Title: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Fletch74 on October 04, 2010, 10:49:38 AM
Use this thread to list your teams for the third round of the Pre-season Cup, once all Trades are finallised.

As mentioned earlier all teams must be in the formations of

3-4-3, 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 5-4-1, 5-3-2, or 5-2-3 only, plus you must nominate a Captain and Vice Captain.

Subs must be ranked in order of prefence to come on the field as well, with the GK first.

Sorry forgot, this is what I named in my team thread, which I'll delete in there:
QuoteWell, it's the Final of the Pre-Season cup, Q's Champions have cruised to the final while Hello has been dominant but hasn't had the easiest of runs. With Everton playing Liverpool, Manager Q is bringing on Robinson from Blackburn, who are playing Sunderland. Scholes just edges back into the team, coming in for Givet. Williamson will be on stand by as Alex may not play. In a very risky move Arteta keeps the armband this week, while Malouda will be named as VC.

GK: Robinson

DEF: Alex, O'Shea , Skrtel,

MID: Malouda (VC), Arteta (C) , Nolan, Scholes

FWD: Bent  , Odemwingie , Jones

Bench: Howard, Williamson, Scholes, Walcott, Givet

Ah. Not a bad lineup. Bent might be a smokie against blackburn ;).

Trying to pull in another big trade to settle my team for a while 8).

For some reason my team disappeared? So have to post it again, so here is my the first team to get to play at the best stadium in the competition El Estadio Del Toros

          Koscielny            Ferdinand             Boateng
                                       (VC)

                          Torres           Rodallega
                                                  (C)

Bench:

   Gilks       Jagielka     Jerome      Dunne

Since it is just a friendly match I thought I would put Rodallega captain sine he is playing against Newcastle. Also concerns over the availability of Torres and Lampard but thought I would name them anyway

GK: Van Der Sar

DEF:John Terry, Bennoit Assou-Ekotto, Micah Richards, Luke Young

MID: Gareth Bale (VC), Ashley Young, Jo Cole, Samir Nasri,

Fwd: Wayne Rooney(C), John Carew

BENCH: Carson, A.Ferdinand, Kuyt, van Persie (in order of preference)

Rooney as captain first game back should be pumped and ready to smash a few into the back of West Brom's net
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Justin Bieber on October 15, 2010, 05:15:51 PM
GK: Hart

DEF: Vermalean, Baines, Ivanovic, El Mohamady

MID: Milner (C), Arshavin, Nani (VC), Henderson

FWD: Berbatov, Agbonlahor

Bench: Jääskeläinen, Davies, Johnson, Brunt

Hard to choose benchies this round for the Championship match in the Pre Season. Might as well take a few risks :P.

Hart was a given down back. El gets the nod ahead of Johnson due to Liverpool's inability to keep a cleansheet. Might continue against Everton :(. Brunt an obvious one to bench up against the might of Man U. The last benchie was a throw up between Henderon and Davies. Davies gets the bench spot for Henderson just to test it out :P. But with AgBon in doubt, will likely come in which I don't mind 8).

EDIT: VC wasn't named but is now given to Nani.

GK: Howard

DEF: O'Shea , Skrtel, Givet

MID: Malouda, Arteta (C) , Nolan, Scholes

FWD: Bent (VC) , Odemwingie , Jones

Bench: Robinson, Williamson, , Walcott,  Alex

2 Injured players on the Bench meaning I only have 1 person to cover if a Non-Goalie doesn't play, wouldn't be surprised if HP beats me this week.

Going to be an interesting games. Hopefully Sunderland do well for the both of us :D.

Arteta vs Milner would be a good matchup between the Captains.

Just a heads up Q, but Bent may not play this weekend through injury. Also interesting you have gone for Givet playing against Sunderland, whilst Williamson is playing Wigan, so might be able to keep a clean sheet

I'm so annoyed you picked VDV andrew. I was going to pick him but went Glen Johnson first cos I thought that VDV would make it through another round, but then you picked him :(
Since then I have traded out Johnson for Gary Cahill and then dropped him for Jerome Boateng. Gee worked out well for me :(

I was surprised when he was still available in the 4th round. Same with AJ and David Silva.

Post by: Justin Bieber on October 15, 2010, 07:11:07 PM
I wanted Young and left him for a little later. ZZ picked him up before me :'(. But now have Berba to make up for it :P.

Not sure why you traded out Johnson (a proven scorer although not the best of starts) for Cahill who you dropped? I'm Keeping A Little Faith in my players :D. Baines, Jaask, Ivanovic, Henderson and Davies are those who I like :D. First few didn't start of well but have shown something recently 8).

That happened to me a couple of times as well CF ;D. We could try a similar one next season if all of us are still on but maybe with more teams 8).

Adam Johnson was another one I was going to pick up.
You did pretty well in the draft andrew I must admit

He's probably got one of the stronger teams. Forwards a little let down but everywhere else :o.
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: CrowsFan on October 15, 2010, 07:14:03 PM
Well I traded him so that I could get Torres, and pretty certain that Boateng will stay in the side now so is a better player to have than Cahill.

I don't think it would work well with more teams, 8 is a good number I feel. Mainly because of the whole goal keeper issue. You get more teams and some teams might not even get a playing keeper
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Andrew3737 on October 15, 2010, 07:15:42 PM
My midfield is prob top 1 or 2. Forwards are by far bottom 4.  I think I am around 1-3 mark for the best team.
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Justin Bieber on October 15, 2010, 07:18:35 PM
Same probably for me :).

8 is a good number. But can limit to 1 keeper to each team for the first like 8 rounds. Everybody would have to draft a keeper. Then it's a free for all for the remaining keepers :P. Would make the banter some more fun with more heads in 8).

If it was to happen again next year it would be better if it was completed before the season started so that no one knows who is in form and stuff like that.

Also it would be good if it was organised that we all had to be on at a certain time to try and pick the draft in 1 night or over a few nights instead of weeks
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Justin Bieber on October 15, 2010, 07:22:34 PM
Yeah. Before the season would be good. Probably like a month out (maybe 2 weeks).

In 1 night would be impossible :o. Over a couple of nights more likely.
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: CrowsFan on October 15, 2010, 07:27:59 PM
Yeah I know 1 night would be impossible, but if we just managed to get everyone on at the same time you could get through a few rounds each night instead of 3 picks a day like it was some times.

Also if everyone drew up a shortlist of players they wanted then it could go much quicker instead of searching for a new player each time someone picks
Title: Re: Pre-Season Cup Teams Round 3 (Cup Final)
Post by: Justin Bieber on October 15, 2010, 07:33:25 PM
Yep.

I did that this time. A few from each position who were taken out if drafted pre hand. Helped me speed up my picks unless didn't think any of them were worthy of getting picked that early :P.
