who at your club, maybe someone a little left field, do you believe to be ready to show the world what they've got in 2012 ?? personally at the Bombers I believe Jake Carlisle is going to be something very special ;)
Obviously I see Luke Shuey exploding this year. Matt Rosa as a cheeky little out there one...?
The Swans have a few smokies lying around... Dan Hannebury, Kieran Jack, Rhyce Shaw, Gary Rohan, Matt ( :-[) Spangher could be an impressive scond year cash cow, Sammy Reid will impress (although I'm not so sure he will DT-wise), also McVeigh...

Really liked the way Gary Rowan finished the season, i'll be looking very closely @ him

Spangher isnt in his 2nd year, and if you pick him in your dream team...
...no offence, but you're a Spangher
JLewis, XEllis, CYoung, MBailey, LLowden, RSchoenmakers, MHallahan & AFrank

Probably right with some of these...
Ellis is fighting for a spot in the 22 and has to train the house town in preseason. If he starts next season round 1, good smokie!
Young has been injured for the last 3 seasons, watch his preseason too.
Bailey is a bit too one dimensional for DT, so pass on him.
Lowden is probably developing too slow to play this year. We just recruited 2 more rucks for this reason!
Schoey a bit the same as Ellis, the club wants him in the 22 but just been too inefficient in the backline.
Now Hallahan and Frank is where the money is. Hallahan is a tough in and under midfielder and the mail is he'll be given a chance. He is on my bench.
Frank is another Isaac Smith, someone with pace skills and efficiency, but can he fit in the 22? It will depend on how long they carry Chance Bateman I think?
Matty Broadbent
Jarrad Redden
Brent Renouf
all going to become guns thiss year
What does everyone think of Jack Steven from STK? Is listed as a MID/FWD in fanplanner for $362,100.
Coming into his 4th year (although 1st year only played 1 game) and averaged a healthy 79 from 20 games last year after coming in for the injured Lenny Hayes.
He is young, has now played 29 games and looks to be in St Kilda’s plans for the future. My query is that with Dal Santo and Hayes coming back and with Goddard, Armitage and Montagna still hanging around will there be any room for Steven in their midfield?
If so, I will strongly consider him as a breakout player in my DT team for 2012 (would be picked in the forward line).
Thoughts?
Zaharakis
Ziebell
J Steven
Armstrong
Petrenko
T Walsh
Maybe not leftfield since I had him last year but...Breust! Maybe Duryea or Hallahan if the Hawks give them a run.
Crameri. Will score 40+ goals in 2012.

ISmith is a pure winger...up and down the ground and has some height, when playing the game have you noticed how tall wingers are now?
Amos is too short to play wing, Changa the last few years has played a tagging role in the side because of his great fitness base , understanding of the game and he still has some toe.
I wouldnt think Amos would be a substitute for Changa, I see him to step up when Sizzle goes down, as we all expect but dont want to happen
Hill would be vying for this position also
Theres a few players actually in this situation = good competition = perform or your in the magoos
Bruest
Osborne
Wanganeen
Generally the crumbers in the FWD line/ Half Fwd line if Sizzle goes to the guts or does a fetlock
Hawthorn is swimming in FWDS now Gunston has come over
I know that no one will be considering him, but Pearce Hanley from Brisbane. A defender who averaged 80 last year after 22 games and only 34 games in his career. Now thats a true smokey!
Sssshhhh chatters - don't let the Lion out of the bag - keep him on the DL
Dont worry matty, its a long way until the start of the season! The average person on here will make another 638 changes to their team before the first bounce of the season!
Nice stat chatters ;) Hanley is just on the outer of my team but could be in come round 1...
No worries El!!

yeh, these were the sort of smokies i was fishing for, thanks chatters - food for thought.
Also, one could look at Jed Adcock - he was on my 'never again' list after his injury prone-ness and inconsistencies were exposed this season...
But upon closer inspection it seems that he may not be a bad pickup again... Allow me to explain.
He only missed 2 games the whole season, despite fighting a hand injury in the middle of the year.
From round 10-17 his scores dropped by an average of around 30 - but can most likely be attributed to his hand injury and also the loss of Merrett in the backline required him to play down back and more shutdown roles as opposed to the half back flank role he excels in.
If he is fully fit by rnd one I think he could average 95+ with the recruitment of Docherty in the backline and with Merrett and Lisle in the team.
Thoughts?
Holding onto my ultimate smoky for myself. ;)
adcock was playing with a broken hand for like 4 weeks :P
I considered adcock but then went with a took and spent the dough on my midfield.

now with only 2 weeks to go before the nab cup starts (can't wait) I would't mind giving this topic another airing to see if the pre season has unearthed any "smokies" to watch out for. As the Bombers training season have all been closed, i'm hearing everything second & third hand, so nothing to add from the there.
How about Harry OBrien taking over some of the running back role post Neon Leon.

could b takin by marty clarke
If any argument Harry O will win
Im not sure i will have the balls to select them but there are a few that im thinking could smoulder into an inferno.
I Smith. (The next Fyfe IMO)
Zac Clarke. (Pav will allow this guy some serious space, and his first stride will leave defenders in his wake)
Nic Nat. (When he becomes magnetically charged he will explode. It's going to happen sooner or later)
All damn good calls bro.
Nic Nat has had pre-season surgery so I'd watch that one.
Other two look the goods though. So tempted on I. Smith but not as a mid unfortunately :(
David Swallow has been tearing the house down apparentely and gc have already pinned him and ablett as two best mids
mmmmm... tempting but will he average 90+
i like Mccarthy after coming to port i think he'll earn a midfield sport. Reece Conca should really improve through the midfield, and Brodie Martin could be set for a breakout season at half back
Don't have him but Zac Clarke is gonna carve up this year!

agree with isaac smith massive smokey - would not be surprised to see him explode this season into a 100+ average
