Very Hard To Choose :P
Liking Team 4 and 6 atm...
4 is really good, but so are the others :-\
4 and 5 I like
Yeh 5 is good but the bowling attack is weak compared to some other teams...
Same as reesbr, 4 or 5 will get my vote.
Team 5 has the Worst Keeper out of the bunch (Close to Mcullum, Very), Zaheer Khan and Mitchell Johnson.
Worst Keeper compared to others. Probably could of found a better one but ah well.
Overall though, probably one of the better batting and bowling lineups ;). But I'll take your word for it as I don't know as much as you guys about cricket.
To me I think it's No.4, then No.5.
Apart from Warne I can't see as good bowling depth in team 4 as the others, say for example team 1 has some better bowlers IMO.
Ntini is a mega star.
Steyn is the best fast bowler in international cricket, and i think team 6 has very good batters
Team 5's batting is just wow!
Ponting and Lara 2 of the best 3 batsmen of the generation, plus Smith and Laxman opening. Nothing could beat that!

McGrath :P
voted team 5 closely followed by team 4
I meant playing now :P
voting is now open
seeing as icant vote for myself il vote for 4.. best spinner ever best 2 south afican pace bowlers and all batters on there day are unstopable
yeah i gave to 4
I voted team 5.
I went 4. Simply because it seems to have 0 weaknesses. Very solid.
Team 4 very solid all round.
I voted team 5. Very strong batting line up, only small weakness is not the biggest depth in bowlers, but still a great team
Team 5 does have an almost unbeatable batting lineup, 2 is good as well.
so who u vote 4 :P
i voted 5 over 4 just, but only cause i couldnt vote for myself :P
i voted for 5 aswell
Are you guys serious? lol Unstoppable line up>? If its on fire then yes but its prone to going out cheaply. Weak bowling attack in Team 5? A bowler probably exactly similar to Glen McGrath with a little less ability in Pollock... Who can bat a lot more. Ntini was an animal, Warne an animal, and Razzaq who is one of few bowlers to be able to reach 1k runs as well as 100 wickets. Oh and Vaas who basically did the same.
Before you vote, at least wikipedia the players and learn about them before you do.
Team 5; Best defensive/Solid batting line uo. Team 2 is the best top 5 in them all, team 5 is the best middle order and seam bowler.
Enough said.
By the way I voted for Team 2. Best top order out of the lot, with a very solid bowling attack and the best actual keeper in the history of the game, holding the record for most dismissals by a keeper over Gilchrist.
I voted 4.
I voted team 5 quite a while ago.
My vote is still with 4 ;)
I think you got a bit mixed up with your numbers at the end there Shaggy :-X
Team 5 would not bowl overly well...
Also they have 2 AR's :ninja
gona b a very close poll
Team 4 FTW!
lol If Team 4 loses to Team 5, I think I'm going to have to break out the statistics. lol
I wouldn't blame you I would much rather team 4 for ODI's & tests.
lol y shaggy
I wonder which one is Shaggy's team lol
3 great batsmen, the rest average. Haddin is just an average keeper throughout active ones now. And 2 great bowlers in Kumle and McGrath with Flintoff as a decent one. How does that win? lol
Statistically Hawka, bowling wise, Team 4 dominates Team 5 especially with the pace attack. Vaas, Pollock, Ntini and Razzaq... Warne is better than Kumble, Pollock is only a little bit under McGrath's awesomeness. The rest of the bowlers smash the rest of his.
As for the batting, team 4 has batting depth down to pick 10. Yes, to the 10th position they can all bat. Ganguly, Dravid and Chanderpaul are the best defensive batsmen in history of the game, never giving up their wickets easily and spending a lot of time at the crease without going out... Ganguly actually held the record for it until Dravid took it.
Then you add Yousef Youhanna who has the record for most runs EVER in a SINGLE YEAR with 9 centuries and well over 1k runs. Katich averages 49 I believe... Gilchrist, need I saw anything?
lara was 1 of the best ponting is 1 of the best laxman smashed australia smith averges over 50.sarwan is a soild number 5.haddin can destory attacks like that flintoff was t 2nd best ar of the decade and even my number 8 has scored a test century and khan is indians best fast bowlers for years and its very hard to bowl pace in india flat turning pitches

behind Kallis of course
Never said anything bad against Lara, Ponting or Laxman. I said 3 great batsmen and that is them.

