So my team is (with $26,700):
Def: goddard, h.shaw, birchall, grimes, lake, m.clarke, mohr <ellis sierakowski>
Mid: ablett, murphy, priddis, jelwood, horsley, shiel <treloar brown>
Ruc: sandi, leuenberger <giles stephenson>
Fwd: franklin, rioli, zaharakis, brown, porplyzia, zorko, smedts <pfieffer walsh>

Ive tried to make my team capable of coping with the byes and fairly balanced...and obviously the rookies will change based on NAB

Am i talking to myself here??? Anyone have any suggestions? I think my forward line is a prem. short...

Mids are pretty strong - but could you better use the cash to beef up your forward line? Better rookies available in the midfield, who are capable of higher scores.

yeah totally agree with you! :) have no idea what prem. mid to leave out though (priddis is a lock as a unique-ish premium) and zaha could average 105+ this year making him a premium and i wouldnt be losing much by having say steveJ instead?
Title: Re: Jayman's 2012 supercoach diary
Post by: MC on February 17, 2012, 11:33:35 PM
It's not the difference between the premiums that is the issue - It's the difference between the rookies. Mid rookies can look to get 80+ whereas fwd rookies might get 60ish.

I'd suggest Murphy/Selwood down to Barlow (for example) gives you 220k (inc cash) to upgrade Porp to a 450k fwd such as Sidebottom/Dangerfield etc.

Murphy-->barlow...porps-->danger???
Title: Re: Jayman's 2012 supercoach diary

Which structure are you comfortable with 4 prems/ 2 rooks or 3 mids 3 prems
If 4 prem would downgrade one to Barlow as has been said but If 3/3 look at Downgrading to Caddy or Stevens who look ready made to increase in value rapidly.
Not convinced that Zaha can rise to F3 but personal.
Not commenting on rooks as will change as a result of NAB cup.
Just a couple of suggestions and 8.5/10 for this team

Def: a lot of depth love birchall and think every def needs a hawk in it with thier high possession style.

Mid: solid faultless

Ruck: solid faultless

Fwd: nice pick is rioli hammys are risky but he claims to have fixed his running, a fair bit of depth with porps but like my fwd line zaka, brown and porps bit of risk but strong enough/

solid well structured side, cannot fault it except to say be very watchful of grimes, lake, rioli, zaka, porps, all have had significant injury concerns or past seasons(zaka not so much but he does claim to suffer a LOT of pain in the legs after games) im on him anyway. :)

also horsley and pfieffer need to be promoted off rookie lists i love both, and zorko is injured watch him closely to see if he will be good for round 1.

well i initially had the 3-1-2 structure in mids but heard barlow wasnt exactly training the house down! So at the cost of my other lines (mainly forwards, as you can see by zaha as f3) i went with the 4-0-2 structure...i could go 3-0-3 structure then upgrade forwards!?

Thanks :) yeah i like birchall and rioli is a calculated risk, a lock for me! Yeah there are a few blokes with injury concerns in my side...will be monitoring them very closely! Yeah horsley and pfieffer should be promoted I think. Zorko wont be in my team if he doesnt line up round 1 :)

Likes: Birchall pick very solid if not spectacular player, grimes a risk worth taking but I wouldnt take both Grimes and Lake pick one and downgrade them to a rookie.
Mids: Great premiums with Priddis as a unique (prob not so much this year but still)
Rucks if Sandis turf toe stands up great.
For: WOuldnt have both Franklin and Rioli pick one same as with Porps and Brown (although im struggling with the same decision)
With the money from downgrading Lake maybe upgrade Porps or Brown or Zak.
GOod luck!

Agree 2 Hawk forwards could be risky, especially with Martin sharing their bye.

Surely one of the 2 mighty Hawkers could be an upgrade target later.

Freo light huh? Don't rate them?

Also Pendlebury HAS to drop a bit doesn't he?

Maybe pick up one of Broughton / Fyfe / Pav / Barlow - could all be super reliable and help you share the love come bye time.

You've got my rucks!

ok cyril can go i guess!

Broughton-too inconsistent and too many ? ? ? Around his position.
Fyfe- maybe in for cyril
pav- too old
Barlow- leg a worry!

And i still think pendles will average 130 and is fairly unique :D

rucks: faultless

forwards: sidebottom is really due for a breakout year i think thats well documented. skinner im really not sold on dont think he capable of high scores

all round top team 8.5/10

Just brought in couch and weedon IN FOR skinner and walsh...wont post my whole team again as was only a couple of rookie changes :)

Im having trouble with getting my bye structure right...im not sure whether i should not worry so much about my bye structure, which is perfect at the moment BUT ive had to compromise my ideal team to do so...e.g i dont want beau wilkes but there isnt any other options with the same bye!

My bye structure at the moment is:
Backs: 2/3/4 or 2/4/3
Mids: 2/3/3
Rucks: 2/1/1
Fwds: 2/3/4 or 2/4/3

Im thinking about just going with my ideal team and worrying about the byes as they come, not sure if that would be too smart tho

NEED HELP :)

As you know from posts byes doing head in.

I am having to have that structure by round 10 as it is the structure that will allow you only 2 donuts.  The big problem is getting from where i am now to that structure with trades.  It will be rookies taht I trade as I have set my prems up with no more than 2 prems from each bye round.
Title: Re: Jayman's 2012 supercoach diary
Post by: Jay on February 26, 2012, 09:11:34 PM
So you set your premiums up...and choose the best cash cows available and then trade them off for someone that fits your structure?! I think id be more comfortable with starting with the right structure then trading just to gain money and points really

Not quite just to illustrate (Rookies subject to change) You can see the structure I have set up basically playing 2 rooks on each line.  My mid priced prems may be keepers or upgrades (Conca, Hayes, Dangerfield, Smith, Brown)

Current Team
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, R. Murphy, R.Conca, S. Darleyr, S. Morris (B. Smedts, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Boyd, J. Selwood, L.Hayes, S. Clifton, D. Shiel (L. Brown, D. Zorko)
RUC: Z. Smith, M. Leuenberger (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: M. Pavlich, L. Franklin, A. Goodes, P. Dangerfield, J. Brown, ] A. Treloar, H. Crozier (S. Rowe, T. Couch)

You will see that players in bold are in my Finals Team - Trades will be made to get other players into Team eg Clifton may be upgraded to Pendles in a double trade,

This is the Team I am planning to have for finals at this point in time. Got a few extra players for contingincies.
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, R. Murphy, Scotland, Heppell, Birchall/Suckling/Broughton
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Boyd, J. Selwood, Pendleberry, M Murphy, Rockliffe/Hayes/Priddis
RUC: Berger - To be decided after byes.
FWD: M. Pavlich, L. Franklin, A. Goodes, Fyfe, Martin, Dangerfield/Brown/Johnson/Chapman/Rioli

Pretty similar to my team in a way!

What is ur bye structure at the moment?
Title: Re: Jayman's 2012 supercoach diary
Post by: Ringo on February 27, 2012, 03:45:06 PM
Current Team structure now is: 2/2/5 - 5/1/2 - 2/1/1 - 3/4/2 = 12/8/10

Not that far from 2/3/4; 2/3/3; 2/1/1; 2/4/3 to get 8/11/11 by round 10.  Obviusly 3 of my mid rookies will be downgraded upgraded to help reach this and at the same time keeping final team in mind eg Clifton > Pendles,  If cash required some may just be downgraded to playing rooks in byes rounds. Will be working out a detailed trading structure around round 5 as  see which rookies are rising quickly and which prem if any is falling. Will be a fluid document obviously based on performances.

Ok...so you arent starting with the 'perfect' structure. Do you suggest that i do the same or go with what ive got now and be all set for byes

and the team itself, you like?

