Into photgraphy? if u have snapped a funny shot or have seen one not yours floating around on the net or u feel is worth sharing this is the spot to do it.
Its been a passion of mine for about 5years now and i love how images can stimulate conversations so i thought id start a thread to see if it would take off...

This a photo of mine of The Sir Donald Bradman Statue in the gardens surrounding the Adelaide Oval.
That is very good Marcz :) Is that building actually in line with the statue or did you use layering?
thanks Alex :) its as shot besides putting my name on it and minor contrast adjustment... St Peters Cathedral i believe r the buildings in the background i shot the image with a 45-150mm lens so i wasnt as close as it seems and also why i was able to get the massive depth of field F18 4seconds ISO 100 if u no ur manual settings ;)
I don't think I understood one word of that. :P
Me neither :P But it looks good!
Fantastic Marcz 8)
St Peters is right mate and across the road from that was where my daughter was born the day before Port won the flag in 2004. The doc was a Power fan and booked us in just to make sure she/he didn't want to come out on GF day :)
Also across from that is the Cathedral Hotel where I spent my 21st ::)
Here is a photo I took of rnd 18 Carlton v Collingwood at the MCG, not as stylish as your fine work but what a day!
I can pinpoint exactly where I was sitting on Boxing Day ;D would be almost right behind the goals at the great Southern Stand end.
I also like the look the guy in the bottom left Is giving the camera :P
That's my mate, and the guy two up from him looking towards me with the red cap and sunnies is also one of the touring party.
My mate actually bought that Aussie Cricket cap from the MCG shop that day.
It was a big weekend and even before I left Adelaide airport I was a very thirsty Rooster :D

Haha interesting time to buy a cricket cap, in the middle of footy season :P lol
Nice pic :D
:o wow nice Mc i havent been to the G since i was 9 and Blues Pies match very envious... although i dont think we were competitive against them at all last year :'( must get back soon tho im hoping to go to a Bombers Blues game with one of my uncles who is a Bomber supporter its on the bucket list anyway :) not sure that beer is big enuf for lil Mc he looks thirsty :P im sure ur daughter was even more adament than he not to come out that day ;)
RB he was one of two Power supporters amongst us and a big cricket fan (we had 3 Crow, one Carlton and 2 Power) -Port had the only win that weekend back in Adelaide against the Hawks :'(
Marcz unfortunately for you and one of our guys, you weren't competitive on the day. Didak's goal from 60 we had a great line behind it, couldn't believe it.
I've just been searching through Priscilla's folders for our favourite shot taken at Newman Ranges up in the Pilbara, WA - here it us ;)
See Australia people, there's alot of it out there ;)
that is a beauty Mc the colors and contours r unbelievable ive seen a few images of that area before and it is amazing to say the least i definitely want to go there someday did it take u long to get to this spot and was it a tour?
i have several secluded little spots of coast i frequent that r ancient in feel and give me an amazing sense of mortality when i go...
this is one in particular the first time i went there i felt some sort of strange connection as if it wasnt the first time at all i had been there... i still go back atleast once a year for some peace and rejuvenation :)
Stunning Marcz, very deep.
With Mother and Father in law who are grey nomads and have been all over, great tour guides themselves. It took obviously a long time to drive there but was easily accessible, and they say don't look down :o......
Same spot!
wow :o i like this one better vertigo type point of view and love the elements of sunlight shimmying off parts of the rock... better add this to the bucket list too ;)
this is the same area as the previous shot too just a little more impressive in color :)
Any areas I'd know Marcz?
p.s. what are the ghostly images in the middle of the last one in the water between the rocks?

quite possibly mate its about an hours trek from the kings beach carpark/dead end toward waitpinga... its just an ocean foam i think ive used a slow shutter speed so it could be slightly blurry like this one...

Awesome pictures guys. Wish I could travel to all those places and more. Maybe after schooling.
Yep I would love to travel around a bit someday :)
Here are a couple of pics I took when I traveled through Europe last year:

