So this is basically how it needs to be played out for either team to progress to the semi finals...

QF1
The Brown Trumpets
• Must win the game by 10 or more points to be guaranteed progression
• A victory by a 9 point margin will be enough if they score 50 or less

KKS United

• A win or draw will guarantee progression
• A loss by 8 points or less will also be enough
• A loss by 9 points will be ok as long as they score 42 or more

QF2
Blue Mountain State
• Must win game by 5 or more points to guarantee progression
• A win by 4 points will be enough if they score 37 or less

YNWA Warriors
• A win or draw will guarantee progression
• A loss by 3 points or less will also be enough
• A loss by 4 points will be ok as long as they score 34 or more

QF3
Scaling Saints
• Must win game by 2 or more points to guarantee progression
• A win by 1 point will be enough if they score 33 or less

The Flippin' Pancakes
• A win or draw will guarantee progression
• A loss by 1 point will be ok as long as they score 33 or more

QF4
The Casserole Kids
• Must win game by 11 or more points to guarantee progression
• A win by 10 points will be enough if they score 49 or less

Goodfellas
• A win or draw will guarantee progression
• A loss by 9 points or less will also be enough
• A loss by 10 points will be ok as long as they score 40 or more

Evening lads,

A couple of quick questions seen as though I am now living out my boyhood dream coaching the underperforming,.... yet endlessly talented YNWA Warriors.

Question the first: Basically any player who is not in any ones team is a Free Agent and can be traded in?
Question the second: I can talk you all into a trade whereby I get better players and offload my worst onto you?
Questoon the third: Price is no problem?

Other than that I think I'm across everything, and stoked to be part of the league!

I like trading VSA and I'm the greatest. Talk to me mate ;) (although I've used both my trades this week)

The Flippin' Pancakes (elephants)

GK: Pepe Reina
DEF: David Luiz, Robert Huth, Kieran Gibbs
MID: Clint Dempsey(C), Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta, Steven Pienaar
FWD: Fernando Torres(VC), Demba Ba, Nikica Jelavic

Schwarzer, Riise, Ramirez, Terry

Captain Dempsey against gets the nod and slides on the arm band while spiritual leader Terry misses again. After a torrid week dominated by false diving accusations, racial slurs and colourful language but most of all appalling refereeing El Nino will be reminded he is a vital part of the current ladder leading Pancakes outfit.

As always, a few injury clouds for the Pancakes. Reina, Ba, Gibbs are all undergoing fitness tests, Terry is sitting out the last match of his suspension and Ramirez is facing another few weeks on the sidelines.

We will put in 100% though because we are the Pancakes.

MID: Michael Kightly, James Morrison (c), Wayne Routledge
FWD: Steven Naismith, Bobby Zamora
Bench: Ali Al-Habsi, Danny Welbeck, David Silva, Frank Lampard

If my trades are inelligible then just swap zamora with graham, and kightly with sessegnon. easy

Used my Wild Card this week for a two point gain in what my team would have got last week. 37 at the moment expecting bonus points for Cptn RVP and Fellaini at least. Hopefully 46 with Lambert to come. It's not looking to bad if I cast my eye around.

RVP captain = scores, probs MOTM
Evra scores
Felliani double and MOTM

Those three should be enough to carry me to a win or at least progression to the next round.

Here is a progress check of all the teams with just the one match left to play...

QF1
(85) The Brown Trumpets 44 vs 31 KKS United (81)
The Brown Trumpets have no players left to play and so will finish on 44 (aggregate score of 85). KKS United have just the one player left and that is Gareth McAuley. For KKS United to progress they need McAuley to score 5 points or more. A clean sheet for West Brom would do that, so going to be a very tight finish to this game!

QF2
(67) Blue Mountain State 34 vs 29 YNWA Warriors (66)
Could this game be any closer? Both teams with just 1 player left and BMS holding a 1 point lead at the moment. For BMS they have striker Ricky Lambert left to play, whilst for YNWA Warriors they have new recruit Zoltan Gera ready to play. There are a couple of ways this game can play out...
• If both players score the same then BMS will progress.
• If Gera scores one point more than Lambert, but scores 4 or less then BMS will progress
• If Gera scores one point more than Lambert, and scores 5 or more then YNWA progress
• If Gera scores 2 or more points more than Lambert then YNWA progress.

