Really a 50/50 if this should be strat or players and trades, but anyway the question is

are non-dpp forwards even worth the punt?

look at the fan planner- out of the top 14 averaging forwards, 11 of them are dpp, with the other three being the main forward for the top 3 teams.

We always knew that fwds score better in the mids generally, but those numbers are pretty ridiculous.

Does this make a difference to you? Does it take players like J Riewoldt, Watts and Brown out of contention?

food for though :P

i think KPP forward like buddy and Nroo (tho he is a fallen star in my humble oppinion) are not tradition sit in the goalsquare FF and hence they score well.

Cloak on the other hand is a gun but you find him running around like buddy, hence you check his season stats and you'll find low scores in tight games because he does stay up forward and doesn't get opportunities in tight or wet games.

This turns me off this type of player so my answer is a no (except buddy) all my fwd premiums will be the DPP types after buddy.

look at their premium stats for those players, and compare it to their team rankins year by year :P

begs the question though- does the forward make the team premium, or the team make the forward premium?

In terms of DT, I think the team makes the forward.

for me Buddy is the exception and than guys who are on the cheap in terms of their gun potential, ala Brown & Nroo.

I think the only 2 KPP forwards that will be under consideration next year are Franklin and Cloke

Hadn't thought about a wet season.
That may be an issue this year for all kpp's.
Perhaps no one over 2 meters tall.

+1

and that is exactly who of the tall KPP forwards that should be considered maybe add a couple of rooks like cameron and rowe

I reckon Buddy is a must, Cloke depending on team structure, and a fit and firing J Brown is worth a look in the nab cup. To me N Roo has to prove himself to even be consider, but as stated theres a heap of juicy ddp's to choose from

some worries r coming out on these guys with mpp like martins averages against the teams he plays for the first few rounds, zaka with his knee issues and sidebottom with his write up on DT Talk in mpp FWDS  has me wondering about all these guys could be safer to take cloke, pav, goodes ect

well said pickers, im only jumping on the cheap mpp players plus martin he is going to rip it up, but im grabbing sidebottom, christensen and tossing up whether to have dangerfield or brown (brown the safe bet imo) pav is a gun cloke and buddy are also but they are all significantly dearer. the other worrysome player dpp is fyfe with his fitness coming into round 1, and chappy and his age.

seems most of the dpp fwds come with baggage, except beams who comes with the price instead :(

If you don't have J. Brown in dream team this year you clearly aren't taking dream team seriously. You might as well give up now. J. Brown is the best, high quality value forward available. Lions = top 4 team this year, J. Brown will see plenty of the pill with the rise of Karnezis and other quality recruits the big man, J. Brown will crush and destroy.

J. Brown for: Norm Smith, Brownlow, Coleman, DT Value Pick of The Year Award and Top Bloke Award.

Simply: start with J. Brown or quit while you're behind.