I've always wanted to go to Croatia :(
I've been to a fair few of those places CF and I must say you have done very well ;)
CF Greek Islands 8) >:( VERY jealous, haven't got there yet, but did you get to Florence and Venice when you were in Italy?
I have some amazing snaps from a Euro trip also, will get them up soon.
Croatia was amazing Alex, one of my favourite places that we went :)
Spent a week in the greek islands ;D spent all day at the beach then all night drinking ;)
Yeah went to Florence and Venice, both places are beautiful! Saw the Statue of David, which was one of my highlights of the trip.
Another highlight of course was Oktoberfest ;D
The beer in a German Beerhaus reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons when Homer comes to Australia and asks for a beer and he replies 'that is a pretty big beer I suppose' ;)
Did you see THE statue, there are so many of David. Did you see Venice at high tide (can't find photo's, have to wait for Priscilla to get home). What about the Leaning Tower? Italy so beautiful but people are very rude >:(
Yeah saw THE statue, got a picture of it too even though we weren't allowed haha.
When in Venice I went to a murano glass demonstration and the man turned a block of glass into the most amazing horse I have seen in just 30 seconds!
Saw the Leaning Tower too, nothing else in Pisa apart from that unfortunately.
You are spot in saying Italy is beautiful but the people are rude! They wouldn't even tell us why our train had been canceled or help us work out how to get where we needed to go
Priscilla to the rescue...
Above Venice (see if you can spot any canals)....you won't ;)

Down in Venice, crossing a canal...

Nice Mc.
You don't look like I thought you would ;)
Is that Hurey on the record? :p
Looks like Paddy to me.
Well nobody looks like we expect them to ;). I should know that :P.
Well done guys absolute pearlers.
1 > If I could i would start putting some up from our travels but for the love of me can't do it. Will practice more. So it's in the pipeline.
2 > Have heaps of the states lying around that little ol canyon in Nevada.
Think it was Hurley, cheapskates only bought two between six of us and I don't know who kept copies.
I didn't use to look like that, was a cut athlete in my day :P
I've only just learnt naste (with Alex and my wife's help). I've had the footy photos since rnd 18 but couldn't work it out how to get them on and the others I've had for some time.
Including these from Mauritius (for you BB - I think he said somewhere he was Mauritian)....

OH :o. Those look like dead roots :o.
Some awesome street shots Roost. Only if I took my Camera to India. If you were in a cab on one of the main roads, probably one of the scariest things you can do if you were visiting ;). Great sight when you just see all of them moving in cohesion so well without any crashes.
weird, I was expecting roost to look like this:
HP I was there in the off season and hence why in the first photo there's no-one around, as I'm on the developed for tourists European side of town.
Just under and on the other side of the road and past armed guards they have their markets for their people, full of beggars, peddlars and disfigured, handicapped people.
Going to a place like that (and India) really makes you appreciate what we have got here and how good life is for us. The gaps between the have's and the have nots is ridiculous but it only takes one man to make a difference. After we had crossed the road we got talking to a father with a kid from a school near the resort we were staying at and it was compelling.
We managed to get something like $11,500 grand raised back at the resort from a famous cartoonist auction we held and sponsored this kids school for a new photocopier plus other bits.
His name was Arvind and he made a difference that day.
Wow Mc :o
Truly inspiring stuff, some of the stuff you do is really amazing.
INspirational like always Roost. There were really armed guards on the side of the road?
It is really humbling indeed going to a 3rd world country. See what they have compared to what we take for granted. The money we make compared to what it is worth to them.

Guards were actually under the road, one at either end (you use an underpass to cross the street), the ships in the harbour and their coastal patrol is intense - loads of piracy. I had a guy sell me a shopping bag full of new AA batteries for 10 rupee, I gave him a hundred and gave them to the school (100 rupee is about 5 or 6 bucks Aussie).

Alex, anyone can - it's just recognising that trigger point and when to pull that's the hard part ;)
I really do support anyone brave enough to make a decision based on feel and forget their head talking to them - it brings heartfelt rewards :)
100 Rupees in India is not even $3 for us now.
Nice thing to do for the School.
Buy some American dollars HP ATM, i'm going to and then convert them when I go to Brazil.
Check out my sister in law - I know lot's of people take this shot but it couldn't be helped. Tours were allowed up the Tower that day, very lucky :)

Aussie $$ is strong and could be a good time to change to US then wait a few months until they get back on their feet to cash in. No point changing as I doubt I'll be going overseas any time soon.

