Last weeks win saw the Berlin Brewers guarantee themselves a spot in the finals; its second appearance in the competitions 4 year existence and first since 2013. The Brewers were perhaps expected to be a team that may challenge for a spot in the finals at the start of the year, but have surprised most in being the 4th highest scoring team of the year and established themselves as an outside chance, yes a small chance, at a premiership. Although they cannot surpass their current standing of 5th on the ladder, they still have the potential to drop down to 7th, so there is still importance to win this match to gain its first ever home final. Toronto has the best percentage outside of the top 8, even better than the 8th placed Moscow, with they themselves sitting at the dreaded 9th position. A win is a non-negotiable. A loss will end a solid season featuring a bad form slump, a win would force Moscow to win themselves to stay in the eight. It is now that I point to Toronto's loss against Cairo as being so incredibly costly, and even the losses against Beijing and Tokyo. All the same, Berlin will go into this match as favourites, but the Wolves will go in the most desperate. Will back my Brewers in... Toronto would be praying Fyfe doesn't get up for this one.
London joined the 160 club last week... perhaps the absence of pressure of fighting for finals was a factor? Still, as the team that has beaten Dublin and PNL but defeated by bottom 6 teams Seoul and Beijing, the inconsistency is greater in no other team. That being said, Christchurch would be wary of the giant killing Royals, which although a defeat will unmove them from 4th on the ladder, a victory may get them into 3rd and avoid facing Dublin straight up in the qualifying final. This game is very important for the Saints, and the Royals would be aware of that, and would love nothing more than to make life harder for Christchurch. Had these two teams played each other every week of the season, perhaps surprisingly is that London would lead 9-7! That just exemplifies London's variation, and Christchurch's stability... huh, probably the most consistently good team plays the most inconsistently good team of the comp... that's pretty cool. London scored 160 last week, so the trend suggests a Christchurch win... who I am to go against the trend?
This is possibly the match we have all been waiting for; almost cruel to schedule it on the last round of the year and make everyone wait 17 weeks! The two highest scoring teams of the season and ladder go head to go in last year's Grand Final rematch (and possibly this year's preview), and its gonna be AWESOME! The Destroyers have top spot secured, so there is nothing to lose in that regard. Mexico City sit second with the potential to drop to 4th, and face Dublin all over again next week, so there is something to play for in that regard! Something both teams will be playing for is 1) bragging rights and 2) The World Idol! Yes, these two teams are the last standing in the simple knock-out comp, which Mexico City were close at time from being eliminated from when it struggled briefly in the early part of the season. The Suns would be very glad to boast HGA in every facet of this game, that is for sure. In the last 4 weeks, Dublin have scored 677 points at an average of 169.25 (3 away games) compared to Mexico City's 653 at 163.25 (3 home games), so Dublin do enter as the form team, but both are the form teams of the comp and the perfect end of the season. Who will win? Well the probabilities suggest Dublin... and that is who I will tip. Sure would love the Suns to win though :P.
What's that I hear? You say how could I possibly overlook the above game as my match of the round? Well dear coach, it's because it hardly matters in the scheme of things. This is the match with the consequences, and is clearly my MATCH OF THE ROUND! Moscow have lost three on the trot; dropping from 5th, looking crazy consistent and challenging for a spot in the 4 to in danger of missing a place in the finals! Fortunately, their last game of the season is close to un-lose-able; at home and playing the second lowest scoring team of the year whom have never played a genuine ruckman in 2015. If the universe truly hated Moscow and Buenos Aires were to win, then it would open the door for Toronto, Tokyo or Cape Town to kick them out and take the last place in finals. Buenos Aires will have never had so much support this week. Had these two teams played against each other every week this year, Moscow would be leading 15-1, BUT, that one loss would have happened just 2 weeks ago! Also, Buenos Aires' best of 133 would have beaten Moscow 4 times this year... it's not impossibly, just highly unlikely. Moscow should win here.
New Delhi's season of hell is almost finished, with a wooden spoon ready to be posted to them in the mail. The Tigers have 6 times scored less than 100, 4 times 100-110, 2 times 110-120, 2 times 120-130, 1 time between 130-140 and one 142. Injuries have been the major villain to the Tigers season; often crippling any chance of competing, evident by Mumbai also being the lowest scoring reserves team and winless. But, that win against Cairo was pretty special, wasn't it? With a priority pick coming the tigers way, things are looking up for a successful off-season to bring this team back up to competing levels and leaving their worst season behind them. Beijing have been a real feel good story this year; coming from cellar last year to getting as high as 5th after Round 7! But they hit the wall after that, only winning one more game since and a disaster loss here away from Rio condemning them to the bottom 4. I've said for a while now that New Delhi have got one more win in them, and this is their last chance. But the Tigers gotta pull something special out, as the Thunder have been eerily consistent in the past 7 weeks, not once dipping below 130 or exceeding 140. I've been told this was becoming a habit with me talking NDT up only to tip against them, so I bloody will now! COME ON TIGERS!