Backs Have a mixture of premiums, Mid pricers & Rookies which can be good for your team. You the unique picks of  Murphy & Conca.  I wouldn't Wilkes in my team though.
Mids: Fairly Strong Midfield although have dropped off Zorko since his injury. I hope for you Lenny Hayes can get back to what he was before he got injured.
Rucks Zac Smith is another player i haven't seen in many teams. He should improve this year.
Fwds I think rowe will struggle to get into the Carlton team you maybe better off with Hall of the GC.

Overall Ringo as an expert in Supercoach you have  selected a strong side but only has 10 premiums at the moment

I give your team a 8/10

How much cash do you have left.

You have a few nice uniques who may pay off for you.

Def: Slight risk with both Adcock and Grimes. If Adcock forced to a lock down role by Brisbane then his scores will suffer similar to last year but if he reverts to running of HB then Gold.
Mids: Thomas - Interesting but will he outscore Pendles or Swan or other prems. (Caddy may be gold if he fires.
Rucks: A1
Forwards: Sound

Rookies not commenting on and in my case waiting for whole of NAB cup.  Not sold on getting excited on 2 20 minute halves of football.  These next 2 weeks will be a better indication. This is also reason why my rookies have not changed a lot since posting.

Overall 8/10 for your team

Mids are pretty strong - but could you better use the cash to beef up your forward line? Better rookies available in the midfield, who are capable of higher scores.

Im with MC on this one.

Sure up your forward line.

??? Rioli, Zaha, Brown. IMO they are risks. Could pay off however dont score high often enough.

BACKS: solid side there but i don't know about grimes either upgrade or dongrade him to a lake, hargrave, etc. i think they will be better options
MIDS: looks super strong and i like the 3prem 3rook structure.. caddy is a jet!
RUCKS: cant fault, bloody perfect
FORWARDS: i have a few opinions here, mainly on brown and martin. martin will be a great player and a possible keeper this year but starting off at f3 and with his draw i think you need a gun in front of him.. i also have no faith in j.brown getting back to his 100+ games regularly and think that he isnt worth getting in, even at his price

8.638/10

thanks! Some good ideas

Grimes-->hargrave would be an interesting one, certainly free up $$$ and not losing much scoring potential!
imo martin is a gun and at that price and the bye he has, really works well in my team.
Brown is an interesting one...i agree with you that he cant get back to 100+ but at that price there is no one in the forward line with better value :)

Yeah, very solid. I like the Caddy choice, I reckon he'll explode once he's back from the US - should easily top 80+ ppg. Will be a quick upgrade in rd 8 or so I reckon, maybe earlier.
Your team is very similar to mine - this is what happens in Rate my SC! Haha

I like it. Personal opinions on a few players but that doesn't matter, not here to be bias.
Overally sound structure. I think the Grimes pick is fine, more worried about the Adcock pick :P
8.5/10

For all the J Brown doubters, google Jonathan Brown 2012. He looks the best shape in his life, and consider that he missed 2011 with a broken face (or two), which isn't particularly a recurring injury in the same sense as a hamstring or ACL is, then I think 2012 will be a fantastic year for Browny. He's priced to average between 70 and 75, and the fact that the Lions play Melbourne, Fremantle, Gold Coast, GWS and North Melbourne all before their Round 11 bye, I think he could get at least an 85+ average, making the investment pretty worthwhile if you ask me.

Gday Jayman!

Backs - Good, im not a fan of Hargrave tho
Midfield - Risky with Caddy, Horsley and Hampton all on the field but could pay off, Id have Dylan Shiel instead of Brown on the bench as well
Rucks - Safe for 200+ 20 at least 20 weeks of the year
Forwards - Solid, not sure on the amount of games the Skinner will get tho

Overall, not a bad side, 8/10

hope i got the right side, thanks again for your feedback on mine.

DEF: Solid - great picks, i like three bulldogs midpriced backs hard to split them (lake/hargrave/howard)
MID: solid again - caddy is a super high altitude cow ! :)
RUCK: rock solid
FWD: solid - same as backs great picks - martin has a tough draw early on but he wont care total gun.

8.5/10 maybe 9 if caddy come through nroo returns to form and hargrave continues nab cup form will be a super team.

mcevoy l.berger <giles o.steph>

so im gonna explain my team and the choices ive made!!!

Backs: pretty stock standard, as you can see i havent got lids due to his tough draw and hammy problems. Hargrave has come in for grimes...i think hargrave will be a good pick this year and far less risky compared to lake

Mids: 3-3 structure IS the way to go...as you can see ive got 3 TOP mids accompanied by imo good rookies...not sure on horsley as he hasnt played nab at all but when he does, he will gun it and obviously magner has to be elevated and caddy is a jet :) as you can see i have links to the defence and forwards (in hampton and brown).

Rucks: no surprises there :) pretty good imo

Fwds: i like my premium choices in buddy goodes and martin...out of those martin is the least capable of averaging 105+ but i still think he's worth it at his price and dpp! Sidebum and nroo are risks but both will pay off i think...im not sure on skinner and h.smith but all rookies are available to dropping!!! Nab will tell

My bye structure is:

2-3-4 in backs
2-3-3 in mids
2-1-1 in rucks
2-4-3 in fwds

This strategy is the best for coping with the byes...and limiting donuts, mpp will help also

I only have $300 which is a bit sad but every cent has been spent well haha. So who likes my team?

Just personal but with a bit of tinkering can come at second team.  Like the second team forward line with Weedon there.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the Hogan bandwagon after last night.  Would like to see how he goes in the next 2 weeks myself. Was on Ablett and looked ok but Ablett is Ablett.  If he gets these lock down roles may not be value at $163k.
If comfortable with Ruck Strategy ok.

Just bear in mind Cameron suffered a corked thigh today so watch.  Also keep an eye on Devon Smith as an alternate to Pfeiffer if he does not get elevated.
Like that you have Martin at F4 as you can cope with his early tough draw.  Just hope Cyrils hammies do not twang before byes. You will be coping the donut in Round 13 with Franklin, Cyril and Martin.
Also if Caddy does not come up look at Kane Lucas who has similar potential at same price.

8.5/10 for the Team - Virtually set apart from finalising rookies.

yeah ill watch cameron, looked good tho! I liked smith as well! If i bring dev in for pfeiffer then ill have to restructure the forwards but definitely an option. Im confident in cyril :) yes ill have to find out a way to not have 2+ premiums out per position in bye rounds...caddy is a gun mate, i think ill be holding onto him, presuming he is named rnd 1

Backs - great line, love hargrave at d5 and the others speak for themselves
Mids - great again although hogan looks like tagging so be careful of that.. will rise in cash regardless i suppose
Rucks- solid, have a good feeling about hmac ;)
fwds - solid again, hopefully danger will rise to the occasion THIS year

cant really say any improvements.. just keep watching nab. few players im iffy on like martin in first few rounds, hargrave, and i reckon you could save money downgrading caddy and hogan considering they are only going to be cash cows anyway

now for urs:

defence: perfect. but downgrade clarke. shaw is enough pie coverage.
mids: i reckon ur one gun short. perhaps downgrade hogan and upgrade caddy as u already have selwood and ablett.
rucks: good. but i'd probably go for mumford (nice fixtures) and mcintosh can be downgraded to redden
fwds: fine. perhaps get dangerfield instead of martin for early fixtures / cash. check rookies.