Alex, my #10 has a ton too. -.-
Yeah, you have several fantastic players... But I know which one I would take hawka. :P
haha nice work shaggy personally i reckon our teams are very hard to separate
I think they are both good teams but my bowling dominates yours, while we both have different batting set ups. Mine is more defensive, can force draws easily when things aren't going great or dominate the scoreboard whereas yours is a lot more aggressive, will obliterate most opponents in a battings innings if things go their way.
2 different batting styles but the bowling is where it is separated.
but all my bowlers on thee day can deystory a attack kumble has 10 wickets in a innings mcgrath has a few 8 fors so does johnno
Yeah and they are your 2 best bowlers... Kumble and McGrath. Johnson is still only a good bowler but not a great one. He doesn't have much of an impact. Kumble is gthe 2nd best leg spinner in history. Nothing will change that and McGrath is probably the best seam bowler. He is for sure the best as far as the rules went for this competition.
Lets look at it this way:
Competition Tests ODIs FC List A
Flintoff: Wickets 226 169 350 289
Johnson: Wickets 175 129 272 159
Kumble: Wickets 619 337 1,136 514
Khan: Wickets 250 241 561 312
McGrath: Wickets 563 381 835 463
Totals

ODI: 1284
Ganguly: Wickets 32 100 164 168
Pollock: Wickets 421 393 667 573
Warne: Wickets 708 293 1,319 473
Razzaq: Wickets 100 259 14
Vaas: Wickets 355 400 683 479
Ntini: Wickets 390 266 624 340
Totals
Test: 2006
ODI: 1711
Who picks up more wickets? ;)
While I was at it, I worked out the batting totals from both teams for Test/ODI.
Team 5:
55,348 Test runs
43,968 ODI runs
Team 4
58,131 Test runs
63,034 ODI runs
Massive difference in ODI. Absolutely massive. So you can have your 3 gun batsmen, Team 4 showers all over them.
Now that I have proven without a shadow of a doubt who the better team is, anyone wish to change their vote yet?
I'm guessing you're team 4 Shaggy? :P.
Oh yeah, I am Team 4 lol
lol I already voted team 4 :P
The point I am trying to make is people have voted based on 5-6 players from Team 5, instead the whole team of Team 4 which is the purpose of the draft. Its to make the best all-round team possible and while Team5/hawka has made a nice team, it quite clearly by the statistics isn't the best possible.
So do I ;)
Hey Shaggy I was on your side ::)
Average Matches per team

ODI: 251.54
So it's quite clear my side has played quite a few more games than your team, which isn't really a factor but should be in the test averages per game/innings which obviously, not all of them would have gone to a 2nd innings but go with it anyway.
Average Team Runs Per Match/Innings
Worked out by Matches Total divided by 11 to find an average, then dividing the runs total by that matches/innings average.
Team 5
Test: 585.44/292.72
ODI: 238.25
Team 4
Test: 561.43/280.70
ODI: 250.59
So by this method, my team outscores you in ODI which is where I have a lot of strength in my bowlers, whilst in tests you outscore me.
Alex, I know you were. :p
Now should I do anymore.... Hmmm I dunno. I think I proved my point lol I could do an average of how many wickets they would pick up per match. :D
Although like you said Shaggy because of the extra matches played for your guys they will naturally have lower averages.
Overall when added up, my team had played nearly 1k more ODI and about 200 more tests. So it is a big difference.

You would have to incorporate the average amount of overs in a test innings, the SR of the bowlers, the average amount of deliveries between dismissals for the batsman, the amount of not out innings achieved by the batsmen, would be complicated...
Or we could jsut assume both teams would take 10 per innings, 20 per test :ninja
And I am not very good at working out averages. Hence why I asked HP if I was doing the right formula just to do the test/innings one. :p
And thats funny because I used to be top 1.3% in Australia for maths when I was a kid. -_- Old age, I tell you... And lots of alcohol.
Haha :P
Would I change a thing? Yes... I would have started drinking earlier. :D
wen ppl vote they mite not look at the whole team they mite say hey he has mcgrath lara and ponting ior in your case they mite say hey he has warne and gilly
It is stupid to jusdge a team based on a few players though. You need to look a little deeper ;)
very true alex and i voted for u btw shaggy
They should be voting for the team, which is the point. I mean, after all, it is the title of the thread.
Who has created the best team from the cricket draft?
But thats not to say you don't have a good team because you honestly do. It just has quite a few holes in it.
thx
i neglected the bowling a bit i know
I voted for Team 2 because he has a ripper team (Except for Bracken who hasn't really been 'that good' in any form). He has the best openers, a very solid middle order with the best keeper in cricket now, or ever. Not keeper-batsman or that would be Gilly but pure keeper in Boucher. And a solid slightly underrated bowling attack.
team 2 first six is just :o
but all those bowlers were very inconstsient
Not really. Its a ODI bowling line up. Mushtaq is the best ODI off spinner, having reached all the milestones for wickets up to 250 faster than anyone else. And the only spinner ever to get a hat trick in a one dayer as well.
And he took 2 hat-tricks in ODI's, only 2 other guys have done that. One is Vaas who I have and Im not sure who the other guy was.
wasim akram
Yeah thats it. Couldn't remember who but I knew it was a Pakistani as well.

