Yep, as a fellow young team we will likely be looking to secure some 2 for 1 deals with Beijing. Adds to their depth and adds to our top line. Sure others will look to do the same.
Hopefully so Sid - but no one is gonna rip us off like the last coaches got ripped off! :P

Well, we're definitely trading him to someone. I can't stand him. I'm happy with our starters in Hanley, Goodes, Malceski and Newman. Also assuming Clancee Pearce gains defender status to become DPP.

Royals Update
Defenders:TUOHY, Zach (65) ; MACKIE, Andrew (74) O'BRIEN, Harry (78); REILLY, Brent (78)
Mids: MACKAY, David/Danyle Pearce ; HANNEBERY, Daniel (126);STANTON, Brent (106); McVEIGH, Jarrad (105)
Ruck: LAIRD, Rory oop (35)
Forwards: HILL, Josh(55) STAKER, Brent; MAYNE, Chris; WINDERLICH, Jason (85);
Utilities: PEARCE, Danyle/ Ben Reid (78), RAMPE, Dane (96)
Emergencies: REID, Ben (79) , BROADBENT, Matthew, LYNCH, Quentin (107), CACHIA, Jaryd (55), BROWN, Mitch (47)
982/12 (Captain played).
May be upset by the Reindeers unless last 3 pull out big games next week.
Question now Oss
With Brent Reilly not playing this week does Reid replace Reilly being first named back in emergencies with Broadbent now replacing Pearce on Utilities.
Brent Reilly has already played for you though Ringo. Doesn't matter that he isn't playing this week.
D - H. Scotland, SD 80. Thompson 109, Burgoyne, T. Logan
M - Swan (C), Boyd, Barlow, K. Cornes
R - R. Warnock
F - S. Johnson 111 (VC), D. Petrie 82, B. Harvey 74, J. Schulz
UTI - D. Cox 132, D. Cross
EMG - J. McKenzie, Dea, J. Redden, P. Stewart, M. Osborne
588/6
Red = DNP
Orange = Not Listed
Bold = listed to play
So I have Warnock and Cross both out
Therefore Cox > Ruck and then McKenzie and P. Stewart > Utility yes? (if Stewart lines up)
Otherwise we might be copping a doughnut with Redden and Dea both being outs. This week was confusing.
Nails why don't you have the score from Swan in your progressive score?
Oops
Took it from my 2nd most recent updated and copy pasted, not my most recent update.

Round 11
(AFL Round 11 + Round 12 scores from Brisbane, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Richmond, Western Bulldogs)
So only the above teams will get scores this round, the others teams playing will be counted towards the State of Origin.
On the teams, Pavlich and Rioli not named so Casboult and Jones will come in. Hopefully Jones can do well considering I put him in emergencies over Maister. Lobbe named so have a ruck again :D. Rich also recalled, so could feature for us in a week or two if he finds form 8).

Nice to have Carrazzo back for the next round of WXV :)
wouldn't have to put up with shower like McKenzie if he was back a week earlier. Boyd back as well. Watch out the Dillos are building towards full strength.
Luke Breust with a cringeworthy performance. :-X
Well, watching the game I was expecting about 60 from Birchall.
Pleasantly surprised with the score from our captain. :)

I am on 1037/12 Captain played, so you are (with HGA added) 71 points ahead with one less played :(

Tom Liberatore 70
Jackson Macrae 50
Koby Stevens 60
Hayden Crozier 55

Daniel Jackson 100
Reece Conca 107

Okay, that's embarrassing. Genuinely disgusted with how poor the lads have gone. Puopolo our best scoring forward in the emergencies. a 96 from Gibbo in the emergencies too. Two best scoring Hawks not even in the team. Sigh. At least they're doing their bit for the reserves. Also, Sam Rowe's 55 was better than all but one of our starting forwards. That's shocking. Need some monster scorers from Hanley, Newy, Goodes, Griggy and Clancee to make the score look respectable.

What a horrible performance. I deserve to lose.
So do we Purps, I can't stress enough how fortunate we are to playing Beijing.
Gibson, Johannisen to play next week. Eski and Goodes should survive the cut. Hanley and Newman are goneski though. They can join Stanley in playing for Alexandria.
Petrenko obviously won't play and and Breust might get dropped for Rowe if he gets named next week for Carlton.

You're going to drop Hanley? :o
Out of favour at Cairo? Can we have him? Please?
You would have to give us Heppell, and even then, it's no certainty. :P
He's gotta lift his game. We've had Johannisen and Gibson scoring well in the reserves for weeks while Hanley has done shizenhousen.
So Hanley's might be trying to save himself from the Cairo axe after all! :o

We need Hombsch, Monfries, Murphy and Griffen (c) to score 363 to win tomorrow; an average of 73 per player.

