also don't like pavlyuchenko up front. he barely plays for tottenham

Silva ----> N'Zogbia

Pavlyuchenko ----> Saha
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: benjy251090 on August 04, 2010, 12:44:31 PM
definately like the second one, is there someone better than n'zogbia you can get? if not i like it better than what you got, but silva is a good player but not a fantasy player
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 04, 2010, 12:57:36 PM
I agree with benjy. pavlyuchenko to saha is good, but I wouldn't get n'zogbia. Just checked and you could get gamst-pederson from blackburn. Used to be a fantasy gun, but was below average last season. Also went and watched blackburn play recently in sydney and they were playing him up front which means he could score some more goals this year

Ok thought I would chuck my team in and see what you think.

Tim Howard (Steve Harper)
Gareth Bale, Jamie Carragher, Jerome Boateng (Jose Enrique, Marek Cech)
Ashley Young, Tim Cahill, Joe Cole, Kevin Nolan, Graham Dorrans
Robin van Persie, Carlos Tevez (Andy Carroll)

Agree Pav out he doesnt want to be at Spurs and they dont Want him, Saha is not a good option always injured hes the Equivalent of Jesse W Smith and not as good as Man U days, Gamst Pedersen might play up front but wont score many goals and blackburn more than likely be relegated and will grind out results , How much Cash Do you have left to buy a striker.

I like N'Zogbia i think he is versatile can play defensive midfield very skilful player in terms of Fantasy he can get alot of assist and score a few goals and is consistent , i like him ... i think your team is solid just saha is not a prolific goals scorer and is injury prone.

wow you really think blackburn will be relegated? they finished 10th last year. teams more likely to be relegated are:
blackpool - no squad depth and not good enough for league
west brom - go between the premier league and championship like a yo-yo
wolves
bolton
and possibly west ham, but they have made a few good signings so not sure how they will go
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: RobsOverAchieverss on August 04, 2010, 01:49:08 PM
Do you know anything about blackpool or you just think there crap. Bolton wont get relagated Owen Coyle is a genius and West Ham are a massive club but agree unless the sign a few players will struggle, blackburn are a very old overated team lost alot of players they havent replaced and with Robinson in goals will conceed a stack of goals and cant see who will score the goals for them no Santa or benni.
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: RobsOverAchieverss on August 04, 2010, 01:50:31 PM
What odds could i get for blackburn being relagated? $7.50
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 04, 2010, 02:41:16 PM
so how much are you putting on blackburn to get relegated then? i will admit that i don't know much about blackpool, but it is true that they have a very small squad at the moment, and not much money to strengthen it. even their coach has admitted that they will struggle this year and would be surprised if they don't get relegated.
oh and in what way is owen coyle a genius? if you want to talk about conceding lots of goals that award would go to bolton. only teams to concede more last season were wigan, burnley and hull. robinson is a much better keeper than jaaskelainen, and the blackburn defense is stronger than boltons. who will score the goals for bolton?
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)

$50 just did you got to love tab sportsbet, A manager at the start of the season said that his team will get relagted hmm i doubt it very much, Owen Coyle took a Club from the Championship who was favored to be relagated and took them to EPL with limited funds also had no funds whilst in the EPL he also saved Bolton from getting Relagated, he inherited a pretty weak side and managed to avoid getting them relageted, When you read your information of Wiki its decieving he only took over manager at Bolton in January so to blame him for the defensive woes is ridiculous. Jussi is far better..Robinson have you seen him he flaps at the ball, the only reason he got the England Number 1 is because england havent produced a good GK since Seaman, Do you think that Jussi is a bad GK because Bolton Conceed alot of goals? Have you heard of a player called Johann Elmander,M Petrov,Robbie Blake and K Davies.
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 04, 2010, 04:19:42 PM
Well that's a wasted bet, but I guess we will see at the end of the season. And I never said I blamed Coyle for their defensive problems, but he hasn't really helped fix it at all. When he took over the club the team was 8 points behind 10th place, and at the end of the season they were 11. And are you saying I used wiki to get my info, because you are severely mistaken. Lets look at the stats of your mentioned "goal scorers" last year. Elmander: 3 goals, Blake 2 goals, Davies 7 goals, Petrov 4 goals. Davies is 33 and Blake 34 so both are almost at the end of their careers and Davies has only scored more than 10 goals in a season once. Petrov did play less last year, but he was at a better club which makes it easier to score, so will be interesting to see how he goes at a lower club.
On a different not, what club do you support Rob?

