Whats everyone doing this week? I'm in the top 250 so looking to make more aggressive moves. I think Byrne will definitely come into my team with my first trade, possible Hewett or Mills out via DPP. Unsure of 2nd trade as yet.
I had to get rid of spud harwood so Harwood to Ruggles for me. Waiting on teams for second trade.
So far heading into round 4 i've gone Marcus Adams to move forward, then seedsman out of mids to defense which then allowed me to trade out seedsman for ruggles for the $$. As for the second trade, i went sam gray to zach merrett (i know it seems a bit of a waste trading out gray) but that also frees up 150k for next week to "HOPEFULLY" get in goldy lol.
thoughts?

I want to play the game where trading Gray to Zerrett nets me 150K too, but I don't think it exists! :o
Can afford Mills to Duncan at the moment which I'm considering as Geelong should smash the Bombers this week and I need to get Mills off my field.
Would like to downgrade Menadue so hopefully some options crop up on Thursday night
Hewett -> Byrne
and
Mills -> Caleb Daniels at this stage...

I think I might trade out Hewett, move Wells to my mids, Adams to my forward and then bring in Byrne. Lets me play Ruggles at D6 for a week or two where I think he can do well enough. Second trade will probably upgrade Mills to a premo mid or forward - maybe Franklin or spend a bit more and get someone like Jelwood/Zaha for my M6. That'd leave me with just Menadue or Davis at my M8 with Hunter and Wells in my mids.

Haha, think this is close to 2 weeks in a row we've made similar moves, although I pushed Adams forward last week! Byrne in for sure, not sure about my 2nd but leaning towards Caleb Daniel who I've liked all pre season and is getting better with each week.

Being a Doggies supporter I've been a big fan of him for ages. I've got a mate who plays for South in the SANFL who is friends with him so I've been watching him for quite a while, it's great to see him doing well. I don't see why we shouldn't consider him at his price and how well he is playing, especially as a forward.

Thanks for that info, haven't decided if thats what I'm going to do yet, I might just double downgrade if theres nothing else available, but I do like him, just don't like go after another mid pricer…it's prob worth the risk in this format.

I'm sorta in the same boat. I have $508k in my bank if I go to trade out Mills. Trying to decide whether to go for a fallen premo (Jelwood), a price riser like Zaha, a forward like Gray or Franklin or a backman, perhaps Docherty? Tough choice this week. May even do the same and downgrade Caff on my pine in order to upgrade Mills next week for someone like Steven.

I was going to try and bring in Priddis, but don't have enough cash, then I looked at his next 4 games and he scored under 100 against all 4 teams last year..think I'll wait on him!
Mckenzie to Ruggles
And
Miles to Hall
Miles POD experiment ends now
Mitch Brown to Ruggles, chasing more cash!
Think Lobbe or Libatore might have to be the ones to leave the team this week, was hoping they would be better than they have been.
Like the look of Lobbe to Goldstein after dropping 30k in value so making use of that and probably even captaining him versing freo with no ruckman, should cover his b/e easily.
Liba would go to the likes of Merret (Missed the boat?), Zaha or Scully or possibly one of the big guys like the Mitchells or Steven.
The key to AF for me is to get the most bang for your buck early. Get those fallen prems, mid to slightly higher priced players killing it into your team asap and get rid of the rooks/players scoring poorly off your field asap then in the second half of the year trade your onfield mid price to higher priced players to the ultra premiums. You really need to be aiming to be full all over the ground by the byes or around the end of them as best as possible then use what rooks are available in the remaining rounds to get those performing less than your other players to those must haves. If you try to keep bringing in the best of the best early it takes to long to fill up and you end up getting left to far behind if your looking to rank well overall.
If you're only about winning leagues then buy the best you can afford. Will take you longer to fill up but you'll more than likely have a stronger team when it's done.
Going for league wins and not focussed on overall.
I was looking at trading 2 of Harwood/Mills/Hewett to C Byrne and another rookie. This would leave me about $200k in the bank.
However, I am also thinking of trading 1 or Mills/Hewett to C. Byrne via DPP and going 1 of Jacobs/Gawn to Goldy.

Wait, what? You're moving Wells already?
Yes, yes I am.
Wells will make a bit more money but his usefulness to me has ended.
At this stage I think I'm going to bench Hewett to M10 to downgrade him next week, either play Menadue or Davis at M8 and then trade Mills up to Duncan and downgrade Caff to Byrne through DPP. Leaves me with $79k for next week.

Surely better to get him cheap now, then swing him back? I'm set on Duncan anyway, but I hadn't thought about the def status at all. Would make even more sense to bring him into my mids now and swing him back later...whats his heat map like?

Depends what his BE, I'm assuming it's low though so could get a good time to get him.
I saw it on twitter his season heat map but can't find it now but I found his from Friday's game.
If I remember correctly the DT Talk boys hinted he could be one come round 6 to get dpp status.
I'd send a tweet to Warne Dog and ask him, he's usually on the money with these questions.

