Hello everyone.

Would just like to take a moment to formally apologise to Os, Pyro, c4 and the rest of the WXV community for my absence this season. I could give a handful of excuses as to why I've been gone, but ultimately none of them would make up for the fact that I didn't offer Os or Pyro a warning of any kind.

I have spoken with Pyro and he has agreed to (if the rest of the community permits) proceed into 2013 as co-coaches.

In a monster 3-way trade sealed just 3 hours after the window opened, New York has already won the services of 3 superstars this off-season.

The deal, involving the Islanders, the Samurai and the Eagles will see young stars Trent Mackenzie (M), Ayce Cordy (R) and Travis Cloke (F) head to the US for the 2013 WXV season.

In order to land the trio New York sacrificed 4 of their selections in the national draft along with promising prospects in Nick O'Brien and Alex Fasolo.

Quote"It is certainly unfortunate that we've lost Alex & Nick, they're both very talented young men. We couldn't give them the opportunities that they wanted in our team, but hopefully they can enjoy success elsewhere"
- Co-coach Sid.

The trade is currently pending approval from the WXV community, which means that contract talks have currently been put on hold with the trio.

New York struck an enormous deal with Mosco earlier today, which will see team captain Nathan Fyfe along with 20 year-old forward Jack Darling head to Russia for the 2013 season. In return, the Eagles will receive Tom Liberatore, Ryan Bastinac and Allen Christensen.

The deal was not received well by fans, with many doubting whether the hole left by Nathan Fyfe has been filled by any of the new Eagles.

Quote
This is stupid. There goes our best player along with any hope we had of making he 8 next year...
- Fyfey7

Despite the outrage, Pyronerd and Sid remained confident they had made the right move when questioned at a press conference earlier today.

QuoteWhile it's certainly disappointing to have lost the services of Nathan and Jack, we are positive about the futures of Tom, Allen and Ryan. We believe that the key to success in the future is to have the best midfield, and adding these fellas to our midfield group has us feeling really good about the future of New York.
- Sid

Tom Liberatore is rumored to have already put the pen to a lucrative four year deal, however New York refused to confirm anything until the trade is approved by the WXV community.

A highly credible inside source from the New York Eagles informed us that Stefan Martin, Michael Rischitelli, Bernie Vince and John McCarthy didn't board the plane heading back home to Australia with the rest of the team this morning.
Each of the players are out of contract at the moment, and it is currently rumoured that they have each requested to be traded this off-season.

It was suggested to us that Vince's relationship the head coaches at New York became particularly volatile after his negative comments towards fantasy football during the season.

When asked about the rumours all that co-coach Sid would offer was the following quote:
Quote
We will not make any comments about the availabilities of specific players. We have already expressed our willingness to trade, I think our trades thus far have proven that. We're happy to field offers on any players on our list, but won't show our hand just yet.

New York midfielder Ryan Bastinac is expected to announce he will be moving clubs for the second time this trade period later this week. After moving from Moscow to New York during the first window of the 2012 trade period, Bastinac is rumoured to have come to blows with the Eagles management over his contract.

It is believed that the manager of the midfielder was expecting in excess of 500,000 a year on a 6 year contract.

The club made a formal reply to the rumours this morning.

Quote
It is true that we have failed to come to an agreement of Ryan's contract at this point. His management currently want more money than we are willing to commit to one player at the moment.
While we do have a substantial amount of room left in our cap, we are currently in the middle of negotiations with over a dozen players and are not willing to offer that kind of money to anybody until we have a better idea of each players asking price. We are still hopeful that we will be able to sign him prior to this trade period ending, however it's our understanding he has already spoken with as many as 3 other clubs.

This morning New York issued a press release stating that they would be donning a different look for the 2013 season. This new look appears to be a dramatic overhaul of the branding of the club. Their team name has changed to 'New York Revolution' along with a shiny new mascot, guernseys, logo and promotional posters.
The change is certain to ignite a debate, with several fans seemingly divided on whether or not the change is for the best.

Great stuff :)

Just noting that name changes shouldn't be made lightly, and shouldn't be ridicolous.

The Revs are fine with me!

Sid and I talked, and said the name change is condition it remains the name for 2 seasons (2013 and 2014) at least.

Think that should be applied for everyone.

New York has made yet another brave move this trade period, this time offloading a substantial part of their midfield group.

The Revolution will receive Harley Bennell, Simon Hogan and Hayden Crozier in return for Ryan Bastinac, Bernie Vince, Michael Rischitelli and Lewis Johnston. The trade significantly bolsters the New york forward line, with Harley becoming their new F1 and Crozier providing fantastic depth.