Just open up my Travlex card today for Hong Kong in March but using Aussie $'s & will use holes in walls as well as the visa side of it. Looking at BankWest as they apparently let you open accounts in US $'s. Will check out if true or false.
HP the waters are fed by natural springs and the first one still has the roof over it and has coins in it, hence the comparitive clarity and sparkle.
The second one has had the roof collapse into it and is exposed to the elements and has algae too.
The two guys in costume are there as guides but also to stop anyone touching the water, which is within reach but strongly forbidden.
Figured the first one was indoors. It's like a wishing fountain then with all the coins?
I like the picture though of it. Looks beautiful.
Glorious pics everyone, makes me really want to see these sights ofthe world ;)
amazing pictures and great stories gentleman :) this thread has already proved its worth with quality content...
Meet David his poetry has a strong aussie bushman theme and he busks in the main st of Victor Harbor on a 2-5 days a week basis depending on how his back feels as he can only stand for short periods of time, id passed him most days for about 6 months before i plucked up the courage to talk to him and ask if he would mind me taking some photos of him, he was extremely upbeat and agreed...

he carries all his belongings with him at all times and he was an amazingly humble and positive gentleman... i also slipped him $10 which made his face light up like christmas ;D
i shot this with high iso and heavy aperature to try and create a grainy old feel bcos thats how i see him... to qoute him "life as i see it"
Can see what you did with the second picture. Does work out well and get across what you mean.
Can see the sign in the first photo with his quote.
Amazing photos Marcz. And you'll never know how many amazing people you can meet. I still need to travel more to do so though.
absolutely Hp there is much to experience... im not a big ppl photographer and im trying to reach out and expand on that as there r so many terriffic stories behind the faces... my passion lies mainly with landscape and adventures its almost like a reset button to go on an epic journey by urself for hours on end with next to nobody around no noise no stress just be 8)

this is the 50 yo opening batsman from my cricketing story in the best sledges thread... as u can see he is an absolute character :P
Wow Marcz you are a really amazing photographer. Is it just a hobby of yours or is it your profession?
Got no clue what you are talking about when you say things like: shot this with high iso and heavy aperature though haha
Haha Marcz ;D. Why does his teeth look shiny though? Or is that just me......
I think it's just a Hobby as he owns a Pizza place (if I'm correct).
you are a professional aren't you marcz?
i noticed on one of the pictures it has marc russell copyright, your username is marcz so i could only assume.
Yeah that's why I asked JT. I would assume anyone who watermarks their photos must be atleast semi pro
Love that movie. ;D
These are amazing photos Marcz. Wish I had the time to travel and meet different people. It's too hard right now being 15. :(
Haha you will have plenty of time to travel ML ;)
Hopefully. ;)
thanks guys ;) its just a hobby for me going on 5 years now i watermark them bcos there r pirates out there that steal ur wares and distribute them as their own... i register my images thru mycopyright.com and there r watermarks embedded in key areas with minimal visibilty should a pirate try to make money off my images there is a high chance they wouldnt have been able to remove the watermarks and i could pinpoint them, just a technique i picked up from reading mags...
i do own a pizza place which keeps me busy everyday especially this time of year so my next adventure is the first monday of february :D

this is my place and those r some of my prints on the walls... i can also claim the great honor of feeding fellow FF Coach McRooster not so long ago and what a champion he is in real life aswell as on the forum ;)
Nice little place you got there. Now I'm hungry for Pizza again :(.
Nice idea with the watermarks. Come across anybody trying to use them yet?
Yeah thats cool Marcz, you do take great pictures though.
I used to work at Pizza Hut. I was the store manager, did that in 2009 during my gap year so I could earn money to travel through europe and earn enough money so I could claim youth allowance from centrelink :)
I swear I gained 10kgs working there!
i seem to get that alot and is there ever a bad time for pizza ???

if uve ever heard of redbubble.com its a forum similar to this except directed toward painters photographers and one of the main founders of the site caught a lady last year stealing members images and redistributing them on flikr and her own website... redbubble took care of the case for those that were affected but i wasnt one :'( i guess thats the ultimate compliment really someone steals ur work and claims it as their own...
So what's your favourite pizza Marcz?
I make a few pizza's at home now and then and like experimenting with different ingredients

Might just go get some cake to fill that pizza void now :P.
I work at an Italian restaurant close to my house. :)
Will be having pizza tomorrow night at 11. It's the worst time to eat.
Yeah sure did pay off :) Working there was actually a lot of fun, really enjoyed working during the day when I was by myself and I would be making the dough just listening to music. Making dough I find is very relaxing.
Have heaps more photos but don't want to clog up this board with photos of me and my mates drunk at Oktoberfest/drunk anywhere else haha.
Yeah very easy, especially when there is a canceled order or a mistake, it is much better to eat it rather than throw it away haha ;)

Are you like a waiter for the Restaurant? And I'm guessing it's like a small local one.
I hate vegemite :-X. I wouldn't even be able to put that experiment in my mouth! Although nice to see what you can come up with. Make it unique to your store alone ;).
haha it looks like we r all hankering for a slice now even im starving... whats ur favourites ML HP CF ???
Haha wow that really does sound quite gross (the vegemite one) :P
One of the nicest pizza's I have had is tomato base that you cook with a tiny bit of parmesan on it. Then once that is cooked you add to it freshly diced tomatoes, diced bocconcini cheese and some dolups of pesto here and there. It is delicious :)

Yer I've had dinner later as well, but I work from 5:30 to 10:30 and don't eat a big lunch because I won't feel that well at work.
It is a local restaurant, not small, but I understand what you mean.
I am the barman. :P I pour all the drinks (soft drinks, alcohol, coffee) and clean all the glasses.
I'm not too adventurous with my pizza. I like Margherita and one with chicken and BBQ sauce.

