Question:
Which one will be better?
Option 1: Hartlett
Option 2: Heppell
Option 3: Keep Hartlett and trade Birchall to Jack Grimes
Currently have Hartlett locked in.
My backline:
Goddard, Stanley, Gibbs, Birchall, Hartlett, Pittard, Docherty, Terlich
could change it to:
Goddard, Stanley, Gibbs, Birchall, Heppell, Pittard, Docherty, Terlich
or:
Goddard, Grimes, Stanley, Gibbs, Hartlett, Pittard, Docherty, Terlich
Really tough one mate. Would say that Heppell is probably 'safer' than Hartlett, given he is young and already averaging 85, while Hartlett is very injury prone but could go BANG this year.
Grimes is also another safe bet to be top 4 defenders this year, but also has injury risk with him.
Safe: Heppell
BANG: Hartlett
Top 4: Grimes

Yeah it is a difficult decision. I wish I could just upgrade Hartlett to Grimes and then I could keep Birchall. I'm worried if I don't pick up Hartlett he could go on and average a 95-98 season
Heppell over Hartlett definitely. Will average more at about 96 while I can't see Hartlett passing 93 let alone 90. Dys has only missed 2 games from 44 since being drafted, compared to HH missing 42 from 88 :O
Would prefer Hartlett and Heppell to Birchall, though.
Interestingly enough I actually have Paul Duffield ($426,800) in my team ahead of Hartlett atm :o Just think there might be a bit of chopping and changing in the port team this year as the team develops and the coach tries to establish roles in the team :-X
Probably favour Heppell but i think five prem backs is to many mate tbh. One of your lines must be fairly light on.
:o didn't realise you had 5 premium backs!
Defence rookies are actually quite good this year with Goodes, Terlich, Docherty, Vlastuin, Pittard, Stevenson and co. so i'd whack one of them in there (maybe ahead of birchall) and then you can upgrade elsewhere?
Heppel for me
I only have 4 premo mids
Swan, Pendles, Redden & Murphy
if I was to downgrade one of the premos, which one should it be?

Do you have any midpricers in your mids. ?
Id be looking at downgrading Birch or Hartlett.
Got both behind Gibbs and Hartlett but if one was to go it would be Heppell. Something about me says if your going to have Hartlett have him from the start. While he's fit he'll score well. He'll go bang then everyone will jump on and he'll get injured. Atleast if you start him you might hopefully get a few really good scores to get the jump on opponents.
Basically all im saying is I'd be very nervous trading him in.
I have Hartlett in at the moment, just think he's classier than the other two but i agree, very fraguile. That could also be a bias call btw :)

Nope, everything but the bias call bit is spot on, but in DT we can afford to risk these players

I looked at having only 4 prems but i gotta say mate looks pretty weak. Personal choice though but i didnt like it.
I can sub Hartlett around with B Goodes and then I can choose to play Hartlett as M5 and Goodes and Pittard as D5 & 6, This also gives me the choice of upgrading Hartlett for Nathan Fyfe.
This will leave my backline like this:
Goddard, Stanley, Gibbs, Birchall, Pittard, Goodes, Docherty, Terlich
and my midfield like this:
Swan, Pendles, Redden, Murphy, Hartlett/Fyfe, Kane Mitchell, Couch, O'Meara, Neade, Viney
Any thoughts on the move? and if you agree tell me your thoughts on Hartlett vs. Fyfe :)
Looks better, think Fyfe has a bigger ceiling than Hamstrings so id go that way.

I've seen some player profiles on Fyfe and talked to some mates and they all had predictions that were around the 100-105 average area. Do you think he could really score that? If he can average 101+ I would happily take him but I have doubts about it

Yeh i do think he can avg between 100 to 105, he's a very talented player and has bulked up and had a good preseason.
Id pick him over Hartlett everytime and thats not being disrespectful to Hamish i think he's a quality player also but i rate Fyfe just a bit better at this stage in their careers.
Fyfe easly ! but if you want to keep dpp take heppell and switch him with gibbs ?
Have really warmed to Heppell over the past week, gotta be him first imo.
Heppell - Birchall - Hartlett

Really like that move mate. I myself really want to start fyfey but have gone 5 full premiums in my mids.
He averaged what, 98 in his second year? :o injury free he is surely on line for 101-105 I would think...
But yeah swap Hartlett & Goodes, then trade Hartlett -> Fyfe ;)
reding the thread i reckon Birchall - Heppell - Hartlet
however if there was zero risk of injury to hartlett I could see him averaging the most out of the 3 easily. star just can't get a full preseason without injury interruption or a full season without injury so he has developed slowly, but he is capable of being an elite midfielder birchall is an elite defender and Heppell for mine is a fair way off being an elite midfielder (unlike Birchall he will be a midfielder full time soon enough).
I've made the move to get Fyfe
My Backline is now:
Goddard, Stanley, Gibbs, Birchall, Pittard, Goodes, Docherty, Terlich
My Midfield is now:
Swan, Pendlebury, Redden, Murphy, Fyfe, Mitchell, O'Meara, Crouch, Neade, Viney
I'm really looking forward to Fyfe. I've only heard positive things about him and was chosen as a rookie in my 2011 dreamteam over Ballentyne which really worked out then but after 2012 thought he'd turn out like Liam Anthony
I could go Birchall to Heppell but I don't really feel comfortable about it. Everyone has told me Heppell will average more, but Birchall still seems like the safe choice to me. If I could find the cash to do a Birchall -> Grimes trade I'd make it which means I'd only have to free up $20k

Looks good mate, go with your gut regarding Birch/Hepp its easier to live with than being talked out of something that comes off and if it doesnt you backed yourself and thats easier to swallow.

Yeah? So?
My draft league team has Stanton, Zaharakis, Howlett, Bellchambers and Ryder?
The amount I like a team has little to no bearing on my fantasy selections ;)

haha cheers man. That is good advice I'll stay with Birchall, I think I'll keep Grimes as an upgrade target this season so I have something I really want to work for in my backline
Looks really good mate. :) Nice work!
Love Fyfey!! Got him at M5 atm with Moloney & Embley behind him. Should avg 105 pretty comfortably IMO
While I rate Hartlett as a good pick, Fyfey will absolutely smash him in averages. I reckon Hartlett - 90 / Fyfe - 100-105.
But keep Birch in there, he is a great unique with his amazing consistency. I've got him at D4 too.

Good idea to have a plan mate adds extra incentive when you have a target to chase. Goodluck for 2013.
