Hey All,
I started thinking, we have 4 fantasy footy drafts, 1 AFL draft and now a NBA draft....Why not a tennis draft? 2 drafts, A men's & women's draft. I am hoping to get 6 entries so we could have 15 rounds for men's draft and 15 rounds for women's draft. The draft's will be randomized by random.org. There will be 3 Eras. 1950 & U, 1951 - 1980 & 1981 - 2012. In each draft you will draft 15 players. Only rule is you need 5 from each era except era 1 which you only need 2 players from. you can use the extra 3 players from any of the 2nd or 3rd era.. It will all be one draft. Further details will be explained once coaches are confirmed. c4v3m4n, Sid and I are the current judges. judges will be confirmed when the coaches are. If you are involved in this and are a judge you can't vote for your team. that will be decided by the other judges. Please register your interest here. From when you are online you will have 3 hours to pick.In total you have 15 Hours to pick after the last pick was taken. In the mens draft you need 5 players from Eras 1 & 2 and atleast 2 from Era 1. If you want you can pick 5 players from Era 1 but you have to choose 5 from Era 1 & 2 also. If you do not follow these guidelines you will have to pick another player in the required era at the END of the draft.Players will be rated how they played in their PRIME. Variety and Balance in your team will be a main factor in how the judges rate the teams.

Hewitt Won 2 Grand Slam championships and was World No 1 for a number of weeks.
Ken Rosewall winner of 8 Grand Slam Championships but did not win a Wimbledon Championship. Runner up at Wimbledon on a number of occasions and was renowned for his fighting qualities.
Sticking with Era 3 this man won 68 career titles along with a gold medal with a win/loss percentage of 76%
Andre "The las Vegas kid" Agassi

I can tell what sorta structure your going for, I like it.
CHECK FRONT PAGE FOR NEW RULE IN BOLD.
Easy Pick here, Best player from Era 1.
Only played in 23 grandslams and won 10 of them which is amazing. Cant find the stats on this but i would be amazed if anyone has more than a 43% grandslam winning percentage.
Won the US 7 times including 6 years straight. Has 3 Wimbledon wins despite only playing there 6 times. Absolute Grass court specialist. Never played in the Aussie Open and you would assume he would have won if he played there.
If he had of played them all probably would have the most grandslams wins of anyone in history.
Not only that but has an amazing 93.6% wins in his career.
Quite simply if he turns up the title is basically his.

Bill Tinden
I'll take the great Ivan Lendl. :)
Take one from era 1 here...
Don Budge
First player to complete a grand slam.
Won 6 grand slam tournaments in succession
Considered to have one of the best backhands in the history of tennis
Question Torp.
If we select player x who has won say 5 Titles 1950 and earlier and a further 4 Titles after 1950 do we have the option to select the era. Similarly for Era 2 and Era 3 with players winning Titles in the 70's and 80"s.
And Spinking Budge was my selected 1st player from Era 1 nice pick.

It's when he won his 1st Grand Slam OR when he turned professional....OR when he first debuted.
Me and KK (well me really) pick John McEnroe (era 2) and Fred Perry (era 1)
Thanks Torp for the clarification and looks like Jukesy picked up one I was thinking of with the Brat winning his first Grand Slam in 1979 and his others in the 80's.
Thanks also for taking my next pick in Era 1 with Fred Perry.
Sorry Ringo :(
Sorry, didn't realise it w my go again!
Jim Courier
I will take Roy Emerson. He held the most Grand Slams until Sampras and Federer came along. I now have the 2 1960s giants, Laver & Emerson.
FARK You Torp my next selection as well. Good trivia question name the Australian Tennis Player who has won the most Slams. Most go for Laver but Emmo has won one more.
Will be away for next 3 days so will pm some picks in case I am not on.

Ringo, Don't mean to be a nerd but I knew that when I was 4. :P PM me your picks.
Again another easy pick for me. I have Borg who is a master on clay and grass. Tilden one of the greatest grass court players of all time. Im lacking on hard courts so I take my favourite male player of all time.
Still only 25 so has plenty of years to go up in the record books. 4 hard court grand slams and 1 Wimbledon So far. Playing in the era of Fed and Nadal. I would argue he is the best hard court player of the 3. Has an amazing backhand and I would say if not the best defence ever it would have to be close to it.
Watch out on Hard courts because he will beat almost anyone on his day.

Pancho Gonzales
fantastic pick was hoping he would fall under the radar. Already have an era 1 player but if i didnt he would have been my pick.
My next pick also qualifies for Era 1 as he won the Australian Open in 1949
Frank Sedgman and went on to win a further 5 grand slam titles
Next Pick is a strong one from era 3 winning 8 grand slam titles between 1974 and 1983 but never won a French title.
Jimmy Connors
Boris Becker

Far out great pick with Connors, I would have taken him but i thought he was gone. Saw Jim Courier quickly and from some reason I read it as Jimmy Connors, because I thought Connors would have easily gone before him.
Im going to pick the only guy to ever win an Aussie Open on grass and on Harcourt. It shows how versatile he was with 7 grand slam wins with 2 on grass, 2 on hard courts, 3 on clay.
Mats Willander
I'll take a 4 time French Champ,2 time Wimbledon champ & 1 time US Open champ.......A gun from era 1 & one of the 4 french musketeers.....Henri Cochet

Stan Smith
Nearly half way through mens draft! Keep it going guys. :)
Select from Era 1 Anthony Wilding won Wimbledon 4 consecutive years from 1910 -1913 and 2 Australian Opens
and From Era 2 Tony Trabert Winner of 5 grand slam titles but did not win an Australian Title.
One of the greatest players in era 1 Lew Hoad
Need another hard Court champion and im going with a guy who is still playing and is just hitting peak. Winning a gold medal, winning the latest grandslam and runner up in the one before.
Playing in an era with 2 of the greatest of all time and also novak and is competing with them.
Murray has a winning record against fed 9-8 (8-7 hardcourt) and is 1 game down against Novak with 7-8 (6-6 Harcourt)
hanst been able to compete with Nadal on clay or grass going down 0-7 but on Harcourt its another story with it 5-6 in nadals favour.
So against the big 3 on hardcourt its 19-19 not bad against some of the greatest of all time and he is only just hitting his stride.
Andy Murray
Lists are updated, Keep aware of the rules about only 5 players from Era 2 & 3 until you get 2 players from era 1. Once that happens you can get 3 more from Era 2 or 3. I will pick soon.
In the end an easy decision.
Pancho Gonzalez from Era 1.