Ah I did have Sidebottom in above danger but I took him out.. Like to know your thoughts on this!
Great backs although I hate broughton and his yoyo scores.. Watch Clarke didn't play great on the weekend
Confused by the caddy pick.. Possible premium or just cash cow? I would look at ditching him for a rookie and upgrading mcevoy!
Perfect forwards. I swear everyone's forward line is going to look like this before round 1 lol
9/10 I would just look at upgrading mcevoy. I'm a saints man and love the guy but there are a lot of better blokes out there IMO
Great side nonetheless

*TENTATIVE, NEW, EXPERIMENTAL TEAM*

Goddard shaw BIRCHALL/ENRIGHT/HEPPEL  broughton hargrave SPURR/WEBBERLEY/ELLIS  darley <smedts morris>

Ablett murphy selwood caddy hogan magner <d.smith brown>

In that way we differ. Perhaps it's my bias but I'm a Saints man and can see this Egyptian freak-of-nature winning 13 cars over the season for his goals of the year! Just hope Ramadan doesn't stop him :S
i actually think ellis will be my D6!

Well i have no choice! If i want to keep birchall as my D3 instead of enright/heppel i have to get rid of a rnd 13 forward for a rnd 12 one...therefore saad-->horlin-smith makes sense yeah? In case your wondering why, its due to my bye structure

Team solid jayman.  My only quibble is playing 2 rookie fwds on the park.  Darling, tapscott and matera were last years best and they avg 65-70 ish between them.  Meanwhile duigan, heppel, lower and stanley avg 10 ppg more.  Obviously a lot of other factors come into that but id much sooner play 2 def or 3 mid rookies than 2 fwd rookies.  Just worth considering.
Maybe downgrade caddy to shiel and try and get porpoise in fwds?

Love the/our new team! Pretty perfect in my books and don't worry too much about Clarke.. He hasn't really lit it up so far in the nab and there are better rookies around!! 9.57/10

Great call! Haha! Definite cheer for that :)
Definitely better having a combined thread than 14* individual ones though!

I have faith in treloar getting 70 avg on the wing but gws fwds wont get many opportunities.
Caddy set to be a gun but pricey given shiel will likely be even better.

Def: Cant fault, Heppel is a great unique if he can continue last years form

Mids: Hope Caddy can give you something as M4! other than that looks good

Ruc: Hmac is a risk, but if he gets enough game time will score highly

Fwd: great picks

Hi Jayman,

I would leave out  Hogan as he was bad today. Miles is playing better so i would look at bringing him in the other player you could look at is Koby Stevens.
Apart from that you have a strong team. I give your team a 8.5/10. The way Martin played today you couln't leave him out.

dyson should go ok. I like the picks of caddy and h-mac! caddy teared up tonigh and is a lock! and hamish IS the best midpriced ruckman. hogan will probably just hold his spot in my team, would be gone if neale hadnt got injured!!! i think porps is the perfect f6 given the lack of rookie fwds.

Thanks for the rate and that on my team, heres my feedback on yours.

backs - love them, as they are very similar to mine, cant fault.
mids - three guns three rooks seems to be the go this year, and caddy is going to be a very good pick up! not sold on kavs job security thought.
rucks - not sold on h mac just yet, wouldnt have him personally.
forwards - porplyzia is almost to expensive for f6, i would downgrade dangerfield to saad, and use the cash to upgrade macintosh to cox, could be a huge ruck combo that way!
9/10, few educated risks but should be worth it, good team!

yeah im hoping caddy guns it :D im not sold on kav either but what other rnd12 bye options do I have now that neale has gone down! I think h-mac will have a good year, and at that price he is very hard to ignore. I like porps as f6 because atm the forward line rookies are weak this year, so starting 2 would result in some low scores. So you think cox/saad will outscore danger/h-mac? Cheers mate, helped a lot :)

Will assess this way Jay

Backs: Difference between Broughton and Heppell favour Broughton Slightly
Mids: Basically difference between Swan and Murphy,  Swan winds no question
Rucks: Cox/Reddan   v Mumford/Hmac  With Cox outstanding form and working out H Mac with Goldstein in Petrie would slightly favour Cox/Reddan
Forwards: Choice between Pav and Fyfe and I would possibly call this even.

So what does this say basically Team B has the better scoring potential imo. Others may differ though.

Ok but I can only see 12 real premiums.

Some have claimed up to 15 - but that's BS isn't it?

Deledio for later I think. Draw from hell - Carlton in the game that has made the Tigers Carlton's baitch / Collingwood on the rebound (Go Hawks) / Melbourne (OK may win this) / Geelong @ Geelong (2 in a row unlikely) / WCE!

Going for Hogan and Caddy a bit greedy maybe? If you let one go for a rookie priced rookie you can afford Boomer.

Also Lake and Porps are other non rookie priced starters who could go well but will cost you a premium I think.

Backs: Can't really fault you here, very much stock standard field line up. Only thing is with the rookies not sure how their JS is, Morris seems to be fighting for a position with ellis and B Ellis is in front. Smedts for obvious reasons playing at Geelong but he will definitely get games just not sure how early.

Mids: Obviously the first 3 are dominant nothing to complain about there. But with caddy do you think he will average above 75-80? Personally you might as well find a decent rookie/mature age around 106k-130 (or Magner if he comes up) and get the same scores. Haven't seen much of Kavanagh so not sure what's going on there.

Rucks: If that's the stragery you're going for that's prefect. (can possibly upgrade if downgrade porpz and caddy)

Forwards: Very strong all the way on the field. Porpz is a personally preference, is a great pick if he fits in your team. He will give you an 85 avg at his best. Wait and see on couch and pfeffier is a solid choice.

Well, Bugg for a starters should proabably be in before Morris and Smedts.. then there isn't a whole lot more just have another look at NAB this week and rd 1 teams. Magner should be right though.  :)

Solid Jayman.  Caddy is an issue - regardless of bye strat etc, 80k extra for a rookie isnt advisable.  Downgrade him and see where you could use that 80k.  Even keeping it, allowing an accerated, one trade upgrade in r4-5 is better.

Not a bad stat - but keep in mind that he was playing against GWS and he came on with fresh legs for the second half of a game without many stars in the middle. I do like him though, just don't take that stat to make your decision.

Solid Team for the structure you have gone for.
One thing I have learned this year with Salary Cap depending on structure used one line has a perceived weakness.  In your case you have a strong mid with a weaker forward line.
Malceski may be good for you if he can stay injury free and maintain NAB cup form.

I reckon Caddy will be a great pick. And Danger is great value - definitely the equal of those around the $500 K ( Petrie / Zaha / Lewis / Gray / Robinson / Adams ) and saves you $65 and gets DPP and they have a relatively easy draw to start.

Good luck.

Thoughts?

Backs: Not sure about having three tigers in the one line, though I have noticed a few teams with that combination today.  Aside from that good line.

Mids:  Good premiums and pretty good rookies as well.  Don't think it needs to be said to watch for whether Magner is elevated and over the injury.

Rucks: Good.

Forward: Again strong.  I'm not sure Pfeiffer is the best rookie option going around but that's nitpicking.

Overall 9/10

think you need another premium mid. i'd downgrade malceski for lake or hargrave and porpis for a rookie and then upgrade caddy.
otherwise strong 8/10

yeah was a bit of a let down last week with his poor SC score! rather coniglio? or go even cheaper and try and get tom lynch (crows) in for porpoise or maybe try and squeeze pendles in for swan?

Which combo? Cox & Porps or Mummy & Lynch

Ok at first look i bet you'll all say cox/porps...but let me explain! Cox cant get better, and with nic nat gradually getting more ruck time and cox has been played up forward which will limit his scoring! Mummy on the other hand can improve and I believe will average 115+...porps is the common F6/7 option but he will be playing key foward, resulting in inconsistent scores and his shoulders are a worry too. Lynch will play a sort of high-half forward role and has no injury troubles and he has a higher points per time on ground during nab!