However with the departure of the 2 most senior players from the midfield group, questions are arising as to whether all these list movements are going to have an affect on the bonds of the players at the club. Will all these drastic movements unsettle the playing group? A third of the best XV has been changed already this trade period, and there are sure to be more to come.

Quote
We're not worried at all, we're looking to build a strong list that we can retain for several seasons to come. This is a transition period for New York so there are going to be lots of changes at the club.

The reserves team for the New York Revolution has finally been given a face. After seeing out the 2012 season as simply 'New York Seconds' the main men at New York felt it was time for their reserves to be branded following the rebranding of the main side.

So I'm pleased to present:

Washington Rebellion

The excitement was apparent among those present, with the Rebellion being well placed to do well in 2013.

Sid: Obviously New York is situated in the Eastern part of the US and we felt like this was a brilliant opportunity to make ties over West.
We're extremely excited to further develop our supporter base, we feel like there is a lot of untapped potential here for us and giving more people an opportunity to see some of our youngest and most exciting talent is a big positive coming out of this

Reporter: Are you worried that having such a gulf between the seconds and the firsts will make it more difficult for players to transition smoothly in the senior side?

Sid: The whole senior squad will continue to train together as a solitary group, with the major change to the setup being that the reserves will be playing their games in Washington now.

A bunch of trades squeezed in before this period ended saw the following list changes for New York:

OUT: Dean Cox, #75

IN: Jonathan Giles, Josh Jenkins

These trades added a lot of depth to our ruck division, previously we relied heavily on Cox and this leaves us with quite a few options in the ruck.
It's sad to see Dean leave but looking forward we think this is the best move for us.

New York has added one of the finest coaches in the nation to it's ranks this morning, with JROO8 coming on as an assistant for the club.

JROO has signed agreed to act as an advisor to co-coaches Pyronerd and Sid for the 2013 season.

Quote
We're very happy to have brought Jroo into the team, we have been impressed by his knowledge and work ethic in the past and we're confident having him join the staff here in New York will provide and extra edge in the 2013 season.

Jroo was one of the highest ranked SuperCoaches for 2012, finishing in the top .1% in the world, we're hoping adding Jroo to the team can help New York get into that elite bracket.

The Bangladesh Bears (AXV) and New York Revolution have agreed to an allegiance for the 2013 season.

Quote
We're extremely excited to work with the Bears this year, and (hopefully) in future seasons. The Bears are looking to emerge aldn't avoid as one of the strongest teams in all of the XVs and we couldn't avoid aligning with such a well managed team.
- NYR Co-coach, Sid.

QuoteThat is awesome, Love the Revs! 8)
- Bears Coach, Adamant.

After the betrayal of the UAE Tigers this is will prove an important development for the NYR membership drive.

No changes to the team (apart from Libba back to C), but Crozier and Lee force their way into the emergencies. After the Watters presser I reckon Lee is a good chance to get a go this week...

Unlikely that I will be able to do reviews or make scoreboards until after round 5. :(

I could write a review but suspect doing that on a phone would be....difficult.

After crumbling under the pressure of the captaincy, Tom Liberatore returned to form against the Magpies this week. Got 16 hard ball gets, only player to best that this century is some bloke named Chris Judd. 8)

Matthew 'Biscuit' Arnot will be making his debut for the Washington Rebellion this weekend.

QuoteWe've been waiting a long time for this one, and given the wavering form of our midfield he may be in line for a senior call-up in the near future.

Tom Ledger finally getting a game, even if it is as the sub...Has a lot of talent, not sure why he doesn't play more often. Hopefully he can solidify his spot in the team.

I can second this, the bloke is a gun! Shocked he hasn't been giving more of a go especially with Watters coming from WA!?

Yeah it's really, really weird. I know a lot of St Kilda fans (and neutrals for that matter) that have been wanting him in the seniors for some time now.
He's a genuinely good midfielder, and with their reliance on the old fellas you would think they would be keen to develop young midfield talent. Has pace as well, something their midfield lacks (Dal Santo, Montagna, Hayes, slow slow slow.)

It is a great honour that today I have been appointed the Coach of the New York Revolution. We have an exciting young list which has potential to be a finals contender in future years. There were some great candidates for this side and to be honest it is a surprise that I was selected ahead of Nrich, Sid and Phasir..

On behalf of the New York Revolution we would like to thank Pyronerd and Sid for their tireless work over the last few seasons and I hope that I can continue to coach the Revolution in your spirit.

Our list is injury hit, but we have a lot of potential and I am looking forward to the challenge which this coaching role presents.

Treloar has 26 points and Hoskin-Elliott 1 = 27
Traded them for Dys Heppell who has 23 (in mine, same system) and pick 10
That's a fairly dead-even trade imo :3 might nudge ahead though as we got a dons player!
