Title: Re: Youth Championship
Post by: Cookie311993 on July 14, 2012, 09:01:18 AM
This will most likely be taking place next season, right? If so someone can have my spot. My ratings will be terrible next season as I lose a few 19 year olds
Title: Re: Youth Championship
Post by: JBs-Hawks on July 14, 2012, 02:38:09 PM
Is 12 possible? If it is we can play with that
Title: Re: Youth Championship
Post by: CrowsFan on July 14, 2012, 03:00:43 PM
10 is the maximum JB. You can make leagues of 4, 6, 8 or 10 ;)

Can we get this started as quickly as possible by the way since it looks like it will be going over 2 seasons. I would like most of the matches played this season... :)
Title: Re: Youth Championship
Post by: chrisuzz on July 14, 2012, 06:30:52 PM
Don't listen to CF he only wants that so he can win :P

It would actually be interesting if it could get setup for half this season half next season...

Likewise, I only have Seinfeld and Cavendish left, and am rating about 92-93k for U18 ATM.

The annoying thing for me is that I play CF before EOS :(

Fixed up the one spot I needed to for next season. A keeper to replace Meyer. I don't really need him to bat. I just need a competent gloveman

Beat Torp by 70 runs today. Batted first on a hard pitch and my two best batsmen both failed opening the innings, Sloane out for a first ball duck and Wilkinson out for 20. Farrell then fell for 35, leaving us at 3 for 75 and struggling. Gul and Bobcat steadied the ship before Bobcat fell for 99 in the second last over. Gul remained not out on 136 (to go with his 141 not out last week), and the innings finished at 4 for 299. In reply managed to restrict Torp to 8 for 229.

I also forgot to set orders (not used to playing more than 3 matches a week)

Very close game with Redlegs winning with the last ball of the match.

Result:   Norwood Redlegs won by 2 wickets
Toss:   Valkorum won the toss and elected to bat.
Man of the match:   Ndabiningi Meman (3 points), Carl Mudie (2), Tilan Keerthiratne (1)

Norwood Redlegs    Valkorum
Batting - Top Order:    5,400    5,772

Fielding/Keeping:    5,724    6,556
Overall:    91,287    96,925

End of over 39 (3 runs) - Norwood Redlegs(218-8). 6 runs required from 1 overs. RR 5.59 RRR 6.00
F. Lugton 0 (1b), A. Gardebroek 4 (5b) , G. Nidheesh 8-0-42-2

39.1   2   Keerthiratne to Gardebroek : Gently pushed towards cover, away from Sarwan for 2.
39.2   1   Keerthiratne to Gardebroek : Worked to fine leg for a single.
39.3   1   Keerthiratne to Lugton : Lugton shows great grace and timing hitting it to the covers for 1. Beautiful to watch but only one to the score.
39.4   .   Keerthiratne to Gardebroek : [great fielding] Cut fiercely, but an excellent stop by Mudie at point saves four.
39.5   1   Keerthiratne to Gardebroek : Gardebroek plays at the ball hard but only succeeds in hitting it to Lambert in the deep for a single. He'll be disappointed with that, as he's looking for boundaries.
39.6   1   Keerthiratne to Lugton : Slightly short there from Keerthiratne, and Lugton cuts to deep point for a single.

End of over 40 (6 runs) - Norwood Redlegs(224-8) RR 5.60
A. Gardebroek 8 (9b), F. Lugton 2 (3b) , T. Keerthiratne 8-0-33-2

Norwood Redlegs won by 2 wickets

B. Bethell 60 (62b) , A. Kumari 2 (8b) , B. Sawle 3-0-7-1

Could go either way at the moment. Both our star NAT players failed with the bat, firstly Wilkinson got out for 3 from 5 balls, then for fletch Seinfeld fell for 6 from 4

Could have been even closer if my team didn't drop Maurice on 2 (made 11), Lambert on 13 (made 20), Hill on 40 (made 75) and Mudie on 10 (made 32 not out). That was an extra 73 runs given to your team!

Whereas all your team did was drop Cramer on 7, and he went on to make 8!

Oh well, I never expected to win. I look forward to playing you once you lose all your 18 and 19 year olds though :P

I only have 1 x 19yo and that is Alpin Hill but the core squad of 7 x 18yo (all at least cap/cap and 2 x reli/reli) definitely helps :)

My youth squad has jumped up to 10th overall ranking in Scotland.  I only have 3 x quality 17yo and 2 x quality 16yo at the moment but I am trying to limit my squad to 4 or 5 of each age group.

It had already hit this time last season as most of my players were either listless or clinically dead.  So far the average is about passable.  I have 3 on satistfactory and they are being rested for todays game and 3 guys on revived are coming in

Sorry JB :P
But they are some pretty talented 16 year olds. Adriaans is avg/reas batter with ord power + skilled power, which is why he could score so quickly, as for Cramer he is just avg/avg in the bowling side of it, but the pitch did suit him ;)

Chose to bowl first on a flat pitch and didn't do all that well with zz scoring 5 for 290 from his 40 overs. In reply chased that down with 1 over to go, losing just the three wickets in the process. Stephen Horn top scored with 124 not out from 104 balls and was rightly awarded MOTM :)

Looks like this is going to come down to the wire next week with 3 teams on 7-1 (me, fletch and BP).  I am leading the way with a better NRR ahead of Fletch then BP

I think you're safe Valk, unless my 16-17yo's cause a major upset...

Maurice has a habbit of doing that - gets to a milestone and then gets out.  Need to work on his concentration over the off-season.

235 on an uneven is a reasonable score.  Hemming bowled well for 4 out of the 5 wickets, even though he was expensive

Very nice rankings for 16 & 17yo's.  Looknig forward to 120k ratings at the beginning of next season - that should boost me up the Scotland youth charts early on :)

Playing cookie and trying to steal second place of Fletch I knew what I needed to do, play full strength, bat first despite the slow pitch and rack up a giant total. 4/317 equals Mission Accomplished, closer than I would've liked though