And by the way my team is

I'm going Mummy not for the same reasons, but that he should dominate 1st 1/2 of the season based on the draw. In that time the 3 rookies should fatten up more than adequately to pick up the No1 Ruck for the Year. So even if it is still Cox, you aren't going to pay any more than you would starting Cox and bringing in a more expensive Mummy.

Personally don't know alot about Lynch, but if your gut says this unique is worth the punt, then that could be the difference b/w you and the masses.

Food for thought thou, Porps has an easier run than most , potencially allowing larger scores in that key forward role. So at his price, having a rolecoaster b/w weaker and tougher opposition, it shouldn't deter people from taking that punt on him.

Great team either way.

Post by: Ringo on March 23, 2012, 11:39:41 AM
The only concern I have with Mummy when going with the 1/3 Ruck structure is his history of suspensions and injuries which is ok if you have another prem but relying then on 2 rookies to score big for any period is a risk. He misses 4/5 games per year and would hate to see this at start of year before rookies fatten up. He is a little inconsistent with 10 scores below 100 including 3 below 70. Averages 47.6 hit outs per game which aids SC scoring. Admitedly he has a reasonable draw which may result in big scores but need to wigh up against possible games missed.
Cox is extremely durable and has only missed 9 games since the start of the 2008 season.  Can not see Cox's average falling much even with Nats increased time on Ground. Cox is very consistent with only 6 scores below 100 and only 2 below 70.

Have looked at Lynch myself but eventually went with Porps due to draw and the form he showed in NAB cup final. Either choice is sound.

Trust this helps a little.

a very poor week by me... hoping for at least 2100... i was a bit unlucky ho:
backs: broughton, enough said, smedts and Ellis were on my field, bugg on bench
mids: very pleased with my premiums + magner! sheil=let down!
rucks: wouldve like 20 more from mummy
fwd: goodes Martin porpoise should all up their game by 20! all my fwd rookies were shower apart from Kennedy !

no trades this week but next week i might squeeze in mohr/ clay for underperforming rooks and broughton will get the sack!

Jayman don't worry about your problems this week

Broughton will be fine. Too many people are going of him. He'll definitely get 100 next week
Shiel is a gun. Best 18 year old in the country. Projected to be a top 3 pick until he was prelisted.
Mummy I was surprised with. I reckon he'll be great next week
Goodes I was unsure with. Hopefully this isn't the season where his age gets to him
Martin never plays well against Carlton. Plus he was tagged.

Wouldn't be so quick to get rid of Hall - Bock back this week will free him up a bit and provide plenty of crumbs for him around the packs. Milera has performed well against some terrible opposition, what happens when their run gets harder? Is he likely to drop out when their proven senior players return?

be interested to see what your thoughts are on broughton jayman, im in pretty much in the exact same boat - struggling with what to do with him and ranked a little behind you - although our team structure is completely different.

my plan was to downgrade broughton and coniglio to marty clarke and toby greene, keeping $400k in the kitty for two quick upgrades but i feel as if getting two rookies in will only hurt my scores further and my rankings will slip away quite quickly. what do you think? little bit of pain for a huge gain?

Yeah milera might not play every game this year but will still make quick $$$

my thoughts:
Broughton is a good footballer but isnt fantasy relevant atm due to his role
At best he will be up and down all year...could still average 90 odd
Will drop a lot in price this week so now is time to trade (dempsey geary clarke etc)
Dont listen to above statement if you want to ride the rollercoaster 8)

1. Yes deledio is my captain :D
2. Should I trade broughton-->dempsey
3. Should I select an 'E' in my rucks?

I changed a did the Milera trade also ;)
I'm looking at ditching Broughton, like you said in the above statement - he is almost fantasy irrelevant ATM.
Not sure to who though.. If I had the money I would go to Birchall but ATM tossing up between Malceski and Dempsey.. Haven't discounted just keeping him though and saving the trade

As a precaution I would name an emergency Ruck. If Mummy is a late withdrawl again you will pick up at least 60 points with Redden.

I am perservering with Broughton this week to see what his role will be against Brisbane. If he is given another lock down role on Rockliff or Rich then he will be outski but if given run in mids then maybe keep.  Mundy also named so this should be the guide.
Hoping Broughton does not fall too much in value as I am considering a straight swap to Bock if he towells it up this week.

ballsy call on Delidio but can understand your reasoning as Hocking traditionally keeps Ablett quiet.

what line would you take the 'E' off? Presuming mids?

Broughton is tearing my hair out! One thing for sure is that he will lose value this week and dempsey will rise! Now might be the time to offload???

Keep Broughton - he has a much higher chance of becoming a keeper than Dempsey. It will be semi-unique having him after this week and it could pay off big time!

Personally, I would consider Chappy as a straight swap, despite his dismal performance on the weekend.

Mummy to Sandi was good for you. For your info watched the game last night and although he had some treatment on legs in second quarter ran the game out strongly especially in the forth quarter when game was there to be won.   IMO if there was concern with him and with Clarke also in the team would not have continued with him in the ruck.

Like us all probably keeping a watch on Ablett.

Will be doing the same trade myself Ledger > Treloar.

Keep an eye on Kennedy his B/e are now positive and with the low scores he has had in the last 2 games may be time to cash him over the next couple of weeks. Also Millera he has a b/e of 33 this week. So you may want to consider.

I am keeping an eye on Browny - He had his swagger back on Saturday Night after taking a couple of contested marks. Price will probably drop a little due to low score in first game back. Would be a steal if price dropped to $350k perfect downgrade/upgrade. Perfect F7 if he averages 90 for year.

Sandi will be in and out would be tempted to bite the bullet and go Sandi to Nic Nat and pocket $93k Nic Nat is 3rd in ruck averages so far so you can not go to wrong. Your decision though.

I think i need a tad more convincing :D

Ok... In regards to the ruck.

Option A)

Bite the bullet take Naitanui on the cheap and pretend this never happened.  Assumes these type of stupid injuries will occur, and he will fade in 2nd half of season.

Option B)

Assume Sandilands will be the highest scoring ruck of 2012, averaging close to ~115+, missing about 2-3 games, with 1 game not covered by rookie score.

Take a pick on the assumption you want to make.  Neither is correct or incorrect.  With the way Redden/Orren are looking each game Sandilands misses may be potentially a donut using the 3RR structure.

I sense you are leaning towards trading sandi then? Ill admit it has merit...you see what I mean tho as I only traded him in last week ::) sandi has turned injury prone and as you said CS by the looks of it donuts will come...if you can tell me that if you were in my situation* you would trade him out I would happily do it!

*my situation- having just traded in sandi....have already used 3 trades (not including ledger > treloar this week)...have an easy league game this week (next week not so easy)

I'm neutral  8)

I can understand if you can keep him or trade him out of your team.  If league only, yeah keep him.
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (help me and ill help you)
Post by: charliesheen on April 27, 2012, 01:09:18 AM
Like I said, it comes down to the assumptions you want to make.

If you assume Sandilands season's total will still be greater than all the other rucks, you keep him.  This assumes you have adequate cover.

If you assume Naitanui/Ryder/etc can match his season's total @ 100K+ cheaper you should really trade.

Now I am biased, because I strongly believed people should never have started either Sandilands or Mumford with the 3RR structure, because the risks out weigh the benefits.

I also believe Naitanui will easily average ~105 sc, and is currently underpriced and basically a 100% lock for me next year.

Your call...  I think your trade situation is okay tbh, and save a lot of heart attacks.

I'm in the same boat Jay - traded in Sandi for Mummy last week and intend to keep him. I already had Nic Nat however, and think Giles is a more than adequate cover. Can you justify 2 sideways ruck trades in the space of two weeks? ZCould be that NicNat goes down and Sandi is back next week... then what? :o

Wait and see who is named.  With Sandilands in your team, I would consider Porps > Roughead.  Which may mean downgrading Devon Smith to Horsley or Pfieffer.