I made a nice one the other day it was a sweet chili base with chicken and leek on it. Pretty tasty :)
That's the best thing about pizza is that you can put almost anything on it. The combinations are endless :D
Mmmmm pizza. God damn, first I had a pretzel craving, now pizza...
jk ML ;D
absolutely CF if ur really game take ur pizza base and brush it with butter and sprinkle some sugar on it small amount of cheese and get some really ripe bananas chocolate and some almonds... cook the bananas and almonds on the pizza heat the chocolate up and drizzle it on the pizza once its cooked serve with ur favourite icecream or gelato ;) the ladies love it

I haven't made Pizzas since I was in primary school :(. When I go out, like a good Margherita one with lots of spices to add to it. Love the aroma of it. If it was me though, would add dried tomatoes and a few others things just to try something different. Half the time get Meatlovers or BBQ Chicken but trying new stuff nowadays whenever we get (not often).

I work at an Italian restaurant close to my house. :)
Will be having pizza tomorrow night at 11. It's the worst time to eat.
I've had dinner later ::). But just means you have to put off sleeping for a bit ;).
Are you like a waiter for the Restaurant? And I'm guessing it's like a small local one.
I hate vegemite :-X. I wouldn't even be able to put that experiment in my mouth! Although nice to see what you can come up with. Make it unique to your store alone ;).
How do you bribe the policeman? :P. Give him a free beer? ;). Must be trustworthy if they keep you behind the bar.
I like the Turtle photo.

yes i know of Peter Lik quite the wealthy man :o up until 2 years ago i didnt know him but a mate i used to go to school with likened my stuff to him and when i had no idea who he was and the mate being a funny bugger i had to google Peter Lik to find out if it was a payout... much to my shock Peter Lik is amazing and he was actually pumping up my tyres :)

Can anyone guess where I took this from?
on a bridge near richmond?
Is that Junction? (can't remember the name) station?
Yup ML :) (can't remember middle name either - we stayed only a punt away in East Melbourne, saw Nick Holland walk his dog across that bridge twice in three mornings)
Q directed me to use this station to get into town from where we were but we trammed it in three nights and walked home two.
Yep all me 8)

My bad, just been doing back reading about the trip whilst dinner is cooking and it was 'Jolimont' not Junction as I mistakenly confirmed for you ML.
Thankyou to everyone who made it a great weekend..http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,18562.0.html ...talk is of another one ;)
That's it. Jolimont. I don't live near there and barely take a train there so I'm surprised I was even close.

how do u reckon i created this image guys?
il help u out it has nothing to do with photoshop or any software for that matter...
That looks cool Marcz. Remember seeing a video on youtube a while back where a guy waves around light and created a similar effect.
But on a still frame, not entirely sure if no software was used.
I don't know how to explain you did it but I know how you did. ;)
My sister in law at Christmas time did the same thing with sparklers and my brother in law spelt I LOVE YOU (remembering to write it backwards so it came out right) and did another Merry Xmas one, very cool. I will see if she will send it to me, it looks great.
She seemed to have the camera open for a very long time and said she'd only just read about how to do it.
Did you do your one Marcz with glo-sticks?
indeed ur both on the money i left the shutter open for a minute and with 2 torches in each hand each colored in different cellophane i weaved in and out of the pillars under the causeway and in the last 10 seconds i stood still and illuminated my face so it would look like floating heads :)

Sorry to butt in HP, saw the video and couldn't help but watch it again, amazing stuff.
Not alot of wastage, a very clean work station and I noticed the wrist strap is gone - all better?
My son also noticed the sauce bottle (in its slightly different positions) as the sauce drained down with the time lapse - he also said "no wonder we only got to play 2 games of pinball, he makes his pizza fast"
Fascinating stuff champ 8)

cheers mate yeah its really strong again ive been able to get back into workouts again and that was my favourite bit the bbq sauce draining down the bottle... thats one of the main reasons i dont like letting others make the pizzas they dont grasp the waste cost or dont care and quite frankly nobody does it too my standard either, thats why we run a busy ship bcos im very particular with what i send out...