Lol ask and though shall receive, well done FF. ;)
Just remember though as we have seen Heat Maps are not the guidelines for DPP. Do not want to b e a wet blanket but remember all the heat maps from last year that did not translate into DPP.

Need some advice please:
So with my second trade im left with 3 options and need to decide on 1.
Option 1: Hannebery > Sam Mitchell/Luke parker (Jumping off a sinking ship and securing a premium mid for the year)
Option 2: Nick Graham > Matt Rosa (Meaning I will get a premium back to swap via DPP next week)
Option 3: L McCarthy > L Sumner (Quick cash grab)
Thanks heaps in advnace guys, arghh I am struggling with my trades this week.

I was thinking option 2 was the best as Nick Graham has been less than impressive, same as Hannebery.

Am I making a mistake with this trade??
So far I have traded Mills to Byrne via DPP link and McCarthy to Caleb Daniel... Cant afford it without trading Mills this week...
Problem/ready to go soon rookies.
I have Harwood, Hartley as my def emergency
Mills, Hewett and R. Davis in my mids.
McCarthy, Papley, Kommer, Menadue as my fwds.
Thinking next week ill trade Hewett to Sumner if he performs.

First time I needed it this year it took me 5 minutes to remember how to do it and iv'e been playing since it started.
Not a great system they use, keep it simple stupid is always the best system, the k.i.s.s method is the best method lol. For me anyway. :P
Ended up going Mills to Ruggles and Crouch to Parker
Hewett to Ruggles
Crouch to Zaha
keeping what cash I have saved for next week, could of bought better but if Zaha can maintain 100 avg from here to the byes atleast , i'll be content with that.

Did similar, traded M.Brown instead of Hewett for Ruggles.
Got Zaha in as well for Crouch, didn't have the guts to pick him in limited trade formats and didn't want to miss out if he keeps this up so got him in AF.
130k left for an upgrade/downgrade next week hopefully.

Hoping next week I can grab one of the elite mids by going Zaha this week, I could miss by a few grand though that's the worry.
If I do a double downgrade next week i'll grab them the week after and have another bank account building.
Get them rookies off your field and the midpricers failing us (Crouch) your worst scorers out and find a guy that can do a job for awhile.
Fill up asap is what it's about then start going sideways to the best of the best on any line. Use the rookies coming in to build a bank account because we'll probably see more rookies early than later in the year if you can't make a substantial improvement to your team in any week but keep the gems making cash fast, they fast track you to better things.
Late in the season you sell your grandmother to find cash haha i'm not lying the kids too, a bench don't matter you need one guy to get some points if you have a late out and trade the player if misses another, two trades a week you gotta make them count.
Wasn't a fan of AF early days but it's grown on me, takes some homework to get it right. I have the plan I think but haven't executed it well enough, rank ok except for last year(won't talk about it) but i'm not getting it done at the pointy end 300- 500 overall is a long way off.
I watched the guys team that won it last year from round 6 or 7, he played it perfectly and from round 11 he was full up it was his to lose he did it that easy. Then he went sideways to the best 2nd half of the year. I was convinced haha.
The thing I hate the most is the week you have to sideways a prem through injury, you hold in the 30 trade comps if it's only temporary, here it hurts you more it's a wasted trade , it's a trade your not making cash or improving I dislike it lol.
If you can't bring in a better player how can you make money should be your primary thought every week.
Still hold faith in the plan but haven't nailed the starting team again this year. Not out of the question but i'll need to nail it from here for sure. A good rank, beat Dudge will have to do haha.
Not happy really, with all the midpricers this year, there was a big opportunity to nail the starting team I felt but still got some wrong, Hunter and Duncan good, Crouch brothers BAD (start Zaha in ones place :o ), Lonergan over Rosa ( to be fair Rosa didn't play round 1) Hall very good starter.
Barlow cough cough start Zerret instead. Could of done alot better with the starting team AGAIN.

Johannisen, Biggs, Rance, Adams, Gwilt, Dea
Smitchell, Hunter, Zaharakis, Scully, Ross, W Langford, Oxley, Parish
Naitanui and Hickey/Roughead
ZMerrett, Tippett, Hall, TJ Lynch, Daniel, Lambert
I think that would have fit under the cap
all decently ranked by overall points so far (NOT including Sunday's games in rd4 as they haven't been played)

Yep something like that would of been sweet, time machine is that's need now.
We need to get Rnd 5 Trades up and running :'( , I wanted a double downgrade this week. Fat chance that'll happen now more sideways stuff again with JJ and possibly Martin (Lions) if he doesn't get up. Longer and Seedsman are surviving the chop chop because of other dramas every week. 5 trades wasted on injuries going sideways out of 10 trades available for five rounds has kept/keeping them in and I want them OUT. Get out, no the other door, no not that one the other one, NO the other arghhh just forget it ya flogs.