ah fair enough. tottenham should go well this year. you seem to know a fair bit about the epl though, which is good cos it will make for a good comp. so what do you think of the team i posted earlier in the thread?
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: RobsOverAchieverss on August 04, 2010, 05:39:23 PM
You aswell and i like your team i dont know Dorrans Never impressed me when i watch him get capped for Scotland i know he played well in CCC but i just dont think he will be able to dominate in midfield however still young and worth taking a risk cheap too.... there is a few uniques there which i like could pay off... J Cole will dominate this year IMO and i like the caroll pick, when i pick my team i will also be looking at J Beckford will definetly play for Everton and was lethal in CC2 but i think can perform in EPL.
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 04, 2010, 06:27:28 PM
yeah i think i will stick with dorrans mainly because he is cheap, obviously will be much harder for him against the stronger midfields but should hopefully still score a few goals and provide some assits. my only concern with cole is his injuries, if he keeps fit he will dominate. i don't think i will keep boateng in my team, mainly cos i'm not sure if he will start for man city, i'm waiting for kolarov to be added into the game then i will get him instead. you're right about beckford though he is a talent and with the supply from arteta, cahill and pienaar he should get some goals if given the chance. have you made your team yet or waiting till we are closer to the start?
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)

nah i make my team before deadline that allows for injuries and transfers ...whats your team name are you in the A League aswell or CCC one i started.
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 04, 2010, 07:15:54 PM
ah ok fair enough. i always make my team as soon as the comp opens and then over the coming weeks change it so much that usually only 1 or 2 people i had in the original team are still there!! my team name is the mighty ducks, and no i'm not in the a-league or CCC league, mainly because I don't know much about either. I watch a league occasionally but not enough to be any good at the fantasy

Fair enough... my star player goes by the name of rutger worm i really didnt want to say, i wanted to keephim a secret lol but i think he will be a star cant believe a player of his quality is in the A League, Played Nec and Was capped at international Level U21 and U19, Watched him on setanta sports in the eredivise and i think he is Quality.

someone else you could look at is Mame Biram Diouf. Just loaned out to blackburn from united. Should start most weeks and I reckon he could score a few goals. But i'm willing to bet that rob will disagree with me here since we have very different opinions when it comes to blackburn haha  ;D

on a side note what is everyone's opinions on lampard? and what i mean by that is is he worth just under 15 million? does anyone know what he needs to average to keep that price?

man utd haven't got any new awesome players.. maybe hernandez but he wont do much...

mine would be that aswell..

Chelsea/Man C/Liverpool

they have made big signings and Man U have gone the same team as last year..

Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)

Ferdinand is getting old... berba isnt doing much and rooney is injury prone..
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 08, 2010, 10:25:42 PM
city wont do as well as everyone thinks. it takes time for new players to gel together so maybe next season for them.also could you explain what big signings chelsea and liverpool have made. chelsea got benayoun who isn't exactly world class and lost joe cole. liverpool got cole and lost benayoun, also got jovanovic. none of these players are wolrd class.

rooney injury prone? not really, since he has joined man utd he has played at least 43 games each season. most players don't do that. i also feel that berba will have a better season than last, he still contributed 12 goals which is an alright return. hernandez will also add many more goals.

you say that they have an old squad but for keepers it doesn't matter, van der sar is one of the best keepers in the league. giggs and scholes are also miles ahead of many of the players in the league, england missed scholes at the world cup.

