Rd 1???? :o :o
Last night i watched the Sydney International and i was getting into the Baghdatis vs Del Potro match. Yelling at the screen and all, i don't often do that, and after the match i felt proud to be Greek. ;D ;D Will probably have him in my side.
Yep, round 1. He's beaten players of that calibre before. No reason he can't do it again. His game will be suited up against the Spanish big hitter.
I like Verdasco :P I'll still go for Tomic though...

Gonna be tough, Verdasco won't be happy. Winner will face either De Schepper or Sam Querry, then a possible 3rd round match against Dolgopolov. :-\
Hewitt has Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, then a 2nd round match against ANDY RODDICK. ;D

Well my aim is to pick the winner of the open....The Joker. :P
Dude your on too something there. I'm gunna re-jig a few things. I too had Milos but then I reckon Joker will beat him.

Chela won? Excellent. 8)
Murray came through in the end. I think he 'puts on' a lot of his injuries. He likes the distraction.
Only 2 knocked out. Williams should slay tonight.....

Julia Goerges doesn't look to bad in that photo.
Hewitt showed real emotion after winning his game tonight, that win meant alot to him.
Any chance of them updating day one any time soon. ::)
was at the tennis yesterday
best time was when nadal and federer were training on adjacent courts.. you literally could not walk through because of the amount of people stopping to watch :D
wanted to stay for the ivanovic match but it started too late and i saw here training before.. she actually trained after hantuchova so there was a point in time when both of them were on the court.. EYE CANDY TO THE MAX :D :D
didnt watch much actual tennis since it was so hot and none of the courts have adequate shade.. spent most of the day getting freebies or watching the big screen under the shade :D

Good choice Maca, Baghdatis is number 40 something for a reason :P
Oh, and i will NEVER pick an American in my Tennis side again, as much i love their big serving (Roddick, Fish, Isner) they are untrustworthy and too inconsistent.

Lucky I didn't have him, though I did have Stosur thinking after she finally won a slam last year she might break out of her Aus funk. Clearly not.

Sometimes, when things look beyond your reach, and people are saying to stop playing, you just need a little bit of luck to go your way. That is what is happening to Lleyton Hewitt right now, Roddick with a sore left ankle, being unable to run 100% to his backhand.
Scoreline: 3-6 , 6-3 , 4-2 Hewitt up third set, Roddick serving.
geez hewitt almost messed it up
5-4 in third set and almost got broken 0-40
phew he won 6-4
Roddick retired... Hewitt through.

Hewitt is an arrogant prick, every time he loses it's "because" of an injury/the courts are too bouncy/some guy in the crowd wore the wrong shirt/he didn't wear his lucky underwear.
I 51% want him to win, but wouldn't care if he lost anyway.
Wouldn't surprise me if Hewitt beats him...

Kvitova on the other hand, very impressive.

Am still pissed that I forgot Raonic..
I didn't forget Raonic. I just swapped him out for Nadal. Top 25 you only get three picks so there was no room for him in my team . He'll lose to Joker.

He's outside the top 25 guys.
He is 25th so eligible to be picked as 25+... It's not based on seedings.

That's incorrect boomz. It is top 25, then 26+. But they have his ranking as 31 so that is why he is in the 26+ group ;)
Kirilenko retired....Is that why we haven't seen HP today? :P
Hewitt going well atm... Raonic not serving as well as he has before though :-X

Think I have 7 through. I reckon your in strife with Kvitova as captain though Fletch.
I hate Hewitt :-X But I love watching him and rooting for him :P
Clijsters rolled her ankle pretty badly... Was looking like a good match too against Li Na... Hopefully she can play on.
Still is a good match Boomz.
5-5 in the second set.
She saved 5 match points in a row in the tie break and then took the set! Great match.

The life of the captain of my DT was flashing before my eyes.
Same difference :P She won in the end :P
Anyone see the reception Berdych just got after he won? He looked like he was gonna cry lol

Almagro hit it straight at Berdych sometime in the match so Berdych took it to heart and refused to shake hands... Pretty poor... I doubt Almagro was aiming to hurt him or anything it's just part of the sport.
Almagro is known on the circuit as a bit of an arsehole though :P

Lucky Fed is my captain.
applied to be a ballkid AO2013.
3rd time lucky!!!
but honestly i think the system might be rigged in someway. i think that i am way capable enough to be a ballboy, especially having years of experience of tennis and cricket. maybe its cause i wear glasses or cause i have an allergy to nuts... but if i dont make it this final year, im not going to be very happy as i have failed at the final stage both times :(
Have you had any other ballboy experience luigi? Could help if you did it for some other smaller tournaments first ;)
I know each year they pick 2 of the ballboys from the moorilla international (1 boy and 1 girl) to do it at the australian open the following year.

lol they are hardly legit reasons. It wouldnt be that your not capable enough, its just that they're are so many kids who apply every year. they cant pick them all ;)
My mate was a ballkid on Hisense Arena last year :P
had no ballkid experience, but tried out twice as mentioned,
i honestly think having glasses is a legit reason cause tennis australia may be worried about how i would look on the tv screen.... -.-

I've watch a lot of tennis and I can't really remember getting a good look at any ball kid's face... Not good enough to tell whether they have glasses or not.
You don't have to be put on camera if they don't want you to be seen either, they'd just make you like court 15 ballboy, therefore your appearance is 100% irrelevant.
EDIT: However, with glasses there's greater chance of injury, if you get hit @ 200km/hr in the glasses and smash glass all over your face etc. you'd know about it.
Therefore I guess there's an increased risk w/ kids with glasses?
I guess if i dont make it this time, then, what can i say, luck just didn't go my way...
They can't discriminate based on genetics otherwise you can sue.

Does that mean you can sue the air force if you wear glasses because you're not allowed to fly a jet?

I think that applies for actual jobs... not volunteer work which I believe being a ballboy is?
And any company can discriminate as much as they want, provided they don't make obvious the fact they're discriminating. Most companies discriminate, just don't shout out the fact that they do.

Well there has been the point made that if you got hit by a ball it could break your glasses.
I don't know haha
am playing in a tennis tournament tomorrow. wish me luck! :)
Good to see that 7 of the top 8 seeds are still left in the Aus Open, only one missing is Caroline Wozniacki, who is replaced by Kim Clijsters who is the defending champ anyway.

Clearly a top 8 seed ;)
When i said 7 of the top 8, i meant Womens and Mens, not just the womens. So that means Djoker, Rafa, Fed, Murray, Kvitova, Vica, Wozza, and Sharapova.
I'm sorry for not explaining myself very well but that's what i meant.

Gutted that he lost... Muzza's my favourite :(

Theres a lot of bland players Maca24, but he played some fantastic tennis ( Novak's just to good at the moment ) But as PowerBug said, he will learn heaps by that loss you would think. Taking the world no. 1 to 5 sets (7-5 in the 5th) Is a massive improvement froim last years final

Just witnessed one of the greatest matches of all time.
I was well and truely cheering for Nadal, but I have to take my hat off to Novak. To come out and win a game like that 2 days after another grueling 5 setter against Murray, is a true effort of a champion...

Saw the footage a couple of times and i am really annoyed that some people choose to act like little kids, i mean seriously, if you didn't get the "merchandise" from that player or celeb, there is always asking for a photo or asking for an autograph. Also some people must learn that your not the only fan, you have got other people around you as well, so they need to respect that.
