Title: Rate the Hens
Post by: Hippo on January 28, 2009, 02:47:45 AM
Let me know what you guys think of this team

Hodge, C Cornes, Bock, Adcock, Malceski, Taylor, Petterd (Hurley, Davenport)

Abblet, Thompson, Judd, Kerr, Coughlan, Rich (Strauss, Swift)

Cox, McIntosh (Vickery, Currie)

Pavlich, Richo, Deledio, Lucas, Higgins, Yarran, Hentschel (Gumby, Walker)

My only thought is if i go with Richo or not, will wait and see what role he will play this yr

Is Hodge listed in the backs?
I hope Cogs comes off for you cos Swift and Strauss could take some time to get going. Guys like Dayne Beams or Mitch Robinson could play early.
Maybe look at Boomer as an option instead of Richo.
Has been made Capt. and is at the peak of his powers.
Hurley and Vickery could be tying up too much cash on your bench.
Back benchers are lean this year, follow Suban, Rance, Gallman, Kite and Petrenko in the NAB cup.
There is a plethora of cheap forwards to keep an eye on too.
Looks pretty good otherwise.
Good luck.

Walker will be sitting on your bench most of the year I suspect...

I think richo for Harvey is a great idea. Richo is getting on, even though it didnt show last yr, and Harvey is a gun midfielder available in the forward line.
Personally i dont like Bock, Adcock and Malceski in the same backline. Bock might be used down forward alot more this year which will influence his scoring negativly imo. Malceski is still coming back from an injury and whilst he looks to be good value, is too much of a risk i think. And Adcock really dropped off last yr compared to the yr before, so we can't be sure he will return to that great form now that he is respected more. He wouldnt be the first Lions player to have a great yr and then drop off, never to produce numbers like that again....Sherman anybody?

Definetly Save money buy dropping Vickery and possibly Hurley aswell. I dont beleive Vickery will get much of a go this year, as Richmond already have a solid Ruck. Whilst it isn't great it's servicable, much like Hawthorns ruck. If Simmonds or Patterson i think it is, get injured then maybe Vickery is an option.

I personally like the idea of starting a new player on the field rather than an injured old one, such as hentschel. Maybe someone such as Ballantyne or Sidebottom. Of course now that i've said that those 2 are likely to turn out duds and Hentschel will become the Bradshaw of 09!

Just my thoughts.