We need Hombsch, Monfries, Murphy and Griffen (c) to score 363 to win tomorrow; an average of 73 per player.
With Hombsch and Angus playing GWS and having the third-best sc'er for 2013 to come as captain, I'm quietly confident we'll end their unbeaten streak and go 7 straight.
I have:
Mexico City - 1360 + Brad Ebert + HGA of 36
Moscow - 1033 + Griffen (c) + Monfries + Murphy + Hombsch
So... a little bit more difficult, but still strong!
gah forgot about Ebert :/ yeah it'll be pretty hard now. Knew my calcs were too good to be true. Gotta be optimistic though- we're a good shot at this if our boys perform tomorrow.
Mexico City: 1499 ALL DONE
V
Moscow: 1231 WITH Ryan Griffen (C) & Robert Murphy
I think we have this. 268 needed from Captain Griff and Murph.
Final scores change it a little torp, although only very slightly. Mexico finish on 1,504, and Moscow on 1,238. So need 267 for the win, 266 for the draw.
Hoping you do win it, because then with my smashing of Warriors (could blow out to 50 points) I will be back on top :)

I have the Suns on 1504 all done, and Moscow on 1238.... Might have made a mistake though?
Go Moscow! Giant killers.
@Jaybag -->Good news! The Berger will play!! A late inclusion because you ran out of emergencies. Bad news - at quarter points.
Oh well, thanks Oss. At least he is playing! :P
Also - New York need 251 points (assuming none score less than 20) from Liberatore, Stevens and Macrae. SHOULD do it, but you never know....

Beat me to it!
I JUST FOUND ANOTHER 100 points! I forgot to double Wells' captain score!
I looked at my players, and I thought, 1266 is a bit low, we didn't do that bad, and I realised I forgot to double wells' score!
I absolutely lost it when I found that lol, I think I'm a real chance now!
And to think I was thinking I was a 100 points less ever since the Gold Coast - North Melbourne game lol, I honestly think I can win now. I'll be staring at the FF updater with great stress now lol.
If I lose, IT CANNOT be less than 24 points, because I would have got another 24 points if I had stuck with buddy as captain the week I finally take it off him lol
Libba, Macrae, Stevens - 116 at half time
So they need to get 135 to draw
:-\
Chasing 267 for victory we have Griffen on 53 (x2) and Murphy 64 at half time, meaning we're on 170. Well on track to reach the target, could be exciting though! Anything could happen!
*sigh*
We're going to lose..again. What a downer.

Libba, Stevens and Macrae - 172
:-\ :-\ :-\
I can afford 78 more points :-X
Those 24 points from buddy looking pretty good right now
You knew it may have backfired the one round you take it off him Purps :P.
Macrae had a great last quarter but there were no SC points there to be won. :(
Well done Purps.
@ Os, any possibility that for the byes next year we can nominate which round we want the score from a player that is going to play both weeks? Just kind of thinking out loud, but it can't be denied luck plays a part in the current system which could be construed as a flaw.

Hi Sid - I don't understand that logic at all. Each round has an element of luck to it. Why is the split different? Nominating a round wouldn't eliminate that luck....

Hi Sid - I don't understand that logic at all. Each round has an element of luck to it. Why is the split different? Nominating a round wouldn't eliminate that luck....
Well for example.
Say Rd 11 and 12 are just regular rounds with 9 games played.
In round 11, I don't want to play Dyson Heppell because he is playing Carlton and they tend to use several taggers on opposition midfielders. Being a damaging player when loose, but definitely very 'taggable' he seems like a prime target for MM.
So he sits out for round 11.
Now in round 12, he is playing GC. GC tend to use less taggers and he has a nice record against them, averaging 86 against them over his career.
Makes complete logical sense that we should be able to choose who we play him against. It's a tactical decision.
This is how it works for every round except for the bye weeks. It just doesn't quite make sense to me.
This season I probably would have opted to have the Rd 12 games from McKenzie, Heppell, Cloke and Giles (off the top of my head) because of less taggers, weaker direct opposition, weaker team opposition etc.
Also, say...Dayne Beams. He didn't play for Collingwood in round 11 due to injury, so naturally you don't name him. He gets named in round 12, so you bring him back in, right? Not in the bye rounds you don't.
I still don't understand Sid - in no other round you can choose. Basically the options are you name them, or you don't. It sounds like you are proposing a third option - they don't play, they play one round or they play another.
Each AFL team plays 22 matches, but wxv only lasts 21 rounds. Whatever way it goes, you have to miss one of these.

Crozier sub really hurt us.
7 guys hitting the ton (8 including the C) and we still couldn't get to 1400. Really need the guys that don't get 100+ to get 80s instead of 50s...
Looking forward to getting some of our better players back, our injury list is looking long at the moment, and our depth is kind of getting exposed.

This was a game we needed to win if we wanted to cement place in the 8. Injuries hit hard but we still should have had sufficient players to defeat the reindeers. May be the time to relieve Stanton of the captaincy after 2 disappointing games whilst McVeigh and Hanneberry have been outstanding

What happens if you pick a player for 2nd round then isn't named 2nd round or is a late withdrawal what happens then? Emergency?
Also re: Dayne Beams
It's easy, you just name him. That's why you have 5 emergencies. If you know your emergencies will play, just name a mid emergency to cover Beams or play Beams as an emergency.. Therefore if Beams is named you get his score, if not you already know you have an emergency. That's why I named Daniel Cross despite the fact he hasn't played for like 5 weeks.

I did the above for Pavlich, Rioli and Lobbe (had nothing to lose naming Lobbe). Pav + Rioli didn't play, but had Casboult/Jones named in emergencies to cover. Probably best way to do it to see about players playing 2nd week.
I noticed Cooney running around in the 2s also, wouldn't have mattered to the result, but is definitely the right way to go