Means next time Sandilands misses, just downgrade one of your rucks to Rowe/Pattison/etc.

Porps > cheapest ruck MPP
Redden > roughead

enough cash to do that?

Sandilands looking like missing agian.

Ive done the calculations and these are my trade options:

Double trade:
Porps-->5fa
Magner-->hayes/barlow

Porps-->5fa
Magner-->danger/zaha/beams/lewis/robinson/pav

Porps-->5fa
Magner (sub kennedy/treloar)-->roughead

OR
just the one trade:
Porps-->5fa

D.smith-->5fa

Or simply stick with having 20 trades 8)

pfeiffer

thoughts?
P.S havent ruled out swapping sandi with nic nat

I would probably go Smith>Pfieffer if you needed the cash for some trade next week, like Roughead.  I wouldn't be against grabbing Horsley a week early either.

Think you should back your judgment on Sandilands that he will be the highest averaging ruck in 2012 and this will offset games missed.

Roughead has a BE of 128, so it wouldn't hurt to get another look at him.  Would be nice to get him before Melbourne though, seeing what Rockliff did to them playing up forward.

Hopefully you get a price rise out of Redden too.

Ok ill keep the faith in sandi...if redden/stephenson dont play then ill cop a donut...make it worse Im vsing the top team this week (who is averaging 2.6ppg more than me)...he doesnt have sandi
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (help me and ill help you)

Always surprise when teams are out...in a nutshell:
• sandi, stephenson, redden OUT so will cop a 0
• kennedy back in
• hall still out
• treloar out
• shaw back

Still considering d.smith-->pfeiffer but since he is named and hall isnt...trade hall-->pfeiffer instead...and hopefully smith can score 80 and go up in price this week 8)

Chill out mate.

Shiel onto field for McDonald - Treloar as E
Goodes needs to be traded - I suggest a keeper such as Pavlich rather than Stevie J - he's had only one game over 70...
I made the Magner --> Horsley trade this week, so i'd suggest that also.

20 down to 18 trades is sufficient at this stage. Most people allocate 2-4 trades for rookie adjustments anyway.

Im happy with my week! Malceski and Murph, I expected more!!! 150 betweem those to prevented me from 2400 grrr

Trades considering:
Bugg-->Spurr
Porplyzia-->Roughead(would help with rucks)/SteveJ(negative b/e)

(also keeping my one on matt priddis to become my final premium mid in a few weeks...a shiel or magner swap looks likely there!

Team:
96k           18trades         1st in league
Goddard deledio shaw broughton malceski bugg morris <ellis(E) smedts>
Pendlebury ablett murphy boyd selwood magner <shiel mcdonald>
Sandi giles <redden stephenson>

Ok im thinking

a) one trade ellis-->spurr

b) double trade ellis-->spurr & hall-->?

Keeping bugg becuae I need all the round 11 bye defenders I can get ad getting rid of ellis because he has a high b/e and isnt in need of being played in bye rounds.......im keeping porps becuase I think he can hold an F7 until I get around to my last fwd upgrade and we all saw how st kilda's small forwards destroyed carlton on Monday
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)

I think a lot depends if you plan on tanking the byes, and which bye you plan on tanking.

You don't really need another R12 back rookie like Spurr.  Already have Broughton, Shaw, Malceski, Smedts.
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)
Post by: Jay on May 16, 2012, 05:23:14 PM
good to have you backs CS!

im not really planning to tank the byes, but I.dont think i have to really worry about them as I am undefeated in my league...as long as I finish top 4 ill be happy :) of course I dont want to completely bomb out in all 3.rounds tho and see my overall go down and down and down as I see finishing with best average at end of season a critical bragging right!

no I dont NEED another rnd 12 defender but spurr is tempting! and im not sure on Brennan's and Wilkes' JS
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)
Post by: charliesheen on May 16, 2012, 07:48:19 PM
I think the trade will be situational because I am not sure Spurr is going to be the next Nick Lower.  There could be plenty of other rookies like Zorko, Sexton, Darley, etc which will you allow you to upgrade the backs to suit the byes rather than downgrade.

Also Jenkins might be a legitimate option so you may not need the Roughead/Pattison combination.

yeah good call! spurr isnt a must ill admit!!

what do you think of porps-->lake (smedts fwd)??? it would give me an extra rnd 11 defender and an extra round 12 fwd which is what I need! while also getting rid of a rnd 12 defender and a rnd 11 fwd :D

my forward line would become sh!thouse tho!!!

Porplyzia > Harvey

Goddard deledio shaw broughton malceski bugg morris <ellis(E) smedts>
Pendlebury ablett murphy boyd selwood magner <shiel mcdonald>
Sandi giles <redden stephenson>
Franklin sidebottom martin harvey adams treloar d.smith <milera hall>

Shiel > Zorko
D.Smith > Zaharackis

Pendlebury ablett murphy boyd selwood magner <zorko mcdonald>
Sandi giles <redden stephenson>

ya 430k for single trade is too hard to pass up.  porplyzia has done his job.  pretty confident he will come good, averages 124 against port adelaide this week.

boomer always does this, the issue is always with "timing" when to get him into your team.  get him in too early, you cop all those showerty scores.

yep 430k for a proven 100ppg is good value...could drop more with a b/e in the mid-120s

porps is gone I agree with that :)

im also confident boomer will come back as well but when? hasnt shown any signs yet?

whitecross is tempting with his mid-50 b/e...also cheaper than harvey and averaging more :D

Your going to need R11 premium at some stage.  The only real options are Danger & Boomer really.

430K for proven & durable R11 forward too hard to pass up.  You should be happy you paid peanuts for him.

Keep forgetting your going for leagues.  One thing you may consider is tanking R12 and avoiding the weak R11 options.  This could mean selling Bugg for Spurr this week.

R12: Swan, Pendlebury, Selwood, Kennedy, Watson, Stanton, SJ, Chapman, Beams, Sidebottom, Zaharackis, Duffield, Heppel, etc...

So many good options.

yep good call :)

if i wanted danger i could get him by: ellis-->spurr & porps -->danger

would screw my rnd 12 backs tho!!! gotta weigh up the pros & cons!

correct me if im wrong...dont I need a rnd 12 fwd??? as my only one is sidey atm

Mix 13 & 12's don't worry about round 11's unless they are on your bench.  Mainly 12's though.

Tanking R12 means, getting as many R12's as possible.

not sure i 100% see where you are coming from (all this bye stuff is to much for bloke like me) but i trust your judgement...so yeah if another rnd 11 bye forward is critical then it will be done ;)

harvey or brown or danger (2trades) hmmmmm

You need to keep your non-r11 rookies.

Murphy > Zorko
GWS rookie not named > R12 premium fwd.

cheer CS...missed ya last week

Murphy-->Zorko looks good
& depending on teams
Porps/non-playing gws rookie-->Danger?

It doesnt have to be a rnd 12 forward does it? Got zaha last weel for that purpose...sidey is there as well

Danger might cause problems with your setup.  Take R12.

Murphy > Zorko
Porps > Crameri

You like???

The thing is, id rather trade out Magner or even Milera over Porplyzia!?
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)

If you can keep Porps, definitely do so.  Trade any GWS rookies that are not named before considering him.