The Reindeers... who would have thought ey? The team whom always had quality amongst their ranks, but cursed with an almost cruel run of luck, year in, year out. Not this year though. This year they are an established powerhouse and a genuine shot at the premiership... they are the equal second highest scoring team of the year you know! The Reindeers lost last week against the Suns which would have hurt their pride/confidence somewhat, but they still scored 154 in the process and didn't do their reputation any harm. It's almost a case of cruel irony for Cape Town; the team that beat PNL in the elimination final last year, only now PNL would rise further next year and be the team likely to put the nail in the coffin for the Cobras season. The Cobras put everything into last weeks inspired win against the Spetsnaz in what looked like an last ditch attempt at finals. As previously mentioned, the Cobras are relying on Buenos Aires beating Moscow and counting on themselves beating PNL by enough to eclipse the percentage of its competitors for the final spot... it's probably not gonna happen. It's now that Cape Town's poor start to the season costs them, where they lost the opening 3 matches against Berlin, Toronto and London. No matter how you shape it, this year has been disappointing for the Cobras, and I'll tip that PNL ends it for them.
This game is all about pride; and both teams have cases of wanting it more than the other. I will unofficially say now that Rio has been the most unluckiest team of the year; the 6th highest scoring team of the year, GAJ-less for most of it, sits 5-11 and 15th on the ladder. Dayum. Cairo, or Karen as it is affectionally called, is a proud club whom has endured its worst season of its history, sitting 2-14 and 16th... probably rightfully so, being the 3rd lowest scoring team of the year. But that was probably due to having a chunk of its best players missing games for significant periods of time, and other hindrances unforeseen. Cairo is also coming off (I'm assuming) its worst 3 weeks of WXVs ever, registering a combined 312 points in this time. But,that's life I suppose (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlBiLNN1NhQ). At least Hugh Goddard and Jack Lonie has received rising star nominations this year! On that stat alone you'd think Rio would have this in the bag, but you know what their luck has been like. The Jags for me.
I reckon Seoul has been the ying-yang team of the season. Unlike Beijing who have their wins grouped on one half of the season, Seoul actually look like a different team since say, Round 8. In the first eight rounds, they averaged 126 with a high of 134, netting them a lucky 3 wins. In the 8 rounds after that, Seoul have averaged 135 with a high of 149 netting them 4 wins, and the Asian Cup. It's crazy. I said day one of this year that I liked Seoul's list, and I still do, coz they have a young core with great, great potential on every line! They probably don't have to do any trading you know to challenge for finals next year, especially with Patrick Dangerfield leading the way. New York has capped off its finest season by guaranteeing a place in finals last week in what will be its first ever appearance! The new coaches must be al-right over at New York ;). Seoul are out of the finals race, and New York are guaranteed a spot, so the stakes are fairly non-existent. But, a win for the Revolution would give them the best chance to surpass their current spot at 7th and book a home elimination final, so there is still something to play for! New York for mine.
The Samurai I reckon have been the most under-the-radar team of the year IMO. No low enough to criticise, not high enough to heap on pressure... just one of these middle-tier teams that most seemed to have missed could still make finals! Heck, if they beat Seoul 2 weeks ago like they perhaps should have, they'd be in the eight right now probably! Tokyo are in the same boat as Toronto and Cape Town, so all they can control now is trying to get a win and put the pressure on Moscow to beat Buenos Aires. But their opponent has been playing inspired football for a good month now, and have guaranteed themselves a place in finals for the first time ever! Well done Pacific! I made a really big deal out of this at the time, but it all began when the Islanders beat the Revolution in Round 14... that game was so vital, and got them into the finals if you ask me. Actually, the Islanders have won 5 on the trot, including last weeks impressive win over Seoul with a handful of its core XV out! They'd be nervously awaiting their return for next week, that is for sure. The Islanders sit 6th, so a win will give them a home elimination final, which could be very important for them so they wouldn't want to lose this one. But, I think I'm actually gonna back the home team in Tokyo!
Buenos Aires was the last team to be mentioned in the Game thread title... perfectly timed if you ask me!
What a jip 1 v 2 and not the match of the round
Its the match of the home and away season purp.
Feels a bit strange this week, this is the first game in Wolves history where I don't really have anything to play for :-\

