Question:
Is he still in your midfield next year?
Option 1: Yeah Mate

Option 2: Nah Mate

Now I, like thousands of other dt coaches, have Scotty Pendles well and truly locked in. However, does the fact Scott has only signed a 12 month contract with the pies and with GWS going after his brother make pendles a not so viable option as a premium midfielder next year?
There are many other options around his price...
Am I over thinking this? Cheers.
worry about 2013 when we get to the end of 2012
I think he means
'see palmer this year'
Yeah that's what I mean. Buckley obviously has massive commitment to the club and he's poured his heart and soul into the pies (cough yuck) so he's not going to want players in the 22 that aren't playing for the club week in week out.
I can't see pendles not giving every game his all regardless.
The pies are going to be vying for a premiership. I think they need pendles for that.
even for premiums i want value, would rather ablett and selwood i see more upside in them.
Yeah that's is holz. Rockliffe and jelwood has more upside.
Pendles will dominate (barring injury) regardless of GWS talk. Unlike Ablett and Scully, I don't think it will drag out as long. Pies managed to sign all of O'Brien, Thomas, Swan, Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Reid and Dawes from the GWS last year, and Cloke turned down a massive offer from the Bombers the year before, and all relatively quickly. I doubt they'll let this hang over there heads.
Okay, thanks Oss.
That could just be me being hopeful :)
Yeah it's tough to tell. Can't really see the future but I think if GWS sign his bro he may have a chance.

Problem is, if Pendles does want to move on (like Ablett and Scully), the Pies won't be able to sign him quickly because he won't be signing at all. That will leave a lot of speculation hanging over him and the team.
As you said, Pies managed to sign everyone once, so if they can't manage to sign Pendles this time, it'll surely make the rumours even worse?
I never thought about it affecting his game but I'm almost worried now...

Palmer was played out of position. No-one actually knows if this was because Rhys had already agreed to terms with GWS.
yeah I know, I don't think we'll see a similar issue with pendles- the gulf between their skills is too great.
and it's always reassuring to hear that was why he flopped, not just the general 'HE'S shower!' :P
The thing is, it's either Swan or Pendlebury, and deep down in everyone's heart, it's Swan. If you have both of them, one might fire and the other might not (although they both usually do). The tendency of the coach is to rest his two guns, like the last round.
Swan over Pendlebury at this stage just because Swan can have really, really huge games
actually, so can Pendlebury ....
I dunno toss a coin or something ;)
I'm still lost. I think I'm happy with him now as I've managed to squeeze in Jelwood into my mids.
I feel that pendlebury has a higher ceiling than Swan
Although he can get lost for some quarters (counting 4-5 disposals lost :P)
Yeah I was gonna say, pendles lost not lost lost. :P
Someone has to be an upgrade target for round 13 and I think Pendles is mine
Swan, Rockliff, Ablett, Zaharakis locked and loaded. No room for Pendles, may be an upgrade target.
Managed to fit in pendles but leaves me with a stacked midfield...
Swan, Pendles, Gazza, Jelwood, Robinson, T. Mitchell
(Shiel, Bugg)
elephants, you might need to revise that one, how do you plan to survive round 12? with only GAJ, robinson, shiel and bugg (assuming they are in the team that week!!)
downgrade mitchell, and trade swan/ pendles (whoever is doing worse)? :P
Something like what zip said coupled with mpp swithcheroos.
Are you worried about Bucks not playing him if he signs? I wouldn't worry about it, pendles would have to be close to first locked in. It will sit in the back of your mind becuase of what Neil Craig did with Bock but the difference between good dters and average dters is sticking to your gut decision and playing the percentages. There is probs around a 90% chance Pendles will be at Collingwood next year so play that percentage.
I think he only has a 12 month contract because of salary cap issues at the pies. When you have Dawes and Cloke demanding more than what the PA footy club is worth there are going to be issues. Thats why Neon Leon left. Had nothing to do with family, he got a pay cut then got the showers up. They will work something out with Pendles. Saying taht GWS will be kncoking on the door hard and can use his brother as bargaining power.
woooah I wouldn't say 90% at the pies, I reckon it's more of a 50/50 split :P
but yeah, Pendles isn't a player like palmer, or bock who can just be passed over on spite... if they want a decent chance to win the gf this year, they need pendles, you're not going to drop a top 5 player in the comp out of spite.
If DT, definitely Swan for me
If SC, then Swan or Pendles are a closer match
Having said that I'm thinking of not getting either in SC but maybe Swan in DT, but then again, I'm scared as I don't want to be punished...
LOL decisions decisions
Yeah this is for DT impromptu.

Might give Pendles a miss, but nothing wrong with those picking Pendles..
Yeah pendles hurt me last as I didn't have him at all. Might get Rockliffe instead as his bye is easier to deal with.