Naste: Thats okay, as long as you are at the Port games when the power visit town, that's just fine!
Marcz: Sure, as soon I get organised. I shoot mainly in RAW, so i have to get organised to display them. Was at the Tour Down Under today and got some good ones... one of Lance too!
yes same Wes there is no substitute for shooting in raw... i convert mine in lightroom or cs4 resize my images to around 640x480 or vice versa and use a facebook folder that only i can see to upload them too then the usual properties/image info copy paste :)

Thanks Mc Hp an ML (epic fail called u Maca apologies :-[ ) still pumped from it now... the young lad works for me and wants to get some major sponsorship happening so we had this shoot in mind for months just waiting for the weather to be bang on... everything was in 8-10 shot sequences too so when i get the time il turn them into one of these

this is the same lad and the day i concocted the idea to shoot a blazing sunrise with him flying thru it.
Like that one as well. Showing the motion in steps.
Just a question. How did you take the picture like that? Multiple shots in a row and then combine them?
basically u need a tripod or very steady hand u take them in single shots but then in photoshop u open all the photos and use a cloning tool to paste each step into a base shot(very time consuming) if u moved during the sequence then u will find it difficult bcos parts of the background wont line up...
Ah, at least the product is worth the work 8).
It would be hard keeping it still and manage to take so many shots very fast. Nice one.
its always worth it for me its just something i love :)

there were 3 other images i didnt put in bcos it made it too busy and time consuming so this is the first one...
All these pictures are absolute quality Marcz. ;D
Didn't even notice you called me Maca. :P
Glad to see he landed the jump ;)

this was my first IT shot, it drove me to save to get an SLR and chase a dream...
i got this photo one morning when we went for a sunrise and there was heaps of rain, so instead of leaving we hung out under a tree for awhile and it fined up after 30 minutes and boom the sun just shot out of the storm cloud, i had this composition set as i saw the bird flying past what i didnt count on was it veering at me as u can see with the offset wings, i shot this with a 3.2 megapixel compact camera :-[ u get bigger ones on ur phones these days ;D
Yep that's the one :) Love the name of it too haha ;)
I guess that just shows that persistence pays off when waiting for that perfect shot!

The patience you have is remarkable and the quality of product astounding.
Your image that opens and closes the video (and I think one of your former DP's) spooks me a little, those rolled white eyes on the right side image of you make you like the back page picture of Saturday's Advertiser - the one with Ricky Henderson after his concussion knock.

bahaha yeah its more "shopping" on that ive "cloned" the whites of my eyes and painted over the pupils of the normal image then reversed the image and stitched them together... cheers for the compliment Mc i appreciate it coming from u and ur porous outlook... apart from the intro sequences and finishing sequences this is RAW straight out the camera images... showing i dont need "shop" to do the work and u need good quality material to shop in the first place...
it reminds me of an old cartoon/flickbook ;D

quick bang up job... pretty quick trick which left minimal overlay ;)
So I can say more than 1 pick has left my eyes burning since I last posted in here! ;D. Airwalking on Sunshine looks great but I don't like brightness in general (I rarely have my light on due to the fact it hurts my eyes as does your picture). Not sure why the picture but it does but looks so good.....
sorry Hp didnt mean to hurt ur eyes... it would be very difficult to expose the sun correctly shooting straight at it with a wideangle lens and not underexpose everything else to the point of well pointlessness :P we wanted the ball of fire look :o
cover ur eyes HP 8)
this ones on fire...

What Should I Call This? ::)
basically it was an artistic shot for my own liking which is why im not close up, i wanted to use the pavement lines to frame the flaming sun and ive used HDR to grunge it up and bring out the definition of the pavement and clouds, so plz give me and idea on what to call it...
The background with the setting (rising?) sun make the photos look 8).
Like the sun when it reflects of the pavement and the bar (I think?). It hurts my eyes but well worth the look!
C in the centre of the pics for copyright?
yeah mate C is all thru my images with differing transparencies to avoid theft...
rising sun and im not even sure ive heard him call it coping, lip and rail :-\
Could call the entire collection "Airwalking On Sunshine" like in one of your other photos. Not sure if you want to name them individually :-\.

our beautiful home town of Victor Harbor, the skate park is right on the foreshore where the small second cluster of pine trees r passed the causeway... if ur ever in SA dont miss the chance to see VH i still remember the first time we drove into VH when i was 12 and the feeling i got the first time we came over the top of Klienigs Hill and seen Granite Island The Bluff etc :o

Blah@MILF....back to photography. My daughter has been taking snapshots for as long as I can remember. She has a portfolio on her school lappy. I'll get them and upload them and you can tell me what you think.
And yes I am really a Pies supporter. I am drinking a cup of tea out of the tempered glass beer mug my mum handed down to me that is like 40 years old.