Not sold on Crameri personally.
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)

looking at my bye structure...my setup atm is:
B: 1/4/4
M: 3/3/2
R: 1/2/1
F: 4/2/3

my ideal setup:
B: 2/4/3
M: 2/3/3
R: 2/1/1
F: 2/3/4

ideally i want to use 0 trades during bye rounds but just set up well before hand, resulting in limited donuts...

long-term trade plan:
Murphy > Zorko
gws rookie > rnd 13 bye forward

morris > darley
gws rookie > walsh

those above trades would leave my setup as:
B: 2/4/3 (perfect)
M: 4/3/1
R: 1/2/1
F: 2/3/4 (perfect)

then mids would become no.1 priority with old-mac and shiel having to be traded to 2 rnd 13 mids before rnd11!!!

how would be the best way to get to my ideal setup CS (any others)???
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)

I would go R12 premium forward.  Sexton & Darley might fix some of your other issues.
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)
Post by: Jay on May 23, 2012, 09:50:28 PM
ahhh forgot about Sexy and his rnd 13 bye :P in that case I could go a rnd 12 forward and walsh would become Sexton. End up with same result just Crameri/Sexton over Lewis/Walsh!

comes down to opinion I guess of those 4 players...overall does the trading system look good? will.it.be too much of a struggle getting my mid structure set up right before rnd 11

I think it's doable.  Doesn't have to be absolutely perfect.  Most of these rookies are going to be a coin toss, just like Pfieffer a few weeks ago.

Porps > Danger

hello charlie,

thanks for the trade thoughts.
smith has a b/e of 42 and adams has a b/e of 51...both should rise this week but not by too much. i feel adams could cop a rest after his game on saturday...i still feel he should be higher than 250k?! smith however is very close to being maxed out IMO.
convinced on darley???????
keep morris in backs? i feel he's peeked???????
miss out on Sexy???????
what forward for Adams??????

BE is not very meaningful.  Trade the R11 rookie who you don't think will play R12 and R13.

Chapman/SJ/Beams/NRiewoldt are all good options.

Not entirely sold on Darley, but we are at the point where you need to take gamble on rookies.  Sexton you can always get the week after for a tiny bit more.

would be my pick of the bunch considering im going with the tank rnd13 strategy*

Thinking Smith&Adams > Darley(smedts fwd)&n-dal/robbo

Thoughts?

*i have come to a final decision that my bye round tactic will be to limit donuts in rounds 11&12 but avoid trading...rnd13 will be my nothing round as I am assured the win...therefore im trying to load up on rnd13 players (before rnd13 obviously)...n-dal & robbo come to mind.

Gday CS, Ringo and others...

Just letting you know that i want six trades going into league finals...so barring LTI's i have a maximum of 6 trades to finalise my team...im still top of my league, a game clear, and have best percentage...so im in a great position to finish top 4...

12 trades...5.5k...going for league(1)
B: goddard deledio scotland broughton shaw malceski delaney <ellis darley>
M: ablett pendlebury boyd selwood shiel mcdonald <d.smith magner>
R: sandilands giles <redden stephenson>
F: franklin sidebottom dangerfield zaharakis martin zorko treloar <milera adams>

So what would be the best way to finish this team ^^^ using only 6 trades?

EDIT: starting to think D.Smith > J.Elliot is a good idea!?

in short. Yes i do think I can still finish top 4! Im a game clear of 2nd and have best percentage! Might just add that im 3rd by total points, so im not invincible haha

Dont bring up Scotland mate! Bring him in for smedts...smedts late in, rises in price...scotland plays, scores 85, out for 3 weeks!!!!

Selling Smith good idea, not sure about Elliot.  You can even take a stab in the dark at Tom Mitchell.  He will get games eventually, and you don't care about byes anyway.

If I were to disregard byes.  I would be keen on getting the following upgrades

BACKS: MJ & Waters
MIDS: JPK & Swan
FWDS: Beams, SJ, Chapman
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)
Post by: Jay on June 05, 2012, 09:09:01 AM
Not sure bout Elliot either...but what other options are there? Sexton? Mitchell?

Ive been studying my team, and I actually only need 4 upgrades for now! D6, M5, M6, F5. This means id keep eski as D7 and zorko as F7 for a while, which im ok with...

So: 1 of treloar/milera/adams > beams/SJ/chapman
2 of shiel/mcdonald/d.smith/magner > JPK/Swan
1 of delaney/ellis/darley > waters/MJ

How do I go about this CS?

With injuries to Swan and Pendles is Marley Williams an alternative at a very cheap price ($94,600) to make some cash if named this week which I suspect he would be given Pies are playing Melbourne.  Has a huge negative B/e as well.

not sure whether to keep zaha

yes darren jolly, thoughts? :)

Jolly with a bye this week so you can hold that trade if need be.

Tank R12.  Best premiums are R12 full stop.

IMO, forget priddis just bring in the R12 players you want.

Sandi > Naitanui
Magner > Gibson
Zaha > D.Swan/Chappy/SJ/JPK/Beams/etc..

Thanks guys! Made my mind up im not relying on Jolly as no.1 ruck for rest of season, so there goes that idea!

What about this?

this week:
•ellis > s.shaw
•rook not named > gibson
•magner > priddis

next week:
•sandi > ryder/NicNat or other prem.ruck depending on $$$

Thoughts?

imo, would only take priddis if your trade situation is bad.  way way better options, especially for leagues.  remember the pies have melbourne in R21 finals, where we saw beams, sidebottom, swan all get 150's.

zaharackis could be out for potentially 6 weeks, you cant afford to keep him.

i think i need priddis due to my trade situation...i have still have 4 upgrades to do (a D6, M5, M6, F6) + a few downgrades to that and that will leave me with ?4? trades come finals *fingers crossed

i have to start making some compromises e.g. priddis & cloke bring in over next two weeks....

gotta quote here from fever on a PT thread...

"zaha, it was a 4-6wk injury, right? i would 100% be holding him. you have bench cover, mpp flexibility and are comfortable in your league. no brainer hold."

think this is what I will do:

this week
ellis > s.shaw (if named)
rookie(surely 1 wont be named) > gibson (if named)
magner > priddis

next week
rookie > cloke
sandi > prem. ruck (depends on who I trade to cloke, all about the $â,¬â,¬

this leaves me with 7 trades and 2 more positions to upgrade

teams are out! like always, plans have changed:

this week:
TONIGHT
magner > gibson
mcdonald > priddis

TOMORROW
ellis > s.shaw (dont want there to be any late changes as not reverse trades during partial lockout)

next week:
sandi > NicNat
milera > cloke

THOUGHTS??

R12 Score: 1950
League position: 1

Had a very good win, which has seen me go back to top of my league

The trades completed last week were: delaney, magner & mcdonald > shaw, gibson & priddis...really payed off :)

9 trades...162.9k...going for league(1)
B: goddard deledio scotland broughton h:shaw malceski s.shaw <ellis darley>
M: ablett pendlebury boyd selwood  priddis shiel  <d.smith gibson>
R: sandilands giles <redden stephenson>
F: franklin sidebottom dangerfield zaharakis martin zorko treloar <milera adams>

Got plently of cash to splash...sandi needs to go, ryder and NicNat look like prime targets......would also like to bring in Trav. Cloke this week, for milera or d.smith maybe???

