A simple game...
The lowest scoring team is eliminated each week, until we have a winner!
You can get immunity from elimination if you had the highest score the week before (up until round 10) - in which case the 2nd lowest scoring team is eliminated.
Eliminated Teams
R1: New Delhi Tigers
R2: Beijing Thunder
R3: Wellington Warriors
R4: Pacific Islanders
R5: Cairo Sands
R6: Berlin Brewers
R7: PNL Reindeers
R8: New York Revolution
R9: Seoul Magpies
R10: London Royals
R11: Cape Town Cobras
R12: Buenos Aires Armadillos
R13: Tokyo Samurai
R14: Moscow Spetsnaz
R15: Toronto Wolves
R16: Sao Paulo Pumas
R17: Dublin Destroyers
Winner: Mexico City Suns
should be something interesting each week to add to the comp. Maybee top scoring team from the week before gets immunity?
Yea would be fun and Holzs' suggestion is also good
I like the sound of this. :)
Like it as a little bit of extra fun.
Holz's rule should be included but only to say round 10 as after that it will be legitmate for Top team to fall.
Sounds interesting, not the biggest fan of the name however, but that doesn't really matter.
so teams will be scored on dreamteam and supercoach points?

Really like this idea
Haha, sounds fun :P
Sounds good Ossie!
What the majority say. If it doesn't mean much more work, sounds like a good idea :). It is more of an additional thing to have, don't make it a necessity if it gets too much.
Shouldn't really be all that hard HP. Just have a list of the 18 teams then each week whoever scores least gets deleted from the list. I could probably do it in about 2 minutes each week, but this is ossie so it will be done in 5 seconds ;)

With those excel spreadsheets probably right :P.
And for the first time, World Idol... And I'm happy to change the name... starts this round :)
New Delhi eliminated :(
Sao Paulo gets a free pass next round, unlikely they'll need it!
Not suprising. We had a horrid round.
Free pass :)
Good stuff Oss. Well done Pumas, would have to be premiership favourites?
And the Islanders survive for another round :D
anti-climactic round tbh.
How are Pumas favourite Jay? We had 5 of our best XV out and still only scored 4 less than the Pumas :o (not aware of any pumas injuries, they might have lots)

Cobras, Suns, Pumas are the rightful top 3 favourites imo. You are around the mark but not on those three teams' level.

Have to disagree there. Armadillos improved their list quite a bit (fr the short term) over the summer. Cape Town still has some big holes around the ground and reckon it will get the better of them this year.
Suns, Pumas, Armadillos top 3 with Cobras a step behind and Tokyo not far off the mark either.
Pumas I'd have to say in the best position by far beyond the next two seasons though...
*Just my opinion...
Scored nearly as high as Pumas with some big outs.
Just wait until we have our best XV back together (if ever). With the likes of Matty Boyd, Stevie J, Heath Scotland, Brent Harvey and 1-2 others to return.
We'll be a force to be reckoned with.
did somebody say Tokyo? :o
Its only been one round, so I'd say it's unfair to separate Suns, Armadillos and Pumas.
I'm happy with the underdog tag then! Think I'm still level with these teams.
Yeah don't know why people don't rate you MC. You have what is easily the strongest mid group going around and that is where the majority of points come from.

Cheers lads!
How is
Trent Cotchin
Jobe Watson
Josh P. Kennedy
Ryan O'Keefe
Adam Cooney
Edward Curnow
Karmichael Hunt
EASILY better than
Swan
Boyd
Barlow < all seen what we can do this year.
Carrazzo 103 average without his 3 point injury sub game
Cross 102 average without his subbing
K Cornes
J. McKenzie
I'd say it's pretty close tbh.
Cotch = Swan
Watson > Boyd
JPK > Barlow
O'Keefe > Carrazzo
Cooney = Cross considering Cooney at full fitness this year.
You a bit optimistic on a few of those.
My midfield is my weakness, but in every other department I believe I am in the Top 2. Forwards, Backs and Rucks are solid.
who was eliminated this week? :o
Indeed!
And the Suns get the bye next week
Nice :)
Goodbye Wellington, and the Pumas get the bye next week
Another bye :) If I wasn't playing the Spetsnaz next week I would play some youngsters, but gotta go full strength against the only team never to lose to me!
phew thought with the Mcpharlin fiasco him scoring 0 and amking our HGA = 0
was worried it was going to be us out
Goodbye Pacific!
And Buenos Aires with the bye!
Goodbye to you too Ossie.