cheers shaggy thought i was actually in with a chance until the first few votes came in :-\
Team 2 was second for mine :)
Team 4 just couldn't be beaten though. Very nice team MTTY ;)
When it was finished, I knew I had the best team overall. But my biggest risk to voters in my opinion was your team MTTY... :x
Thought I would do my own little stats here to see if they differ from what shaggy is saying. Going by the batting average of each player in each team I have worked out that the average score each team would make each inning if every player batted would be:
Team 4
Tests: 401.98 runs
ODI's: 288.78 runs
Team 5
Tests: 379.75 runs
ODI's: 305.62 runs
And now going on bowling averages for how many runs they would concede before getting the other out (work out an average for the 5 bowlers then multiply by 10)
Team 4
Tests: 287.14 runs
ODI's: 267.62 runs
Team 5
Tests: 292.1 runs
ODI's: 267.46 runs
So from these stats you can see that Team 4 is clearly better than Team 5 in test matches since they score more runs per innings and concede less when bowling. But for ODI's it is the opposite so Team 5 is better since they score more runs and concede a little bit less.
So I guess your voting should go to whether you prefer test matches or ODI's/
Concede a little less? Under a run difference ::)
How do they score more, when I have 20k more total runs?
Also, how did you work yours out CF? I'm not generally good at figuring out averages.

Haha yes I know, but they did score more so they would still win.

I would assume you have 20k more runs because your players have played a lot more matches.
Well for working out the team batting average I just added together each players average to get a score. And for runs conceded I added together the bowling average of the 5 bowlers and diveded that by 5 to get an average of how many runs would be conceded per wicket then multiplied by 5.
I voted for team 5 a while ago because I like the attacking instinct in the side, but after looking at the stats I would probably change my vote to team 4
Yeah I saw how you worked out how you got the bowling side but the batting side I was curious about.
I didn't think of doing it that way... Good thinking lol I made my team for test matches, a side I would ideally want to see playing tests. ODI's I have a nice side I believe but my strength quite clearly is tests, and aggression doesnt pay off much in tests unless its against Bangladesh. :p
cmon every 1 whjo hasnt voted vote
It's been a week now hawka.
I think voting has now finished
no it says on the first thin it goes until the day after new yr
Oh right.
I just assumed it was the same as the soccer one and that went for a week
Well there hasnt been a vote here for about 3-4 days so it may as well be closed anyway
Still no change now in the amount of votes so I guess its official.
I am ze champion.

Indeed CF.
Would you win a gymnastics one Shaggy?
i know a couple of gymanist of the top of my head i thinm theres a chick with a first name lauren and i guy called phillp rizzo :P
How about ice skaters ? :P
dermie broke a leg ice satkiting ithink
is that good enof ;P
Well obviously he is not good if he broke his leg ::)
If we were doing an ice skating one I would pick Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy with my first two picks ;)
Actually Alex, I think I would do absolutely fantastic in a Gymnastics one... Seeing as I dated an older woman who's 11yo daughter was one of the best prospects in Australian Youth Gymnastics until she shattered her tibia and fibia in a dismount. :P So watched a lot of it with her. :P
Ice Skating, no idea. Ice Hockey however and I would be a good chance I think.

No such bone as a fibia :P
Fibula. I got carried away with the bia's. :P
They are confusing.
I always used to mix up tibia and fibula and call them tibula and fibia.
But now doing health science I know pretty much all the bones
ALL the bones :o You bloody freak.