May as well just lock in trades now...sandi > NicNat/Ryder, milera > patton, d.smith > beams

last chance if someone wants to help...please! Charliesheen, where r u mate? :(

Sandilands > T.Campbell

Grab Swan and a premium forward like Chappy/Goodes, or Cloke (if you feel your low on trades)

Pick up Mumford for Orren later when he is bottomed out, if you really want to gamble :)

CHARLIESHEEN!!!! missed ya bud :D

tom campbell o.O dont know much about him, would free up a heap of cash tho! leaves me with rucks of giles & redden/orren/campbell (until i upgrade one, to a bottomed out ruck e.g. mummy as you suggested)

yeah i NEED swanny! would be nice to finish off the mids :D

so do i trade miliera & one of d.smith/treloar (depending on teams) > swan & beams (prefer him to options suggested, but goodes could be a nice POD ???
Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)

well, this weeks league game is as good as won

treloar has the higher BE, over 100 if i remember correctly, but this is his first bad game and has shown he can score keeper worthy (had an average of 81 up until last week) him and zorko could be a great M7/F7 combo!

i dont have the same optimisim for d.smith.....would much rather trade him out, but I would gain less $$$

yeah great js for milera....never know when he might come in handy 8) as i said, not worried about R13, got it won, the bloke im playing is tanking this round!

comes down to
Reasons to trade Treloar - is very pricey, will bleed $$$ for a couple of weeks
Reasons to keep Treloar - has scored well consistently

Reasons to trade D.Smith - isnt as gooder (is that a word?) scorer as Treloar
Reasons to keep D.Smith - shouldnt drop too much in price

Reasons to trade Milera - has peaked in price, isnt a high scorer
Reasons to keep Milera - great job security

so trades for this week Charliesheen: sandi & two of milera, d.smith & treloar > campbell, swan, goodes
future trades: orren > mumford (or other bottomed out ruck)

would leave team as something like this:

5 trades
B: goddard deledio scotland broughton h.shaw malceski s.shaw <ellis darley>
M: ablett pendlebury boyd selwood  priddis swan  <shiel gibson>
R: mumford giles <redden campbell>
F: franklin sidebottom dangerfield zaharakis martin goodes zorko<milera adams>

thoughts? keep in mind, i would like 3-4 trades for finals

Well you need to look @ things as a whole.  Equation could comes down to

Cloke & Carrots

vs

Goodes & Rookie

Cloke as North Melbourne in R21, could absolutely smash them.  I dunno you have to look at your bank yourself its too hard for me.

the rooke, what position???? Also who would I trade to Carrots? Hard to do the maths if not sure on key points...

dont wanna sound too cocky...but there is a decent chance, ill have a week off in R21...making Cloke's score useless...dont wanna get too far ahead of myself though :D

Hey J, G'day,

How about

OUT go Sandi Treloar and Milera

IN come NicNat (Ryder) Beams and Crozier / Couch.

All depends upon selections of course, but you get 2 keepers in for 1 out.

Leaves you just 5 trades but then only need Swan when he drops a bit, one def upgrade, say Birchall and maybe one fwd if you don't like Zorko as F7.

Food for thought.

GoodDay to you as well Doc 8)

I like that as well! Little less risky than CS's idea as well, gotta risk it to get that biscuit tho ;)

like many, im not sold on either crozier or couch! patton has best js of all but too expensive, morabito will be a nice downgrade in the mids soon, might wait till he presents himself...also i believe 3 trades leaves me with 6 trades not 5!

also...thoughts on shiel and eski? shiel is getting near his peak (be of 55) and if I get swn, dont want him just sitting on bench! Also with ellis/darley/s.shaw doing well...could I get away with playing one of those a week as a D7...if that's the case, then I could trade eski???

If i trade treloar > swan...then I would lose DPP which I need to help cover Zaha!

Shiel worth hanging onto for a week or two in terms of $ and hopefully gets a game.

Suspect Treloar will be generally sore. Might start using that diagnosis as a matter of fact!

High BE for Hargrave and Eski - maybe time to go for one.

Swan would be a great C this week with Ablett, Pendles and Ledger out.

wait what??? 1. i dont have hargrave and 2. what the flower has ledger got to do with captaincy!? haha your a strange doctor ;)

okay ill keep shiel and bite the bullet (the losing DPP bullet)

tossing up between these trades:
sandi, treloar and milera > campbell, cloke, swan (150k in the bank)

VS

sandi, treloar and milera > NicNat, Beams(Goodes), Patton

im not sure if $$$ does make a difference, will depend on how I want to finish my backs...just thinking that with Zorks staying as my F7, cloke might no be good enough for F6, F7 yeah good pick, but need a decent 6th forward I think with Zaha injured and Dusty Martin being Dusty Martin

my trade plan atm (all depends on what tor01doc supplies later on today as to whether ill change it):
this week
sandilands > campbell
treloar > swan
milera > cloke

when mumford has bottomed out
redden/orren > mumford

when morabito is on the bubble
shiel > morabito

THOUGHTS ???

So. This is where we disagree.

I would be getting a decent ruckman. NicNat or Ryder. Done deal for the rest of the year. A nice feeling that.

Cloke - you like. OK then, how about getting rid of Donuts Zaha and Milera this week.

So out go Sandi Zaha and Milera - 3 donuts and 1 1/2 LTI's

In - NicNat and Cloke (I'd prefer Chapman or Goodes) and have about $348000 left for a rookie and set up for next week.

Just a thought.

If deadset on keeping Zaha then Treloar goes giving you less scope to get a decent ruck but then you like Campbell. Has he even been selected?

Title: Re: Jayman's team! (going for league win)
Post by: charliesheen on June 21, 2012, 12:32:09 PM
I would never start with Mumford, but I would definitely consider finishing with him when he has bottomed out.

You saw how he finished 2011 coming back from injury with a huge bang.  If you have been following Sydney you know they are hitting some form and there is still Goodes coming back.

Risk vs Reward.  I took a gamble on Giles>Goldstein 3 weeks ago, and it put me in the top 100.  I think Mumford has the same potential, and <500K going to be hard to pass up.

thanks Doc :) good to have some contrasting opinions!

Well first off I have a super easy league game this week this bloke is tanking R13 so my team will tear his a new one! So my donuts this week dont really matter, if this changes your trade idea, let me know!

I do agree with you, getting NicNat or Ryder would be great. You dont think Mumford & Giles will be good enough?

I do think Cloke is a bargain at <400k. He has still cracked the ton quite a few times this year and has a 30 BE i think. No doubt goodes/chappy are better, but gotta factor in $$$ here!

I think I can keep zaha. only 2-4 weeks away and this week is easy so only 1-3 away approx. mpp is handy and wil be a good POD

Any other suggestions doc? Appreciate it :)

In that case just get Cloke if you must.

Treloar out Cloke in.

The others are still rising and Swan may well drop more than they rise and you don't need him this week.

Sandi, Milera won't drop and you get an extra week's insurance on Swan if you wait.

I think its silly not to take the mid upgrade this week.

What if someone else gets injured/suspended next week, it delays your entire upgrade process.  Swan is a good captain choice this week.

So:
Sandi > Campbell
Treloar > Cloke
Milera > Swan

Why Campbell - how many games will he get?

Swan won't rise by nearly as much as Cloke.

How freaked out are you by having 6 trades left?? Because, even though i said yesterday to risk it for the biscuit and go Mummy and NDS, if you wanted to, you could always this week go Devon Smith >> Tom Couch (or someone at 94k with dpp who may play in the future) and then go Redden to Mumford. This would leave you enough money to get any mid in the comp next week if you trade out Shiel. The only thing is it would leave 3 trades, and you've probably still got to make at least 2 upgrades. But personally, i think the likes of Ellis/Spur/Darley are good enough to ride out as D7 at least till finals, and the same with Zorko as F7.

How much better would your midfield look with:

ablett pendlebury selwood boyd priddis jobe.

as apposed to:

ablett pendlebury selwood boyd priddis NDS.

Just my thoughts.

my only concern with that is shiel dropping as well??? He has a BE of 100 so will drop this week.

would be a disaster if i have to do another downgrade in order to gain so little

Yes it's risky but i was so unsure in the end, so i went with my gut! Fingers crossed :)

Already got next week's trade sorted...s.shaw/darley/ellis > yarran

This would give me 3 trades and a completed team! Yarran is a great D7 imo...at 257k with a BE of 25...straight swap for a rookie 8)

Ablett pendles boy selwood priddis dal-santo <gibson dsmith>
Mumford giles <campbell orren>
Buddy sidebottom dangerfield martin cloke zaharakis zorko <milera adams>

Obviously a D7 is necessary hence this weeks trade plans...ellis > yarran!?!? Yarran could average 90-odd for rest of year, more than enough for a D7, and being a straight swap for a rookie...im in :D

I'd say do it. Yarran at that price is tempting. He is high risk vs high reward but if he plays like he did on Friday then it will be a masterstroke!

