I think that's looking much better balanced Toga. :) Can't really knock any of those picks, aside from Howard who I think is an almighty spud. Who knows, maybe he will breakout but I feel like it's a serious gamble.

cheers for your input mate! :)

yeah not too sure about howard myself tbh... i'll probably either:
1. Turn him into Harbrow (but that's probably just as risky)
2. Turn him into a rookie and upgrade knighter to a fwd premo...

EDIT: C. Howard is now C. Pederson after he has been traded to Melbourne, massive value there.

I've been trying to squeeze Pedersen in too. Averaged 96.8 in the VFL last season and might have a better chance at translating that form at Melbourne.

I've replaced Pittard, Buddy and Mayes with Pedersen, Lewis and Stringer. Not sure if I'll stick with that though.

Aren't you worried that since Brisbane have picked up Moloney that it would hamper rockys midfield time? He has already spent a fair bit of time in the forwards, I think it may even get cut some more...

that's a good point actually, hadn't even thought about it!

but a 93.5 average is still very good for a fwd, if he can replicate that with the possibility of going bigger i'd accept that. will watch closely over NAB though, might turn him into someone else before rd 1

Good replacements.
What's your thinking with swapping Franklin to Lewis? Free up cash, or do you seriously think he will outscore Buddy?
Because I'm rather tempted to do the same thing...Lewis is a pretty handy unique I reckon.

It was the only way I could afford to get Pedersen in. I wasn't willing to downgrade anyone else because I'm really happy with the squad I have atm. To be honest, I doubt Lewis will keep his DPP so I'll probably have to revisit that eventually.

thanks mate - i might look at trading knights to robbie gray if he's back in time, or doing a downgrade/upgrade with pedo and knights... but i reckon they've both got decent JS - melbourne was so keen on recruiting him and with stef martin leaving i think that opens the door for him, and knights fills a gap in the tigers line-up so should get games early imo... but honestly, i think gray has more upside to, I'm just worried about that injury.

NicNat is my smokey next year 8) the new ruck rules are set to benefit him hugely, will be a dominator next year...

that said, if i can find the money to upgrade to ivan i would haha

I would agree. Look at it in terms of points.
I reckon the increase from Ball --> Swan isn't as large as the decease from Franklin - rookie...

i also agree that to have swan you have to have a much less rounded side, my side is also extremely similar

DEF: B. Goddard, J. Grimes, B. Gibbs, G. Birchall, N.Bock, C. Pedersen, B. Staker (J. Pittard, S. Docherty)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, T. Cotchin, S. Pendlebury, M. Murphy, L. Ball, B. Crouch (J. O'Meara, J. Viney)
RUC: T. Goldstein, M. Leuenberger (J. Witts, M. Daw)
FWD: L. Franklin, M. Robinson, D. Martin, D. Zaharakis, G.Broughton, M. LeCras, B. Macaffer (M. Morton, T. Lee)
CASH LEFT: $5,300

Very solid team Toga the only concern is the forward line all are capable players although you would be asking alot for all of them to fire, Broughton especially will be closely watched to see where McKenna wants to play him next year. Zaharakis and Martin are in the same boat Forward/Mid players whom are both being looked at to thrive next season. As for the Gold Coast boys If you are confident enough in their abilities go for it, I see Stanley as an accomplished player and a good unique pick for the forward line, although I am not sold on Bennell is there is still a large gap between his best and worst scores.

Yeah that's true - I also didn't even realise it, three GC fwds isn't the way to go. I am pretty confident Broughton will get a good role next year, just with the players GC already have, and with the recruitment of Tom Murphy this year I don't think he will be subject to lock down roles. I also have a quote somewhere from the GC management saying he'll be used off half back and through the mids, so he's locked for me (+fwd/back dpp i think he'll be very valuable).

Bennell I'm not sold on either - every chance he might lose his DPP as well... Will see how everything pans out but he might end up being swapped out for someone like Rocky or Robbo

Cheers for your input :)

I had him in defence and staker in attack but I swapped them because for the start of the season at least I'll need him up there. Will most likely swap him back into defence when i trade out staker though.

Depends on where you like him I guess and also on which low price attackers and defenders can score well.

Should be able to get a game was named emergency a few times, was hoping he could be a downgrade target but in the end its good to have another defensive rookie for 2013.

Made a few adjustments to the team after the draw was announced and the MN was adjusted. Main changes were to the midfield, where I've omitted Swanny and Wines for Redden and Macrae (because of Redden's favourable bye), with other changes including Birchall to Duffield, Bock out, and a few changes to the forward line.

Version 3 (Post-draw announcement and MN change):
Brendon Goddard, Jack Grimes, Bryce Gibbs, Paul Duffield, Greg Broughton, Cameron Pedersen, Jasper Pittard
(Sam Colquhoun, Jacob Ballard)

Gary Ablett jnr, Trent Cotchin, Scott Pendlebury, Jack Redden, Jackson Macrae, Brad Crouch
(Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney)

Todd Goldstein, Matthew Leuenberger
Majak Daw, Jarrod Witts)

Steve Johnson, Danny Stanley, Dustin Martin, David Zaharakis, Adam Treloar, Mark LeCras, Jake Stringer
(Brent Staker, Mitch Morton)

Salary cap left: $20,400.

I have a feeling the draw has increased Redden's stocks a fair bit hehe

The only change I could suggest is maybe bring Broughton down forward for Treloar (I'm not convinced he's good enough to be "premo"). This will be particularly handy if Pederson ends up getting B/F DPP.
Then bring in Hartlett into defence, Champion Data confirmed his DPP this morning  ;D

yeah i think it has too! alot of coaches will probably be tossing up between lids and redden now for M4

yeah not sure about him either, tempted to try and bring zaha or someone in for him. but that is another option, staker is already B/F DPP so that should create a link there, but i do kinda want hartlett in there now as well! such good news!

The most striking pick in this side is the addition of Treloar, as good as he is I wouldn't be confident on picking him in his second season, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

yeah i think it has too! alot of coaches will probably be tossing up between lids and redden now for M4

yeah not sure about him either, tempted to try and bring zaha or someone in for him. but that is another option, staker is already B/F DPP so that should create a link there, but i do kinda want hartlett in there now as well! such good news!

Ahh, touche  :P

The most striking pick in this side is the addition of Treloar, as good as he is I wouldn't be confident on picking him in his second season, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

yeah he's a bit of a smokey i guess. not sold him by any means either, but I think he could be a good POD for me. averaged 82 in his first season, 107 average in his last 5 games.

as i said, not sold yet but definitely considering him :)

...and he had an interrupted pre-season this year, imagine what he will do with a full pre-season :o
I dont have the balls to pick him, but he looks like a good POD.

Yeah forgot about that, foot injury as well so running would've been affected.

Really want to but I'll probably chicken out lol
