Was hoping the rucks would be a set and forget season lock for me, however Stefan Martin has been disappointing week after week...
In a brisbane team that seems to continue to struggle do you think Martin is worth keeping for the long haul?
Spend some cash and take on Goldstein who looks to continue last years scores?
Or switch to the likes of Blicavs, Nic Nat or Mumford who are playing in teams who can contend finals and have more to play for?
The cap on rotations seems to have had an affect on a few we believed to be elite. It's to small a sample size as yet to gauge what really is going on. Goldy a week ago was average himself. I'd be waiting for more games so we can gauge what is really happening rather than guessing because at the minute that's all we're doing. By all means grab Goldy but I wouldn't be going sideways with Martin to do it just yet, surely you have bigger issues than Martin at the minute.
3 games, Lions getting pumped, weakened midfield around him. Go on trade him then. ::)
He often gets his +6s from guys like Rockliff because they take the extra time to look for him. The young lions seem to panic with the ball and just look to move it on without looking for the options. Plenty of times today Big Stef was open for a short 20-25m kick but the Lions player rushed and just kicked it long. When Zorko, Rockliff and Hanley are all playing together - Martin will get more +6s and his scores will go up.....who knows how long you have to wait for that though.
If you've paid the money for him I would suggest keep him. Brisbane will be better once they get their midfield back.
Lions bias I know but we knew of Brisbanes horror start to the season. He has nad Nic Nat, Goldy and then doble teamed with Stanley and Zac Smith to start the season. I will start to worry if he does not get a decent score against Tom Nicholls this week.
I paid up for him and intend keeping him as when Brisbane get the gun midfield back expect some decent scoring - This midfield may be only 2 weeks away Beams, Rocky, Zorko, Rich, Bastinac, Hanley and Robbo.
im in the same boat, but am def going to to hold him. He is quality. It was 50/50 at start of season between him and goldy and unforunately i went martin. No point getting rid of him now and losing cash, keep him, he can "hopefully" only go up from here!
Apart from goldy, there arent really any other rucks setting the world on fire at the moment anyway.
Trade him out, I want to rise a few places :P
Keeping the faith 8)
I'm in the boat with the others on here and will keep him since I paid top dollar for him... He will come good and yes the changes made by the league (rotations) have hurt some.
Brisbane Lions ruckman Stefan Martin could play this weekend after Steven May hit

Brisbane Lions coach Justin Leppitsch said he was satisfied with the tribunal's decision to suspend Gold Coast Suns defender Steven May for five matches on Tuesday night, after his heavy hit on Lions ruckman Stefan Martin.
"I think it was done professionally and I think most people in the media who [actually] put a number out there were pretty close to the end result; that's pretty consistent with what has happened in the game," he said.
"These are things for the game [to decide], not me as coach. It's about eliminating [head-high contact] from the game.

"It could have been us on the receiving end; it could have been anybody. Once the action stopped, it's all about Stef's welfare us from the game forward, it has nothing to do with us at all, apart from that."

Martin has passed all concussion tests this week and trained with the main group on Thursday. Leppitsch said provided he was cleared by doctors, he was likely to take his place in the line-up against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.
Leppitsch revealed that Martin, a law student, had been sitting in on a murder trial during the week.
"All week he's like, 'I'm fine, I'm fine.' Actually he's doing his uni at the moment, he's been sitting in a courtroom, on a murder trial, so that's a good sign that mentally he's with it at the moment and he's OK.
"He's in good spirits. He's just got to get through the training session today."
The Lions are set to be further buoyed by the return of captain Tom Rockliff, who has been sidelined by a calf injury he sustained against North Melbourne in round two.
Sounds as though he will be good to go...
Hopefully he's good to go, don't want to play Frosty

Rather play Frosty than Doughnut-boy
From Brisbane - Final decision on Martins concussion will be made tonight. Currie and Cox will provide a suitable sub for one week if required as both look like being named tonight.

I'd say he'll play looking at the emergencies, they haven't taken a ruck back up. Closest thing to a tall in their emergencies is Daniel McStay.

Just remember Josh Walker was more than serviceable last week when Martin went off, So I am still not 100% sure. And as luck would have it have Cox and Currie on bench. Expect Currie though to get some assistance from Wright as can not see going solo against Goldy for whole game.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I'm not really sure what to do with my other trade, it's either Barlow or Stef that goes for me. I might just go Stef to Goldy to put my mind as ease, he's scoring better anyway.
