Title: WXV Round 11: Mighty Moscow
Post by: Purple 77 on May 29, 2018, 08:14:35 PM
Normal week :) a reminder that Port Adelaide and Gold Coast players count for this round, and not last week. This week is pure you might say!

Round 11, AFL Round 11

Home Team                             Away Team                             Venue                                                                                 Head-to-Head
Dublin DestroyersPNL ReindeersCrooke Park, EurAsia, Europe5  v  3

Christchurch SaintsBuenos Aires ArmadillosAMI Stadium, AAP Alliance2  v  1
Rio de Janeiro JaguarsNew York RevolutionMaracana Stadium, AAP Alliance, Americas3  v  2
Toronto WolvesMexico City SunsRogers Centre, AAP Alliance, Americas, North America Cup1  v  5
Moscow SpetsnazCairo SandsLuzhniki Stadium3  v  3

Dublin you feel should account for the Reindeers, despite a nervous struggle in progress against the Dillos.

Two former cellar dwellers-turned-finals certainties go head to head in a match-up full of history. I think New Delhi will get up.

Cape Town might be a sneaky chance here against the slightly misfiring Magpies. But perhaps those misfiring days are over with the return of Kelly? Seoul for me.

The Royals will continue to work on their development as the Islanders run to big score.

Easily Berlin's most despised team, with a history of performing well against me and also drafting Smith & Fritsch a pick before mine. Tokyo probably get up... they have a form-line suggesting they could very well do that.

Parker v Dow, Brayshaw & Cerra. Parker will win now, but not for much longer. Perhaps that's the trajectory for these two teams?

Rio has had a recent habit of having players go above a beyond being cancelled out by... passengers. I feel like the Revolution comparative team-wide consistency will be telling.

This week should be as easy as beating Mosc... oh. Suns, draw inspiration from them I say!

Without a doubt, this game is my MATCH OF THE ROUND! These two teams seem destined to be the highest scorers of the previous round; having blinders seemingly out of nowhere. It's almost comical that they'll be fighting each other to ensure they don't get the spoon. I'll back Cairo though, as they have had a few more 140+ scores than the Spetsnaz. Can this game be a 300+ blockbuster? I sure as hell hope so!

Has to be. The ramifications are enormous. I mean Cairo might finish 4th last instead of 3rd last if they win this one.

Big grudge match between NDT & Beijing! I've liked seeing how our two teams progress in comparison to one another over the past few years

Hurley should be back, feels like a 1500+ is due.   Not needed against London, but percentage is always important.

Wrong.

Moscow to finish 6th.

Big difference. Moscow have a decent list and were always capable of a score like that if everyone performed as they should. London do not and haven't scored 135+ since round 2 last year. They would need Titch and Laird to simultaneously tear their ACL's in the first minute of the game to have any chance at all, and even then I would still back in the Islanders.

Now prove me wrong Ringo.

Honestly London would be better off resting a starter and trying to win their next round.

A small lol that I'll have had 10 players play after the first two AFL games.

I give up - Shueyna late out and we have no mid coverage as Sheed listed as dropped so we get Rougheads half score of 33. May struggle to 1000 now.

Tigers HGA Triumph

Wowzer! That's two games New Delhi have won by HGA this year, which paints heartbreak for the Thunder. On reflection, this game deserved intense commentary, with captain Grundy reviving the seemingly dead Thunder. Alas, it was not enough.

New Delhi Tigers (21.10.136) def Beijing Thunder (21.9.135)

Best
New Delhi: Steele Sidebottom, Jack Ziebell, Stefan Martin, Sam Menegola
Beijing: Brandon Ellis, Lachie Neale, Callan Ward, Dayne Zorko, Brodie Grundy, Daniel Howe

Late Changes
New Delhi: Jack Darling subbed out for Harry Morrison

London looked up and about actually! What they would have given for Shuey to play, Jetta to be on the field and Lynch off it. Pacific meanwhile just did their thing.

Samurai squander attack on Bumbling Brewers

Berlin put in a stinker, where its only saving grace was a fortunate decision to stick the C on Gawn instead of Fyfe. The Samurai had more contributors than Berlin, but more passengers too, leaving Berlin with a lucky win.

Mighty Moscow tread on Solid Sands

Dafuq Moscow? What has been different between the last two weeks and the rest of the year? Has there been personnel changes? I'm not sure there has been? Please, tell. The Sands nearly did their part in getting this game up to 300+ points, but in any case, show it is certainly not a bottom 4 team.

In my defence, his form the month before didn't scream 'select me' and then he put up a 60+ score for the first time in a while and followed up this week with an 80, his best score all season.  :P

If Hall didn't get injured Cripps would have been the lowest scorer for Rio

Has a captain ever been lowest scorer before Purps?

It actually happens more often than you think. I've seen it happen at least once, maybe twice per year.

What a waste of a 158.

Dublins season starts this week, need a good back end of the year to make finals then will do some damage from outside the 4

I'm putting in a formal complaint.

Brayshaw scored 65. Half of that is 32.5

BA scored 1244.5

How is that 125 WXV points?

Percentage robbing on top of the crooked trade passing. Appalling.

Scoring

18. Scores are divided by 10 to better reflect the AFL's scoring system, and are rounded to nearest whole number.

18a. If rounded scores are the same, unrounded scores are used to determine the victor.

18b. If the unrounded scores are the same, the result is a draw.

18c. If a draw occurs in the finals, the team that finished higher on the ladder progresses.

18d. All bonuses/penalties are applied independently of each other.

18e. All rounding is UPWARDS, but done after all bonus/penalties are applied to a player.