And Sao Paulo get yet another bye!
Don't know how Tokyo are still in this but ;D
Cairo's sad to exit. It was good while it lasted. :(
Farewell to BERLIN, who would be very disappointed...
And Mexico City earn the bye....
Mexico get another bye (I think only 3 clubs have had the bye). And Reindeers are out (I think)...

And we say goodbye to NEW YORK :(
And Sao Paulo get the bye!
The Seoul Magpies are eliminated - and the Mexico City Suns get the last ever bye (not that anybody has needed it so far).
Just for some perspective... These are the teams left in this comp!
1 Mexico City Suns 1419 1214 9 0 116.89

Already in the top half Holz :) 9 out, 9 left!
You have finished in the top half holz. 9 teams out and 9 teams left
You are guaranteed a finish in the top half Holzman. 50% of teams have been eliminated 50% remain.
still thinking back to the 16 team afl comp.
I want to make final 8 so have one more week to survive.
We now say goodbye to the London Royals :(
No more byes! Not that anybody needed them.
Position Name
1 Mexico City Suns
2 Sao Paulo Pumas

18 Beijing Thunder
Tokyo and Dublin sneaking by!
Disappointed to leave but with a low score this week always on the cards.
made the 8 im satisfied. Im prepared to go out next round.
Glad I didn't get eliminated this round :-[
Shame byes are gone, would've felt good winning another.
Hey os, don't know if this has ever been answered, but does HGA come in to this? Or is everyone scored on their base score before some teams get the HGA?
Cape Town might be in trouble this week :o
Comp really starting to heat up now! Wolves can be VERY up and down so hopefully the boys can time the bad days well so that someone else has a worse week haha.
I've been including HGA, mostly to be simple - a score is a score :P
And the Cobras say goodbye :(
Despite a 4-7 record, the Samurai are still in this
Imagine if Tokyo win this!
Cinderella story.
Just noticed 4 of my last 5 games are away from home, including the last 2. That's going to make it difficult in the final few rounds to stay in :(

I have my last four away :P luckily only one of them is against top eight opposition.
I've still got 3 against top 8 sides, Cairo (8th) next round followed by Wolves (6th) and finishing the home and away season against Mexico City (2nd)...
Maybe Spettyz, Pumas, Suns and Dillos are HGA pretenders
5 of our last 6 away
Basically round 14 = our last home game
Last 5 games all away. #ossiehatesthetopteams #triedtomakeuspeakearly
Our matches:
Rd 12 - New Delhi (15th) - Us Home
Rd 13 - Wellington (16th) - Away
Rd 14 - Mexico City (2nd) - Away ( :( y we waste a home game on New Delhi and get stuck away here)
Rd 15 - Seoul (10th) - Away
Rd 16 - Tokyo (13th) - Away
Rd 17 - New York (11th) - Away
Could our pretty high percentage shoot up with these matches? Next two rounds you'd think we have in the bag. Only 1 top 8 team left over our final 6...
I think our last 5 or 6 are at home. ;D
Should be handy as we try to stay in the 8. 8)

I would say Moscow would be favourites for this at the moment. In some good form, whilst myself and Mexico are stuttering a little...
This has just further strengthened my confidence that the Wolves are just sitting behind the big 3/4 (Armadillos look shaky and Moscow move into the top 3 well and truly)
Will be happy with finishing in the final 4 here, surely Tokyo's run will end eventually? :P

Not a great formline for what should be the top 4 scoring teams at all really...would hope for 140+ comfortably.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make is those scores are greatly boosted by back to back 300's from Pendles, the rest of the team has been a little ordinary and we need to stop relying on Pendles to get us a good/decent score. He's only 1 man!

Clearly he would come at quite a cost, but he would be available if you made a good offer ;)

It was fun while it lasted! :(
Good luck all.
Thought I'd give a quick update on how the final 3 teams are going this week...
Suns - 1,141/10, Adcock, Ebert, Merrett, Addison, Maric to play
Pumas - 1,091/11, Hartlett, Houli, Masten, Minson to play
Desttroyers - 1,247/11, Rance, Boak, Redden, Gray, + HGA (currently 57) to play
Looks like it's going to be between the Suns and Destroyers next week to see who is the World Idol!
Go Dublin!
I wonder what odds they were paying at the start of the competition?

Probably 100 to win..
What would the odds be at world cup. Idol and world chamoionship .
Probably million to one. Now 1000 to 1.
And the Pumas are out of the running!
Mexico City v Dublin next week, both with HGA!
Wow, just wow for Dublin :o. Shame they may miss out on finals, they are peaking at right time of the season!
World Idol would go nicely with the Minor Premiership! C'mon Suns.
So yeah, I changed my allegiance. :P
#upthesuns
Well done to the Mexico City Suns!
And Dublin performed fantastically.
