Title: 2010 mock draft without Gold Coast
Post by: Jugganauts on October 02, 2011, 07:52:04 PM
First of i didnt know really where to put this topic but hopefully it can be moved to the right section. Just thought i would play around with last years draft if Gold Coast never entered the competition. Which Gold Coast players would of found there way to your club. I will be giving the reason of why i think that player would of gone to the club.

Pick 1. West Coast - David Swallow. No suprise he David Swallow was the best player in the draft and will be a gun. Would be a perfect fit for the young West Coast midfield

Pick 2. Brisbane Lions - Dyson Heppel. Skillfull mover and brilliant kick. Will control the half back line

Pick 3. Richmond - Zac Smith.  Would command the #1 ruck role and hold it for 10 years, The answer to Richmonds ruck woes

Pick 4. Essendon - Sam Day. Finally Essendon can replace the big losses in Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas, Can now forget about Neagal and Gumbleton

Pick 5. Melbourne - Andrew Gaff. Can run all day and his disposal effiency is brilliant smart player around stoppages.

Pick 6. Adelaide - Reece Conca. Perfectly placed for Adelaide smart midfielder who can kick goals.

Pick 7. Port Adelaide - Daniel Gorringe. Needs a new ruckman with Brogan on his last legs, Has the ability to play like a midfielder.

Pick 8. North Melbourne - Luke Mitchell. In Desperate need for a new Full Forward. Mitchell fits the role perfectly.

Pick 9. Carlton - Jack Darling. Superb pick up and would be praying he falls this far will make the fans forget about Fevola

Pick 10. Hawthorn - Harley Bennell. Bennell is a intelligent quick player would could win a game of his own boot. Sounds like a bloke you may of heard goes by the name of Cyril Rioli

Pick 11. Fremantle - Jarred Polec. If Polec is availble Freo will not hesitate to pick him up. Commands the ball in the centre and knows how to use it.

Pick 12. Sydney - Matthew Watson. Bolton on his last legs. Could struggle to get a permant spot in the best 22 with Grundy, LRT and Richards there but when giving time will explode huge, kick on him.

Pick 13. Western Bulldogs - Mitch Wallis. Father/Son pick up would of slipped top 5.

Pick 14. Geelong - Josh Caddy. Clever midfielder who can slip forward knows where the goals are and knows how to kick them.

Pick 15. Collingwood - Jayden Pitt. Clever player around goals and in the midfield, After a few pre seasons in the gym bulking up could be a new Allan Didak.

Pick 16. St Kilda - Scott Lycett. Gardiner on his last legs, Koschitzke can't play ruck, Would help McEvoy out and also can sneak up forward for a goal or 2.

Would be intersted to here your thoughts on my mock draft

Cheers mate i got a few more ideas one including my own trade week and a before and after mock draft. Might also do a in depth player reviews from each club but thats highly unlikely at this point as that would take forever  ::)

Luke Mitchell is a promising key forward having dominated the under 18 comp strong hands and a big kick. Carlton were really happy picking with pick 42.

Heppell had a great debut season and will have a great career, If Voss was really smart he would of picked him up, Lucky to get to Essendon. But Day is a gun if he sticks with AFL and doesnt give up to play basketball he will have a brilliant career ahead of him and in this mock draft Heppell went top 2

Port do need some midfielders maybe if i were to re-do this mock draft Polec might find his way down Port way. Me being the Fan Footys list manager i would like to see them lock in a ruckman and get more game time in the likes of Broadbent, Banner and Matt Thomas

i know a little about mitchell but we could of picked him up but didnt so i doubt he would have been picked up if there was no GC. I think more likely would get a guy like caddy or polec
