I'm with most people here with getting the RedRock (maybe include a Berger with that) combo next year. But here are some of the players I'll keep a close eye on during the pre-season for next year's DT:
- Tom Rockliff
- Jack Redden
- Matthew Leuenberger
- Robbie Gray
- Andrew Gaff
- Michael Barlow
- Lenny Hayes
- Nic Naitanui
- Danny Stanley
- Dyson Heppell
- Nat Fyfe
- Hamish McIntosh
- Scott Thompson
and many more........
Post some of your players to watch out for
Cheap Joel Selwood :)
Cheap Lenny Hayes :)
Andrew Carrots
Brain Lake
Alan Didiak
Hamish Hartlett
Good topic, I've been mostly considering players who'll be in their second year. I've been doing DT for 2 years now, and I haven't seen much evidence for what people call the "2nd year blues". It'd be nice to spot players who will do a Nat Fyfe in their 2nd year
One key ingredient is that they need to have demonstrated a high ceiling. For that matter I've flagged Mzungu and Gaff as prime candidates. Shuey is also looking like a great choice. He wont get the discount like the other two though.
I wish we'd seen more of that Jason Tutt though, he impressed...
I might even go Nahas again next year...
Brian Lake (MUST HAVE)
Jonathan Brown (MUST HAVE)
Michael Barlow
Hamish Mcintosh
Josh Drummond (SC)
Lenny Hayes
Alan Didak
Jason Tutt

Disagree.
Drummo will get injured.
Brown is getting on and with the production of new targets (Karnezis, Banfield, McGrath) while he's been out less emphasis will be on JB.
Brian Lake is 30 something and seemingly not fit enough to play at AFL level. One good season doesn't deem you a "must have" and the dogs have changed their playing style anyway.

are you forgetting they'll be fairly cheap.
This is just me but i'd rather pick up a high draft pick say 120k than a thirty year old Brian Lake 180k.
Also i don't planning on giving away trades during the year because Drummo is injured.
Browny is probably actually a bit of a lock.
Just don't agree on Drummo and Lake ;)
Jack Ziebell

as a midfielder?u would do that?
if he as dpp fwd/mid then yeah but not if straight midfield. i was thinking of him but yeah dont no
Luke Shuey, Shane Savage as mid priced Mids
Callinan to be near rookie priced
Could Callan Ward average ~100 at GWS next season?
Will he get a key midfield role? I picked him this year as a mid pricer, didn't quite work this year... He'll be fairly expensive next year but if he gets a key role playing for GWS... hmm...
surely daniel talia will be on everyones radar.
Phill davis?
3 games this year so gets a discount. 1 was 90, 1 was < 10 because he got injured. Will play every game for GWS baring injuring

Why not?
I see him as a very similar player and situation as Rockliff this year. I took a punt on him at the start of the year and couldn't have been happier. Beams is well and truly on my radar for 2012.

im thinking he could be a good forward rookie, but with probably only 2 bench spots we have to be more careful now.
I have a sneaky statistical plan to figure out who to pick up next year ;) Will keep it under wraps though, soz guys :P
Liam anthony, esp. if he changes clubs?
liam anthony is a gun and i recon north would have made the finals if he played.
he was sub 3-4 times in a row.
and please naive north supporters dont give me the match fitness argument. he cant possibly get match fit by playing 4 half games in a row in the seniors. if thats why he didnt play then he should have played 2-3 full games in the reserves and then came back into the seniors.
he is easily in norths best 22, if not almost every team in the afls best 22.
needless to say, he is under high consideration for my team

not sure which North supporters you talk to but guys like RooBoys, NMF and I say he is struggling to make the team due to our midfield depth. Swallow, Wells, Bastinac and Ziebell are our core mid. Than there are guys like atley, adams, harper, cunnington, anthony gunning for the last reamaining spots and probably more im just doing it off my head. I really like Anthony but the other guys are probably beter uses of the ball to him. For DT purposes you should hope he goes to GWS than he should be a DT lock. So to answer your response he is easily in the roos top 22 players however im not sure if he fits into their structure what ghe really needs to be is in the top 6-7 mids. Sure he is better than some of our forwards but he cant play forward so he needs to be better than atley, harper, cunnington and im not sure if he is in the ling term plans like these guys are.
