Title: Australia (A) vs Sri Lanka (3 T20's)
Post by: BratPack on February 01, 2017, 01:35:04 PM
Squad Aaron Finch (capt), Michael Klinger, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Moises Henriques, Ashton Turner, Tim Paine (wk), James Faulkner, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye, Jhye Richardson, Billy Stanlake.

A decent squad, nice to see Klings finally get his chance but you really couldn't find room for the leading run scorer (Dunk) or the leading wicket taker (Abbott) in the BBL? In what is basically Australia flowering A? Really?

I think the selectors didnt pick Abbott because of strike rate and the caliber of wickets he took

Ben Dunk comes into the squad for Chris Lynn, who's still injured.

Will watch until Maxy gets out, then flick to the footy:)
Might change back if Turner gets a bat!

Thought we had this one on toast but Gunarathne had other ideas. Brilliant innings, at the death amazing. Well done Sri Lanka bloody well done.  :o

Gunarathne would be a great pick up by any BBL franchise. He did the same in the first match as well. Brilliant innings both games.

Anyone else the dismissal of Martin in the ladies match. Never seen anything like it and doubt if will again. Was given out bowled in the end classed as playing on despite the fact it was second hit.

Haha wow, just saw it. That's pretty unlucky.

Even with a fair few players missing, Cummins shouldn't be playing international cricket tbh

Scorchers have 5 quicks far better than Cummins (Dorff, Tye, Johnno, Paris, Richardson, Coults) :P

Where should I start? :-\

Despite also buying the Cummins hype, he's very good at short form cricket and is the best pace bowler Australia have available for this series.

Tye is massively over-rated in the national scene and I see he's been rightfully dropped for this match. Hasn't taken an opportunity at this level in 5 home T20Is.

I'll just isolate 2017 statistics
ODIs: 3/33, 0/48, 1/42, 1/45, 2/60, 2/67, 1/47 (not world beater opposition too) - 10 wickets at 34.2
T20s: 1/29, 1/28 - 2 wickets at 28.5
BBL: 2/36, 1/38, 1/28 - 4 wickets at 25.5

Are those the stats of a player who deserves extended stretches in both short-form international teams? Nope.

But at least he's better than James Pattinson.

Also, Klinger when batting looks like the young Willy Wonka (with the braces headgear) in the 2005 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Just look.

That's an absolute beauty of a catch by Kapugedera, that's just about as good as they get.

Yet you suggest Tye. You like numbers, check out his T20I numbers.

I never suggested Tye deserves to be playing international cricket. I just said he's better than Cummins, which he is.