Zaha still a few weeks away is worrying.

But scoring wise, it was a terrible round for me. Broughton, MJ, NDS, Cloke were as shower as ever.

This week I finally have a full-strength team. With Goddard & Martin returning

3trades. 10.5k. 1st in league

the SC gods have gifted me with having to start ellis, darley and milera this week. Thankfully no donuts, unless milera doesnt make the final cut :(

i doubt any trades need to be done this week unless Doc. has any grand plans?

Roughead to R2.

Also remember you still have a couple of cash cows making money.

Will help your upgrade up front when time comes.
a captain decision still has to be made, and it is a rather important league game...vsing 4th on the ladder, and if I lose i drop back to 2nd place

I average 113 more points than him but he has something ridiculous like 10 trades left, so he is building some good form.

Thoughts? :)

Sitting first in league affords you the luxury of NO
TRADES this week.

Just sit and from the info you have provided you should still win without trading.

Trades will be gold in finals.

Backs still one short I think.

Carrots, Waters ( not this week though as seems a ridiculously short recovery), or Birchall at some stage.

Sitting pretty by the looks of it.

mate. Does it really matter? Im probly gonna losr, but i'll still be on top by percentage, whether I trade or not, ill be top...and its getting to the stagw where trades are vital! Just keep my situation in mind when opinionating CS! Anyway here is HIS team....remember HIS not mine:

B: deledio goddard clarke shaw grimes hargrave dempsey ellis darley
M: stanton pendlebury ablett dal-santo priddis d.smith horsley neale
R: natanui sandilands jenkins stephenson
F: franklin dangerfield sidebottom pavlich whitecross porplyzia pfeiffer zorko hall

That's why I thought you had Hargrave.

Baguley's JS is iffy once the injured players come back.

tbh mate i think you've gotta write this week off. there's no way to plug all ur 0s, and if you try you just leave yourself vulnerable for the rest of the year. you'll make the finals so i say hold.

ideally what your remaining trades will be used for:
1. giles>staley this week (ur gonna lose anyway, but giles will probably shed another 20-30k if he puts out another 50 this week), roughy dpp into ruck (bank remaining ~270k).

barring injury/susp next week do not trade.

week leading into finals:
2. ellis/broughton (depending if broughton is back playing)>best defender ~450k (hopefully waters)
1. adams> fyfe

then pray for cloke and mummy and strap yourself in.

thanks very much fever, appreciate the reply :D

some good thoughts there. Giles > Staley trade seems good but remember that i dont need to trade in a fwd/ruc rookie in order to get Roughy into rucks using the new trade system. It might still be a good idea as you never know when the DPP could come in handy...

I also have a feeling that giles might pull out a ton this week. Brogan isnt playing and neither is Jolly for the pies

Thoughts on this mate? :)

Oi there,

How about...ummmm..get rid of Broughton AND Buddy!?  :o

Yes, if you trade both out, you could get Beams and Suckling OR ROK and Hurn.

Just a thought from left field.

If Buddy misses 2 rounds, you'll be stronger by far for those 2 and just a bit weaker for the rest - if at all.

Jay this is a suggestion from left field to replace Broughton and maybe a POD for you to look at Harbrow from Suns. Averaging 100 from the 4 games since his return from injury.  Stumbled across him in my research and may take him myself.

OK sorry was not sure you had the cash I did though.

You only have 3 trades left and need cash so obviosly a downgrade is necessary. Smith is your best option to either McIntyre or Couch both will keep the DPP.  With Gibson playing strongly do not necessarily need to rely on thiis unless mass restings.

Broughton to a Prem and hopefully 100k to assist with last trade.  If looking at Harbrow has an achievable B/e which is why I am probaby moving on him this week. Only owned by .65% of teams so relying on him as a POD for my second last trade for Broughton.  He is playing the Bock riole on his return and final 4 games are against Melbourne, GWS, (both of which he should be up there and GCS will be striving for a win) Hawthorn, Carlton and Adelaide where ball will be predominantly in Suns back half.

You could trade Millera instaed of Smith but will lose $50k. Smith has an achievable B/e whereas Milera does not.

cheers ringo!

Ill certainly look at Harbrow when making the broughton trade! Either him, birchall or waters i think!

Another loss saw me slide down to 4th in league and now have to play best team in league. Im thinking i may just hold the traes as i feel i can knock off the team ill probly play next week (presuming i lose). But if i win, ill be in a good position trade wise! Obviously if i lose this week then ill double trade next...worst fear is that i will bow out with tradrs left!

Last week i completed a broughton > fisher trade...that leaves me with this lineup:

2trades...21.2k
goddard, deledio, h.shaw, scotland, mjohnson, fisher s.shaw <ellis darley>
ablett, pendles, selwood, boyd, nds, priddis <gibson t.adams>

Just look at your match ups Jay and then decide whether you need to trade.  That is waht I am doing as I onkly have 2 trades left and am in sudden death in all but 1 of my leagues.  Flower of a season this year but still aiming to improve my overall ranking to above last years.

With only 2 trades left and a pretty sad looking kitty, you'll have to do 2 trades for a genuine upgrade and S Shaw is really the only dodgy starter so I would wait until it is sudden death and you need to sideways for a rested or injured premium.

'Full strength' = what?

S Shaw and Giles and Cloke in a team is possibly not going to fit the definition of  'full strength'.

If you are only playing Crawfs Chumps then I would get Crouch in for Milera and put an extra $171 800 plus your $21200 = $193 000.

$193 000 plus S Shaw who will be worth $350 000 by then = any defender you want.

Hmm im thinking about the milera > couch trade...just thinking that maybe the trade could be better used next week/week after. what im trying to say is, maybe next week, shaw, giles & cloke wont be my weakness because a couple of my premiums have been rested, requiring sideways trades, and then ill only have 1 :(

Question is: downgrade and get a premium back next week OR save trades for injuries/restings

Losing a prelim is like 4th at the Olympics - may as well not have bothered.

debatable (id be happy with 4th at the olympics) - but i see your point

Would i be better off getting another forward? As gibson is better than cloke and even martin!?!?

Problem is Cloke is so showerly priced now that you could afford sweet FA!

Selwood's worth is gold and wasted sitting on the bench.

trade selwood, move d.smith to mids then get a premium forward?

Leaves no bench cover in defence and I still think they'll have you covered.

Also just hope Cloke doesn't do something ridiculous like play footy.

dont follow - will still do fisher > ???hurn??? but then selwood > best fwd i can afford. Effectively it means i could play gibson over cloke BUT would have to sacrifice getting a prem. mid for a prem. fwd

ROK would be the best forward if you do that?

Murphy looks like he could go really big this week. I'd target him.

Personally I like the Murphy one.

BTW I'm keeping Selwood and getting Beams and Blee for Treloar and Ellis as I think I can sit him on the bench in the 2 leagues I am interested in. Both opponents have Selwood which is handy.

ok...3 options:

1. Fisher > Waters & Selwood > steveJ (moving d.smith to mids) (bench cloke)
2. Fisher > Hanley/Hurn & d.smith > goodes (retain selwood for next week & bench cloke)
3. Fisher > Hanley & Selwood > Murphy (bench gibson)

a couple of other solid options but had to.be narrowed down at some point, and these are my top 3
