Jonathan Simpkin
Price: $196,500 (Fan planner)
2012 Games: 3
2012 Ave: 37
Position: Midfielder
Simpkin was delisted by the Cats at the end of the season, but was then thrown a lifeline by the Hawks, as he was signed as the first delisted free agent. Simpkin struggled for game time at the Cats only playing the 3 games and I would expect the same thing at the Hawks, as they do have one of the strongest lists in the competition.
Simpkin averaged 37 from the 3 games this year, but 2 where sub affected and in the game, which was not sub affected, Simpkin scored 67 against West Coast. This shows if Simpkin is given game time, he can be a solid scorer. But it's unlikely he will get much game time at the Hawks next season.
If you are looking at a rookie midfielder option, then I wouldn't be looking at Simpkin. He is only at the Hawks as insurance and I wouldn't expect more than 5 games from Simpkin next season and when he does get games he might be used as the sub. Simpkin isn't really cheap anyway as he will be priced around $200k, so your better of going for a cheaper rookie who is more likely to score higher and get more game time.
2013 Supercoach Point Average Prediction: 60-65
Agree with your contention there are just too many cheaper rookies who are willing to give you more bang for your buck.
Yeah, and he has no JS at all.
very accurate prediction
Reckon he will prosper in 2014?
