Farewell
Leigh Brown
(http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2009/09/12/1225772/269999-leigh-brown.jpg)
The first of Collingwood's Premiership Players to depart, quite an achievement a year after the event. One of only two players to play 50 games for 3 different clubs, and changed the way people saw the 2nd ruck role. Subject of many a ridicule during his time at Freo and North, but will be known as a 200 gamer, Premiership Player.
Welcome
Marty Clarke
Well, welcome back is more accurate for Marty Clarke!
The irish star was on-and-off in his previous stint at Collingwood, but with Ben Johnson and Leon Davis reaching the end of their careers, Marty Clarke could find a home in this line up. Pies must think he is worth it having given away their top pick (again) for him. But the Pies know how to select players, after getting Alex Fasolo in a bargain pick.
Jamie Elliott
(http://mm.afl.com.au/Portals/0/elliott_jamiex.jpg)
Some nice highlights here (http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=104427) of little known player Jamie Elliott. The sweetener in the GWS Marty Clarke deal. Pies have a history of turning small forwards into stars, and here's hoping that trend continues.
I love Elliot's forward pressure in those clips, we can never have enough of that.
We can also officially welcome Jarrod Witts into the fold after he was elevated to the senior list which is a great sign for the huge man.
Welcome
Peter Yagmoor

Highlights (http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=123410)
Interesting left field selection. Here's hoping he turns out great :)
always good to see the word CONSISTENT, plus pace and tackling , nice pickup
Elliot's pressure is great in those clips.
Is it just me, or does Yagmoor look really slow in the first half of his clips?

+1 just rewatched was slow ,but good tackling
Collingwood seems to develop young guns nicely when selected. Lachie Keeffe is another who went to Collingwood from Qld after only playing AFL for a couple of years and he is now knocking on the door, not quite there yet.
Welcome
Jarrod Witts and Michael Hartley
NSW Scholarship players entering our list. Witts particularly is MASSIVE at 209cm and 115kg. Need a Jolly replacement

Cailin Mooney
The AFL needs a Mooney. And an Irish one at that! Know next to nothing about him though
Witts looks like a beast!
Can Hartley kick the ball? I'm not sure, there was not one highlight of a drop punt. Good hands though haha
You can add Leon Davis to the goings! Yes, Leon Davis has walked out on the Pies.
Just saw it on 7 News.
Really? Did he retire?
I thought he had a little left in him...

Yeah he'll probably go back to WA, dunno if he'll keep playing though it wouldn't surprise me if he went to a WAFL team
:(
4 grand finals, 0 wins

Sigh.
Should be able to keep Macaffer and McCarthy
It is very disappointing, his use of the ball and his calmness is decision making was amazing last year. Between Leigh Brown and Leon Davis' departures it looks like Bucks is going to have to significantly change or evolve the game plan. Be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Another coming. How will Harvs work with Bucks? With Davis leaving will Didak be converted to this role next year!!!
Players are funny when it comes to pay (well, everyone is I guess not just footballers)
Leon's logic being that he shouldn't get a pay cut because he had a great 2011. By that logic he should give some of the money he earned in his relatively poor 2010 season back to the club.
Some delistings....
Injury cursed....
Brad Dick

John McCarthy

And a couple of players who never played a match...
Daniel Farmer

Trent Stubbs

Jarrod Witts will become a star. Great pickup by Collingwood.
Disappointing for Brad Dick, his body just never gave him a chance to show off his talent over a sustained period.
I see the AFL have given permission for Brad Dick to train with Collingwood. He may not be quite done yet.

Done and dusted now :(

The thing that annoys me most is that Davis and Dick would have had some currency on the market, now we lose them for nothing. Not to mention the fact we've paid for Marty Clarke twice now.
welcome JACKSON PAINE
Wearing the #35 this year for us... A small forward! Whoda funk

Absolute steal great pick, you should be very pleased.
Indeed. Collingwood selectors strike again I hope...
Another ruckmen?? Jolly, Wood, Ceglar, McNamara, Witts and...
COREY GAULT

Paine = Absolute Bargain.

Maybe not so small at 194 ossie.
Fair point!

Looks like Corey already has some experience with the number 35!!!
Everyone seems to be saying Jackson Paine was a steal, anyone know why?

Big kid with decent legspeed and a pretty good kick as well.
Should have gone well before pick 50, I was expecting him to be pick 35 or lower.
But hey, there were a lot of surprises this draft...lots and lots of sliders.

It is such a shame about Brad Dick. He would be an awesome Small FF if only his body would hold up to play consistent senior level footy.
Interesting that today West Coast picked him up. I wish him well but it would be a huge blow if he got his body up and running to the form we know he can produce!

Indeed, could be a bargain. If they want to move LeCras to the midfield, Dick could be key to that...
Also welcome....
Lachlan Smithand
Marley WilliamsSmith and Williams? Little boring.
And Welcome Back (very briefly gone)
Trent Stubbsand
Daniel Farmer
Lachlan Smith may be a boring name but he can hold his own in the VFL for maggies and did a very decent job defending for the MB.

Well they scored Mick gave our assistant coach a huge wrap so that's good for the saints but this guy is good for us, great pick up for a mids coach if you ask me, and a lot of experience bucks will likely need, same with eade but i'm not sold on him...
The departure of Dick to join Cox at WC won't make a vas deferens. Goldsack should step up, Ball will continue to get it out thanks to the help of Jolly, and Seedsman could add a new dimension to the team. Johnson has a year left in him and will finish things off nicely, and there is always the option of adding Sidebottom to the mix for a bit of unpredictability.

+1
How long did that take you nicely written and with such class ;D
The rookies all look so bloody little (in size not height) in comparison to the big boys!
That was all Willy Willy funny
Do people really think Clarke is in the best 22? I'm not so sure

Seems natural for him to fill the Neon Leon void!

Ah, but is it? Simon Buckley might be further ahead in development... or a couple of youngsters. He could very well not be named round 1.
I agree. I hope the Marty Clarke return is a successful one but he was always a long way off from Leon's classy disposal skills and decision making. The latter was amazing last year and will be missed. Of course it is unfair to compare Leon who I presume played Aussie rules from a very very young age against late-adaptor Irish Clarke.
It is a big chance for Buckley although I think he playes more the Ben Johnson game of long pentrating kicks over the zones rather then setting up Daisy, Shaw and Swan like Leon did who tend to run the ball a lot.
Don't you people remember Clarke? He was a very good kick.
Yeah and from all reports his fitness level is phenomenal, but I do agree that he and Buckley could be rotated through the position. Bit disappointing if he isn't named in round 1, as it will mean a HUGE re-structure of just about 50% of SC teams.

He was a good kick indeed but not in the top 3 or 4 in the team which is kind of what this 'quarter back' style of position requires. I hope he gets it and nails it, I always really liked him.
nobody has mentioned it so i thought i had better let you all know the most important thing gone from collingwood;

Doubtful. From memory there was a fair bit of cheating involved so it's been a few years! Haha!
I love how CFC provided the 4000th post on the Collingwood board, a milestone no other club has. Once again it helps to have the Blues around to make the Pirs look good. Cheers CFC. ;)
