Option 3: maybe votes: 5
Title: Jack Watts
Post by: maccar86 on September 15, 2011, 06:57:24 AM
will anyone be looking at him this year as maybe their 7th forward/mid pricer?

im not sure of his price, but i thought he looked pretty solid this year. struggled a bit because melbourne were terrible but when they were competitive i really rated him.

big improvement from his first year and if he has a similar improvement from his second year to third i really think he is a viable option.

anyone else?

he will be a little expensive about 330k but he will still be on my radar.

If he puts on a bit more muscle could be a big chance...next year's NAB cup will tell us alot but, yes, definately on the radar.

it all relies on how melbourne look like they are travelling, if they are looking like a top 8 team he could average 90+ easy

I think 2013 personally, unless melb look like they're seriously shaping up

im more interested with Sam Reid

You'd have to look at him agreed but for me it will depend on his NAB Cup form and the Dee's form. His price is just a little expensive for me to say yes with 100% confidence in what return i'll get from him. I too like the look of Sam Ried and will be watching this guy very closely through the pre season and NAB Cup.

So surely the no 1 draft pick is going to show some more this year?

he got a few good scores last yr and with clark at ff now could make some solid points on wing into chf (ala richo a few years back) anyone got any opinion on him this yr? or similarly priced alternatives?

Pretty good call you have made he is someone who could really take the next step and if he does he would be a great pick up as not many will take the risk.

I rate him, not HUGELY, but high enough... with clarke taking off some pressure, allowing someone like green to move a mid closer to the mid to deliver the ball, I think we'll see his scores jump up a fair bit. TBH, I think 90+. I can't quite justify him though, because
a) he plays for melbourne
b) the plethora of dpp talent available already at near premium levels.

At $359K I think he slides in below the cost of a lot of "better" options but still agree with Zip he is a hard guy to pick being a Demon. Clark will help him more than any other but he still needs ball and opportunities to score really well.

What really turns me off is this, and if anyone can explain why the inconsistancy and what migh change maybe i'll look more closely at him, but on the back of 2011 he is a firm no for me.

Jack spends almost as much time at the Sandringham Hotel as I do. Not sure that I've ever been in there and not seen him.

his a young developing KP forward?

its not the inconsistency that's weird, it's who it's against that's flowered

104- stk
106- freo
104- carlton

48-Brisbane
39- GC
48- PTA

what type of flowering forward scores his three highest scores vsing top 8 teams, and 3 lowest vsing the bottom 3????

*note* cant actually remember specifically where brisbane finished, but it was bottom 5 for sure :P

Will be an absolute star. Just a matter of picking when. In the same boat as Dangerfield.

Well I'm hoping for my Euros sake :P I think he has shown with a few of his numbers that he can really rack up when pushed up the ground. This will be more evident as he becomes more mature. Also recruiting Mitch Clark helps too :)

Does Mitch Clark hurt his scoring though maybe next year?? Clark will be the main target and Watts may need some time to adjust

Possibly but i see the reverse effect. I don't think that Watts was the main target anyway, more Jurrah. Watts should moved on the the HFF and then up onto a wing imo.

elephants is right

with the bigger body of Mitch Clarke in the goal square Watts shouldn't be getting the number 1 backman every week

also with his athleticism should produce more marks and tackles (im not sure he will score a heap more goals)

thats prolly the problem with pickin him in dt it was only glimpses so will prolly wait a yr or two till he's had a chance 2 show he's more consistant
nd i still rememba his first game against the pies and maxwell came to the wing to smash him in a tackle when he had his 1st touch haha funny times

He scored the 39 v Gold Coast because he was the sub. The other games I'm not sure what happened, but it's his poor finish to the season which counts against him. did Melbourne just have nothing to play for by then? Perhaps, but it'd take a huge NAB Cup showing for him to come into starting consideration at $359k. Prefer christensen or J-Brown.
Title: Jackky Watts
Post by: BIGCOLSYLVIA on February 05, 2012, 08:34:23 AM
Surely Jack has to be under consideration, last year was effictively a brake out year considering how bad his dt scores were at the start of the year. He is likely to push his average even higher was some support for him in the forward line, plus another big pre-season for Jack.
Right now i dont have him in my team, but he good be a really good pick this year?
Anyone agree and reckon he is worth the risk?
