Title: To trade Horsely?
Post by: LaHug on June 05, 2012, 05:03:10 PM
I know everyone's saying don't trade in round 11 because saving a donut now will just give you one in the next few rounds... but what if you want to trade someone who's playing this week to someone else playing?
Horsely has a large mountain for a tired rookie to climb just to reach his B/E this week and, after earning so much cash so quickly, you'd hate to see him lose it all again.
Is it worth upgrading or downgrading him to someone?
Does the same apply for other topped out rookies like Morris?
Your thoughts, people, I welcome them!

I've rage traded and got back in GAJ for him.  :P

He WAS going to be going after RD 12 for Swan....
With a large BE this week that he will 1) not hit and drop in price or 2) hit and stay the same price
so by the time RD 13 comes around he will either be the same price or have dropped
I'm getting rid of him now

Scrap that. Kreuzer out means I'm keeping him.  :(

its a tough one huggy :-\ keep reverting back to trading pendles and horsley & bringing in ablett and swan which seems like 2 great trades if pendles is out for 4 and horsley is going to have a tough time reaching his b/e as you said, but it wasnt in my plans and keeping horsley to rd13 and then bringing in swan seems so much smarter.... but i dont think i could afford it then if horsley lose's any money ahhhhh 1st time im stumped on what to do :'(

My personal problem is that I can't afford to go Horsely to Swan in one (or even two) trades.
I have 5 premium mids already (Stanton, Ablett, Mitchell, Selwood, Rockliff) so I'd want to get Swan or Boyd as my last spot.
That means, unless I use three trades this week, I'd have to downgrade Horsely.
Is there anyone to whom downgrading would be a viable option?

Great job! I should probably get back to studying, considering I have an exam tomorrow... but I had one today and my brain is tired!

Sorry guys, I've just posted a new topic when it's already (sort of) covered in here.

I'm looking at Magner to player X and then Horsely to Gary before he rises in price again!

Any ideas on player X and who he should be?

If he doesn't play this week-end and/or the next he won't drop in price but Thommo will drop hugely after rd12 and will pick him up in rd13 for the horse, that's my plan .....this all depends whether horse plays or not

if only i didnt have thomo, pendles, mitchell already i might follow suit but all the guys i want to bring in are set to rise not drop in price like the spuds i already have >:(

I have a feeling he may get dropped :(

So trade if so.

trade regardless this round or after round 11 or 12 guessing you'll have 2 round 13 premium mids by then or one plus sexton so horse out makes sense, for me it's after round 11 for Boyd unless dropped then i'll have to rethink...

May as well just go all out and list the full team... Will bold rookies to make it easier.

Def: Lids, Scotland, Goddard, Shaw, Broughton, Morris, Ellis, Townsend, Spurr

Mid: Stanton, Ablett, Mitchell, Selwood, Rockliff, Horsely, Smith, McDonald

Ruc: Maric, Giles, Stephenson, Redden

For: Sidebottom, Buddy, Chappy, Danger, Martin, ROK, Hall, Smith, Zorko

Cash: $78,300

Also need to do something with Scotland...... :/

Not many great downgrade options out there but I'm gonna go Horsley->Marley Williams

I'm trading him to the underpriced Mitchell this week. As for morris he will become birchall this week rather than waiting until round 13 to avoid a donut as there aren't any round 12 premos i can trust that i don't have (eg. Shaw, broughts or johnson)

Sorry mate i think you need to keep Horse for now. Just makes your bye structure look so much better with him in there.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking... Problem is, I have to trade Scotland (or do I?!) so, if I downgrade Scotland, I'll be able to go Horse --> Swan. Are there any back downgrade options?

Should I go Taylor Adams-> Elliot/Walsh and upgrade Jmac-> Kennedy/Mitchell?

Scotland to Heppell this week? you just move the donut from RD13 to RD 12
You'll cop 2 donuts this RD (if everyone plays)

After RD 11
1) downgrade someone like Morris to S.Shaw for 140k-ish profit
2) Ellis should be over 200k after RD11 so you could look at Ellis to Darley for 60k-ish profit (i know its fuk all but it gets rid of a donut in RD13)
3)A.Hall should be 240k-ish after the week. You could trade him to Haynes if named for 90-100k-ish profit
Total in bank could then be roughly 370-380k.
You'll cop 3 donuts this RD (if everyone plays)

After RD 12
Swan is now at 590k with a BE of 148. Anything under 130 he'll drop 10k-ish+.
1) Horse to Swan  ;D  = -280k-ish
0 donuts this RD (again if everyone plays)
and 100k in the bank

Allllllot of IFS there but its the best way to get Swan and minimizing donuts i could think of.
Orrrr you could just go Scotland to Sam Shaw this RD and hope he plays after the byes
Orrrrrrr instead of getting rid of Ellis next week you can get rid of Spurr for next to no profit. Then get rid of Ellis after RD 12. You'd still be able to afford Swan but get rid of another donut from RD12.

everyone ISN'T playing tho are they.... got to ditch this SPUD now, yes i just get the donut in either round 12 or 13 instead, but I also get the bloke i trade in nows score this week instead of horsleys score in round 12. So not much reason to hold him given he isn't playing

I'm ditching him for Ablett. Doesn't affect bye structure, avoids a doughnut, increases scoring immeasurably. I don't really need Horsely once I do Magner -> Boyd next week...

downgrading him to sexton gives me (DPP) link as well :)
Title: What to do with the Trojan Horse?
Post by: ENYGMA on June 08, 2012, 03:14:39 PM
He was like a gift from the Gold Coast Gods bearing tons at rookie prices but once you let him in, he released his stinky soldiers of 50s and 30s.

He is out rd 11 (this week) and rd 13 but I came prepared with 220k in the bank.

I am thinking either Thompson or Watson. I only want the best so no suggestions of smokies or Sam Mitchell!

Thommo has a huge BE from the Crowley tag last week and has Clint Jones to look out for this week too so he will lose even more across the next few rounds.

Jobe is super consistent and priced fairly at 520 with a reasonable 130ish BE.

I already have Swan, GAJ, Boyd, Jelwood and all the good MPP forwards (chappy, robbo, beams, sidey etc)

Should I trade and if so when?

I upgraded him to Stevie J even before I heard he was out giving me two C/F dpp links in the midfield :D

I got lucky last week too. Went Coniglio to Chappy - was feeling pretty bad after his 115 but now I know he is having surgery I don't feel so bad. DT sure is crazy  ::)