Last one looks AWESOME. A rock pool? And is that somebody holding a camera? :P.
yeah mate thats my boy :D
the last one is of a shoot with my mate, when we were doing seascapes and i saw the potential to catch him doin work... he got a bit self concious when he saw i was shooting him but i managed to catch him just after a shot and kind of wondering is he going to be washed of the shelf by the large wave that just spilled into that hollow... was an epic day and beautiful rocky coast
heavily dodged and burned to give it the surreal feel

Haha, anything but. My parent's have pissed off for a week and left my Bro in charge. He didn't come home for like 4 days after they left... :o

Haha, still, it's the thought that counts? :P
QuoteHaha, still, it's the thought that counts? :P
He bought it because it was cheap and had the "Reduced Price, Must Go," sticker.
But then he rocks up with a fancy new digital set top box set for his TV. He already has like 3 box things any way. ::)
WTF :o. I hope you didn't ask what he did during those 4 days ;).
Ah well, always next year :-\.

He doesn't live at home anymore. But he was SUPPOSED to come home on Tuesday, but meh. House to myself.

On the upside, at least he remembered your birthday :P.

Rodney is a Vic i think from memory had to stay over there while completing school :-\
id say from that glare it was either ur hand or someones boof head moving in front of u and the flash reflecting off it, tends to happen when ur zooming beyond the foreground...
good resolution on ur shots Mc can be hard at night time 8) il be sitting front row and middle so i shouldnt be at a disadvantage at any time...

p.s. can you tell me what might be causing that little half dome shadow in the bottom part of some of the pics?
i thought it to be a flash reflecting off a subject too close, but if it happens in every shot could be a sensor problem :o

guarantee ya he didnt get me and not only that i doubt his actual shot wouldnt be flash either...
thats a 14-45mm 17-50mm at best, short and stumpy... there only good for about 20 metres @50mm
to give u an idea i was about 50metres from the action shooting at 300mm so that bloke would in my approximation be about 40 meters behind the ball on field, doesnt really seem like it tho due to the telephoto compression...

well my long exposure thru the city adventure didnt pan out due to rain, had a couple of attempts...
but as u can see i was getting hammered by rain from the flares in these shots which r raindrops on the lens filter.

How can you be bothered going to such low angles? Unless I'm picking up a ball, I never go that low :P.
Nice shots though. I love that last car, the olden day car :D.
I love how they are all at the same angle
its not really a calculated thing i start with an idea and it escalates from there... can end up in some strange positions.
this the 7mm lens again from the skateboard shoots, can focus from 9cm away which is roughly how close i am in these.

That's some pretty sweet shots.
I must ask though... Did you cross that bridge??
Parahawking was amazing Torp. Would recommend it to anyone who is planning on going to Nepal :)
Haha yeah coolfugitiv I did cross that bridge. The support railings were so weak that if you lost your balance and fell to the side they wouldn't have stopped you from falling in! Then got across and discovered that it was being weighted down at one end by a whole load of logs, and next to the logs was a termite mound ::)

"Braddah Iz"
I am very humbled to present an image that took several years and multiple tries to capture the way I envisioned it in my mind ever since discovering this location on Kauai a few years ago.
This particular morning capture was the culmination of much planning & it could not have been executed without the help of several friends who lent me both their time and energy in helping create this capture. Thank you so much to my friend Mark Shutt for taking time out of your morning for our mission. Thanks to Bethany Hamilton for lending your brother the truck to drive down that trecherous road, thanks to Timothy Hamilton & Pypyr Lluellen for helping discover this spot and keep me company and to my cousin Lisa Garcia for putting up with my nagging and obsessing on achieving this goal. My heart is content!
Have a great weekend all!~

I bet depending on the Lens, you could of been thinking there goes a few grand with the tide. Got me motivated to do some time lapse stuff Marcz, some of the Trout streams that me and my son fish would be good, had a bit of rain lately as you would know. If anything works out i'll post it.
PS. i am keen on getting ALOHAFRIDAY, can you PM me regarding how, cheers mate. Pezpix can take some great shots cant he.
make sure use a tripod and remote mate, if u dont have a remote use the timer setting, atleast 5 seconds to avoid camera shake as even pressing the button gently effects the image when u look at it closely ;)
Do u have facebook Grazz? if so u can contact him thru www.facebook.com/Pezpix if u dont il let him know ur interested ;)

