Title: 2013 SuperCoach Player Profile: Luke Shuey
Post by: shorty3264 on December 05, 2012, 09:51:28 AM
Luke Shuey
Stats
2012 Games: 19

2012 Ave: 103.4

Centuries: 10

Highs: 141 vs Gold Coast, 141 vs GWS, 138 vs Fremantle

Lows: 40 vs Fremantle, 66 vs Richmond, 75 vs Collingwood

FanPlanner Price: $549,200

Position: Midfield

Thoughts
Shuey improved on his break out year in 2012 to average triple figures (103.4), he had an outstanding year playing the majority of the season and polling 11 Brownlow votes, while Daniel Kerr declared him West Coast’s best midfielder. Shuey averaged 23 disposals, dropping under the 20 mark just three times and also having just three scores below 80, adding consistency to his powerful game. After struggling with glandular fever and other niggles in his debut year, his past two seasons have been very successful. He is a tough young on-baller, who relishes the clearances and contested ball, he knows how to find plenty of the footy and can hit the scoreboard, kicking 49 goals from his 52 matches. Shuey has all the credentials of an elite Supercoach scorer, at 22 he is coming into his prime, already capable of scoring big (seven 120+ scores) if he can rule out the odd quiet match, which were rare even in 2012, he will fast become a genuine superstar.

Verdict
Coming into his fourth season, Shuey is ready to explode. He is already in a very strong midfield that will give him plenty of support, as I said earlier he ticks every box in terms of scoring potential and after just 52 games he is averaging 100+. Granted an injury free pre season Shuey could well step up to one of the most destructive midfielders in the league and produce elite numbers.

Prediction
113

nice one mate

i might consider him in my starting team but unlikely although West Coast should improve again this season should be factored in so that should help him if he doesn't start in my team good chance he will be there when it's complete

Now with 8 mid spots available im strongly considering Shuey as a POD player.
Think he is ready to take the next step

Shuey is one of those players you don't think of, but when somebody mentions him it is hard to say no...

Very much on the shortlist

He's also underpriced from his shoulder injury. Very much on the radar.

Going all or nothing with Shuey this year, very excited to see if he can be Danger2.0.

Eagles lurking in the top 4 makes breaking out much easier.

I had shuey and danger :/.  Hurray for having mundy though.  Will have to see his form next week.

I did have kennedy and mundy though so all was not lost.

It's ok most teams don't have taggers that are/were as effective as the ones danger and shuey copped this week.

If Hocking can return to his 2011 form he will become another one of those black mark players..Similar to Crowley/Picken.
People definitely need to settle down re: Danger.

agree

Crowley is probably best tagger in the game with Picken not far behind - but not too many others that can do the job as well as them

Most weeks Shuey and Danger will get "run with" players rather than a hard tag.

not handling a tag is a big deal for fantasy and real footy.

Clint Jones
Raines
SSelwood
Crowley
Picken
Hocking
VanBerlo can do a job
Carrazzo
shiels is turning into a handy run with player
the suns and gws are both developing taggers

melbourne, north, port, richmond, sydney I have to plead a little ignorance on as i am sure they have them but not sure how good they are (taggers that is)

I know the dees used magner for this a bit but not sure he had much of an impact at it.

McKenzie is Melbournes tagger
Jack still tags sometimes for the Swans
Bastinac does some run with roles and so does Greenwood but neither are effective
Kornes can tag sometimes but rarely does anymore

Carrazzo is the best tagger. Jones isn't any good at it anymore. Raines, Picken, Crowley are all pretty good and Hocking will be a gun at it since he is a massive bloke like Ling was. The bulldogs have Lower too and he shut down Cotchin so thats a dangerous combo him and Picken. Richmond and Collingwood rate the mids to be good enough to win without tags
