Title: Mumford
Post by: Blues Blues Blues on July 30, 2012, 10:13:29 PM
AFL website says Swans are hopeful he will return this week, but also mentions that Reid is out and Mummy will give them extra height. Reading between the lines, does this mean they may play him forward? Scores may suffer?

Could mean him and Pyke will play between ruck and full forward. Doesn't bother me too much though, Mummy is actually a great kick for goal and would love to see him bump his score up with a few goals!

after the way Pyke performed on the weekend this is exactly what will happen. If mummy doesnt play i think Spanger will come in

Hopefully he can play well and score like coxy who plays that sort of role every week

Played mostly forward when he last came back from injury so I'd expect much the same this time around with Pyke playing well. Wouldn't expect a good score from him though, unless he can kcik a few.

Playing the Suns, so could kick a few.
Also:
Playing the Suns, so could get vested.

I dont think they will rush him back, with Pyke going so well.  I reckon another week.

They'll play him if he's fit. He was just getting back to full fitness and finding some form before the knee, not much point keeping him out when they need him firing for finals.

Oops, you're right, I just did the player search and checked out his next game. Of course he missed the Suns last weekend. Such a Muppet.

Cheers

I wanted to get Mumford in the whole time he was injured. But Pyke has thrown that idea out the window. (getting injured again didn't help either). I can't justify the risk of getting him in now. Only 5 games to go and he may take a week or two of those to start firing. Not worth it.

I have had him ALL year. His big sizeable arse has left an imprint on my bench. With the season nearly over, and him apparently destined to play fwd (if he plays), do I trade him out now? Issue is he is only worth $397k

Who said he is playing FF? I cannot see that happening personally. He may rest down there, but it will be mostly Goodes with Reid out.

Have you seen Mumford kicking for goal this year?

They will again try and nurse him back up to Ruck 1 duties for the finals imo

When he injured his knee he was smashing Mcevoy and was 63 sc points at half time.

I was all over him the next week if he didn't get injured. Will be watching him very closely this week.