Have the tripod, no remote but may purchase one or as you said use the self timer. Did some years ago on film, appeture settings i'll vary and just mix it all up a bit. Thats the beauty of Digital you can suss out the shot straightaway make changes as your going.
Any tips with camera set up ie settings would be appreciated mate.

if u dont have 1 buy urself a "polarizing filter" for ur widest/landscape lens, it will help with the effects aswell as keep ur actual lens scratch free... as u know everything is subject to conditions but i usually go with an aperature between F14 and F22 low iso and dependent upon how fast the water is moving and the effect that looks best for it between 1/4 of a second to 1.3seconds... when shooting waves or inconsistent speeds/power u get a full experience of how all the differences look and suit the scape ur shooting...
example with the biggest wave shot ive got above, imo that water is a fraction too whispy (shutter open too long) bcos i had it dialed in for a slightly smaller wave, what im after is a bit of magic i want the wave to be whispy in a spot where it impacts, but slightly sharper in its other areas or still has a visible structure... il post an example for ya ;)

that was from an afternoon hunt for new spots, was always gonna head back and try nail it in its prime... had a couple of trips back there but im still not 100% satisfied yet so il keep on keepin at it until i get that nugget. this one here would probably be the best of my shots so far from the same shelf...

this one is a bit of a vision i had while shooting this at the same shelf with a mate, the way it looked thru my viewfinder wasnt how it translates into a file but while composing it i had the idea of making it into a surreal/edgey fantasy piece in post production to surprise him as he didnt click to me shooting him at that time.

Nice stuff Marcz; came out awesome!
Here's just a quick snap from my not-so-recent holiday to Vietnam. First time going overseas and was flipping amazing.

That's me in the photo, sister took it unfortunately only on a digital camera, so focus is a bit dodgy. But it still looks cool! Haha :)
Old Vietnam war watchtower that I'm standing next to. Was an insane view off both sides. Coastline in the background!
That is an awesome perspective mate 8) never been there but that interests me more to do so...

Long Exposure from the annual Meteor Shower... about 3hours worth stacked together "As The World Turns"
I hadn't noticed this thread before. Amazing work Marcz and others! 8)
I just found out yesterday that a couple of my photos have been selected for exhibition at the Royal Adelaide Show. The shot of the guitarist below (Naokazu Kobayashi from Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro) won 3rd place in its category.

I did actually title the photo "Passion". ;D
Have you entered at the Show before? I didn't realise until after my last post that you were in S.A.
I might post a few more of my fav shots up tonight.

Nah not really Craigy i dont push my work or enter it much, when i first started it was something i was considering, but when i asked myself what i wanted from photography, did i want the pressure of working in it etc the answer was no, what i did want was the freedom to shoot what i wanted when i wanted too bcos i find it theraputic, nothing beats getting away from the hustle and bustle of civilization like a 3-5 hour coast trek... like being born again for me
Really crisp images there mate, very engaging and interesting compositions which is what makes an image standout, love that u have plenty of "hustle and bustle" images, i love seeing thru another persons eye keep up the great work 8)

I live in Hallett Cove where the kid got hit and I can safely say that was the most dangerous thunderstorm we've had in my lifetime. I've seen more active ones but there was some serious power behind yesterday's.
Great shots Marcz. I was stupidly taking heaps of shots at the GE Building through the glass before I realised there was a higher observation deck. ::) I can imagine it would've been amazing at night.
Haven't taken many photos recently, apart from a couple of graffiti shoots. I did take a nice macro of a flower the other week...

As for Port, I've mentioned on FF a few times that most of my mates are Port supporters. Went over with them in 2007 but knocked back a ticket so I could hang out in the city for the day. Proved to be a good decision. Here's the unhappy scene at Acer Arena that night -

Nice catches!
I remember when I was working for SARDI the scientists brought in a tuna to do research on and it was 126kg. Thing was freaking massive. :o

Yeh they get huge mate, those we caught are really only small fish. Ive heard them go as big as 160-180 kilos in our waters, the biggest I heard of was a Blue Fin that weighed 220kilos and sold for 1.7 million.