united also have some great youngsters who are either already in the first XI or very close: rafael, evans, fabio, anderson, rooney, nani, valencia, obertan, gibson, cleverley and hernandez. all these players are under the age of 25. as a whole the average age of the squad is 26.77 years, chelsea's is 26.26 which isn't that much younger and liverpool's is 23.93 which is by far the youngest, but you also need experience not just youth, which is where i think united have a good balance.

united's squad depth is better in my opinion. also if van der sar, cech and reina all got injured i would be much more comfortable having kuszczak in goals over turnbull, hilario or cavalieri.

if it wasn't for united's defensive injuries last year leaving them with one defender they would have one the league easily. however i have now noticed that i have started rambling so i will finish writing now and wait for your replies saying why i am wrong.

i know that elephants. i'm saying they will this year. history shows if united lose the league they win it back the following year: blackburn 95 - united 96, arsenal 98 - united 99, arsenal 02 - united 03. only time they didn't win it straight back was when arsenal won in 04

Crows Fc Wow i really think you could of provided a bit more detail i have a cold and a headache you could of shortned it a bit, ok where do i start...Man C need time to gel they have bought 4 players not a whole new team like Barca or Real Madrid and we all know how poorly they do on the world stage! Cole is a massive signing for liverpool takes alot of pressure of Gerrard in the centre of the park and is that bit of creative spark Liverpool need, Aquilani injured all season Gerrard and torres injuries didn't help and Rafa benitez and the offield dramas where the reason they didnt take 4th spot Roy Hodgson is one of the best Tacticallly English managers in the game. What do you mean Keepers doesnt matter of course it does he is  40 YRS old yes keepers can play till there 35 or 36 max they sold ronaldo didnt replace him...Berbatov is the most over-rated in the EPL and Man U showed no rooney no united last year. (PART1)
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: RobsOverAchieverss on August 08, 2010, 10:52:57 PM
Scholes and Giggs dont get me wrong in the 90's early 2000 where great players and will be remembered as tru greats but age is brutal in football if giggs had one outstanding attribute it was his Speed, he is lost that with age and scholes still the best passer in the game but doesn't have the stamina to run box to box, Man U have always had money or produced talent but granted there under 25's might be good and good prospects but valencia anderson hernandez and nani will not win utd silverware this year Chelsea might have players that are over 25-30 which brings the average age up i would prefer to have kalou malouda anelka and cole than players just mentioned.LOL because history said than man u win the title back every 2nd year doesnt mean they will, Man U wont spend as long as the Glaziers are still there and Fergie has lost the plot he can be stubborn and refusing to buy in this day and age will cost united.
Title: Re: Thoughts on My Teams (Virtualsports)
Post by: CrowsFan on August 08, 2010, 11:23:35 PM
Rob you do make some valid points, and maybe my arguing is a little biased as i am a united fan whereas you are coming from a neutral perspective since you support celtic and tottenham. But i honestly believe that the squad united has at the moment is stronger than the others in the league and will show it this season.

What I meant when I said keepers don't matter is when you look at squad age the keepers shouldn't be taken in to account because they can play for much longer. I'm sure this will be van der sars last season, but at the moment he still has the agility and shot stopping ability that is better than most.

In regards to the city issue it is true that they have only bought 4 players, but mancini says milner and balotelli will arrive by thursday. last year they bought many players and finished 6th. as much as it pains me to say it i do think they will become a very strong team i just don't think it will be this year.

i guess the first hint we will get of how the season will pan out is with the community shield tonight. i'm quite excited that there is less than a week to go before it all starts!

looks like a solid team to me. i like the cheap picks of nolan and carroll. not sure how often wallcott will play which could be a problem. who are you 3 bench defenders and keeper? because remember they score half points so you want people who will play and you can swap with your field players if you think they can do better in specific games

ok well pretty sure harper is first choice at newcastle so maybe look at either carson from west brom or one blackpool's keepers. not sure who is first choice there, but both are only 3 mil.
for defenders all of blackpool's are only 3 mil so you might as well pick people who will play to get the half points. baptiste played 42 times for them last year and got 3 goals so he should play again this year. crainey is another one who played 41 times so should also play.