In for a very exciting finish here!

QF3
(49) Scaling Saints 16 vs 16 The Flippin' Pancakes (50)
Another extremely close game where the aggregate margin is just the 1 point. However big problems for The Flippin' Pancakes who are out of players, UNLESS Gaston Ramirez can make a return from injury and play tonight. Scaling Saints on the other hand have got goalkeeper Ben Foster and captain James Morison left to play so the ball is certainly in their court! Assuming Ramirez does start the game, Scaling Saints will needs Foster and Morison to score just 1 point more than Ramirez to progress (assuming their total score is still under 33). If he doesn't play then Scaling Saints need just one solitary point between the two players to win the tie. The Saints should be feeling pretty comfortable right about now!

QF4
(73) The Casserole Kids 33 vs 67 Goodfellas (117)
This game is over. Neither teams have players left, which means Goodfellas becomes the first team to move in to the semi finals of the Cup. Very convincing winners here!

Yeah but losing against 3 of the other teams, so you're pretty much right in the centre. I'd be more annoyed if I was the loser between DG and koop/spin since they would beat 5 of the other teams, but only lose to 2 of them...

The list management commitee at YNWA Warriors are in for a sleeples night!!

I will also point out CF that Lambert is in my league team, unfortunately I have a vested interest in him doing well....maybe Gera can withdraw from this game, Lambert can provide a couple of assists for Lallana to goal twice....I can't possible be that lucky!  ;D

Nervous wait for me to hope that Gera doesn't get given a bonus point. Currently Gera has 3 points and Lambert 2, which would put the two teams equal on points, but would put me through on the away points rule. Assuming Odemwingie will get the 3 points for his double, and hoping both Mlumbu and Long geta bonus point or 2 for their assists... :-\

Official Results of Leg 2

QF1
The Brown Trumpets 44 vs 37 KKS United
Best
The Brown Trumpets - Cazorla, Hart, Cahill
KKS United - Suarez, Nasri, McAuley
Subs
The Brown Trumpets - Adebayor subbed on for Mata
KKS United - Nani subbed on for Dembele

QF2
Blue Mountain State 36 vs 32 YNWA Warriors
Best
Blue Mountain State - Guzan
YNWA Warriors - Clichy, Snodgrass
Subs
Blue Mountain State - Nolan and Michu subbed on for Johnson and Bent
YNWA Warriors - None

QF3
Scaling Saints 26 vs 16 The Flippin' Pancakes
Best
Scaling Saints - Foster
The Flippin' Pancakes - NA
Subs
Scaling Saints - None
The Flippin' Pancakes - Schwarzer and Riise subbed on for Reina and Luiz

QF4
The Casserole Kids 34 vs 67 Goodfellas
Best
The Casserole Kids - Enrique
Goodfellas - van Persie, Fellaini, Evra, Cabaye, Kompany
Subs
The Casserole Kids - Sagna subbed on for Zabaleta
Goodfellas - Rangel subbed on for Kagawa

So how do these results affect who progresses to the semi finals?

QF1
The Brown Trumpets and KKS United both won a game each, so the team progressing to the semi finals is the team that scored most overall. Moving in to the semis with a score of 87 to 85 is KKS United!!!

QF2
Just as in QF1, both teams managed to win a leg each so it comes down to points scored. Amazingly this is also equal at 69 points each! So in this case the away points rule is brought in to effect. The team progressing to the semi finals with an away score of 33 to 32 (could not be closer) is Blue Mountain State!!!

QF3
Again the legs were split at 1 win apiece, so total score determines the winner. Moving through with a score of 59 to 50 is Scaling Saints!!!

QF4
The only team to win both legs and move through automatically without counting the scores is Goodfellas!!!

Congratulations to the 4 teams who have made it through to the semi finals. Whilst commiserations to those who fell short (especially VSA going down by the away points rule and still only losing by 1), sadly this is where your journey in the cup ends. Next week we are back with normal league fixtures, until the semis in 8 weeks time :)

Unfortunately LE you will just be having a bye during the semi finals. I don't see much point in a losers cup. But feel free to organise a friendly with one of the other teams who are out, but you will need to determine the scores yourself ;)

The 2 semi finals will be...
KKS United vs Blue Mountain State

and

Scaling Saints vs Goodfellas