Cheers if you can and only a single cheer if you can't.
Kind of depends what you are shooting Doc. For my night photos I had the ISO at 80 or 100, F stop 8.0 and the exposure time anywhere between 5 secs and 15 secs depending on the light conditions. Also using a tripod obviously.
My suggestion to your daughter would be to find some photos she likes on Flickr then have a look at the EXIF data which is generally listed below to get a feel for how people were achieving particular shots.

Trial and error is the best way imo, take a photo on "auto" mode and note the shutter speed and aperature numbers, switch the camera to "manual" mode and using those numbers as a starting point, manipulate shutter speed, aperature, iso, white balance by small increments, take the same photo repeatedly with different settings each time, it will help her understand her camera' potential and develop her photographic eye

Yeh good advice, you learn quickly what settings will do under varying conditions.
Writing the shot settings down is handy.

First couple of attempts at star trail photography. First image is a stack which I had to abort due to clouds and the second one is a 32 minute exposure. Will try to have another go soon and do a better job.

Another attempt at star trails. 201 exposures at 30 seconds. Had to delete 2 frames because a plane flew through.

The best thing about those images Mr C, is that they make me realise how insignificant I really am.
The universe rocks.
Just spent an evening shivering down at the local conservation park creating this image. It's not perfect so I'll have another go eventually but I like the framing.

What made the white light lines in front of the shed?
Was the violinist winking at you?? Nice.
That library exudes energy.
Great stuff.

Sorry Doc, only just saw this comment.
The white line was a cyclist moving through the picture at just the right time.
The violinist was winking at someone off to my right. Just got her at the right moment. I think the girl in the b/w photo saw me about to take a shot of her and was a little embarrassed, began to raise her hands up to her face and it made for a really nice shot. I don't think she genuinely minded that I photographed her, hopefully she'd like the result if she ever saw it.
Don't know wtf has happened to TinyPic today. Hopefully I haven't lost all my uploads. :(

Some nice shots in here... Slowly getting back into photography again managed to pick up a Canon 1200D for $150 (advantage of living in Asia) which is a pretty big downgrade from my old gear but will build back up when budget allows. Will post some shots later.

Just saw this post. Anyone got some advice on Canon lenses? I've got a DSLR and looking at getting some new lenses. I've been told there is a really good one for around the $150 mark (no zoom) just takes really solid pictures. Also seen a lense for long range that's in the $170 ball park. Both are made from plastic hence the low prices, but from reviews they sound pretty solid. Anyone used these before?
Damn, they're some good photos

If ever the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies it's probably with camera lenses mate.

Really? I've had a few photographers say the $150 is awesome, a couple of reviews say it's light and plasticy, but maybe 1 out of 10. I'll do a bit more investigating anyway.

If ever the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies it's probably with camera lenses mate.
Really? I've had a few photographers say the $150 is awesome, a couple of reviews say it's light and plasticy, but maybe 1 out of 10. I'll do a bit more investigating anyway.
First hand information is always best from those using them, let us know how they go/post some shots if you go with them.

I'll prob get the $150 one and see how it goes, until I want something with further reach.

Cheap enough to have a crack at if you've got some good feedback, interested to see how it goes.
Tonight's effort...

flowering sweet Craigy! Is that a quarry or something?
Nah, that's the local conservation park. ;)
Also, thanks.
Love it! How'd you get the foreground so light but capture the stars? Just a really clear night?

The moon came up for the last 20 or so shots which helped. I also used my torch in the last shot.
Thanks for the insight Craigy. Very creative :)

Really love the last two, no matter how many times I see a swirled night sky, I still adore it.
Have to see if I have any photos up of mine up to scratch.
Have very little, due to the poor standard camera I use (*ehm* iPod 5 *ehm*)
This is all I've got, with 4/5 being edited or filtered.

Saving up for an actual camera as we speak, with the dream being to travel the country, and later the globe capturing life from behind the lens.
Long way to go, huh?

I love your astro photography Mr C...Mars beaches?
Not the time of the year for astro T Dog. The Milky Way core will become more visible in the next couple of months and I might get back out and about.
The closest I've got to Mars recently is those new brownie flavoured Mars Bars. :P

$50. But it was more about making that first sale than getting paid.
I've just started up a Facebook page for my photography. If anyone wants to throw me a like that would be much appreciated.

Adelaide Oval this evening.

Unreal Craig.
Lovely work Mr C, very nice. ;)
The photo of Adelaide oval is pretty much the view I have from the bar right there when I borrow a mates Power membership tickets if he's not going. There's a few good blokes around there that are good to have a chat with and pretty funny to.
I wish that was my view. My mates all have seats down in basement at Bay 125.