you can still mathemtically make finals all you can do is win and hope the rest falls your way.
Pendles might want to move to a finals team.
Sorry for the noob question, but with finals starting next week can we rest a player this week?

Realistically though, with no attacks left and no Douglas I won't beat Berlin, and Moscow simply won't lose
I'm okay for ruckmen at this stage, but I'll make sure to let you know :)

^^ for everyone.
Our players have found form at the wrong end of the season.
At least we are seeing some good signs from our young kids though. That's a positive at least.
And, the fact we can go out with a banging win against PNL who like Moscow are one of our bunny teams ... especially in finals :P. Naming an early team just in case I'm not around at lockout on Friday.

please finish second or third, im only worried im most worried about Mexico and would love to play them round 1 where I win and dont have to face them till the grand final or lose and still surive to fight another day and dont have to play them till the final.
I really dont want you to finish 4th, as despite locking in a Prelim final in means I have PNL or Mexico in that game.

You haven't mate from what I can see however I can see two players in your team who are playing who you could have in the side instead of Jono Freeman as an emergency. Freeman is out for the season I think.
Their names are
Dale Morris and Robin Nahas :).
Who knows, you might even want to consider them as starters if you've missed them...
Nahas is on your rookie list but you must be able to upgrade him if you haven't already with LTI's to Michael Close and Jono Freeman.
I know there isn't anyone left, but if you could still name 3 emergencies Nige, it would save me having to name them :)
I'll be nice to you in the next preview! hehe, you'll be waiting a while....

I was going to, but then you went said that bit in size 4, you meanie. >:(

Dammit, no Fyfe! :(
He better be back next week, otherwise I'm not gonna last long :-\

LOL!
Naitanui out for Moscow!
:(
And another thing that will screw us over that we have absolutely no control over (the previous being Josh Thomas' suspension).
If we lose because of this, I'm calling shenanigans.
Maybe you shouldn't have traded your mate out of the squad.

Just noticed you have two Smith's and two Jeremy's :P
That's pretty awesome lol
Alright.
I withdraw my affection for Seoul. I hate you so very much.
ON THE LAST DAMN ROUND!
I can't believe it, I thought I made it through the whole damn year!
You cost me bragging rights over os, omg I can't believe it...
*takes deep breath*
I suppose its OK :P. But yeah, you get an official strike for not naming your team, but it doesn't matter I suppose seeing as it is your last game... just be sure to name it Round 1, otherwise you get a premiership point deducted for next year.
Oh well, 305 out of 306 ain't that bad

Yes indeed, an absolutely tremendous job coaches! Thanks very much for being awesome :D
Team submission stuff:
@Seoul, as previously mentioned, you didn't name a team. I named a team for you based on preferences, you'll see it in the next score update.
@Tokyo, you named Gleeson at U1 and E2, so I moved Frost up to E2, and on preferences your E3 is Charlie Cameron.
6 OOP's this week... poor Cairo.
Just David Mundy (Dublin) getting the rest bonus this week.
After last night...
Dublin off a to a flier, the opposite can be said about Mexico City :-\

Conveniently left out the bit where I said
"but in the odd chance he does well
i can salvage something from this week
it was breust, mcgovern or hugh"
We hadn't used CCs in a while and it's the last week where we've got nothing wrong to lose. Breust has the best average of all our players this week as well, I looked into that, hardly tanking.
Just realised I have no players in my starting XV playing in the first 3 AFL games...

At this stage I think Matt Maguire would probably score more than Toovey this week anyway :P
Thank you Schoenemakers.
the F/D is definatly worth it with subs.
Shaz was sub and hansen in a sub risk.
Shaz is such a super star.
4 kicks 5 handballs 3 tackles with 1 clearance in a quarter.
he better be a superstar because the guy I traded him for just pumped out a 168.

fair call.
meant swanny.
Taberner is down from what I expected but he has only just turned 20 and is getting games at the top side in the comp, even though alot of vests.
in the games he has played in full he is going
79 56 47 48 51 45 so yes not that good but I didnt see Pav having this good a year.
It must be noted in the game Pav missed last year Taberner did go 102.
I think he is cheap on the trade value at the moment and would go after him but im not going to do that. So this is a word of advice keep Taberner. He is still a good fantasy player to mature on your bench.
Martin just hasnt got games he showed his ability with a 87 point game on just 13 touches and a 61 point game just playing 3/4

Taberner has "just" turned 20. Two years ago!

Who? Brodie Martin or Matthew Taberner?
I'm waiting until Pav retires before judging this trade. He could take over and go big.
I was just pulling Holz up on his blatant lie.
Taberner has "just" turned 20. Two years ago!
And Shag has scored 81 SC points in his career...

Fan Footy has him as 4 Apr 1995. Upon further research its actually 17 June 1993.
I trust Fan footy as its where I get all my ages from.
i might focus on the positives of the guys im trading out and focus on the negatives of the guys im trading in, but I never lie, sometimes my info isn't correct (but thats only if FF is wrong).

Oh man... if Buenos Aires VC in Wallis was in fact the C, and Adams was the VC instead of C, I reckon the Dillos would have been a genuine shot at beating Moscow :-X

As a gesture of good faith you should let us have him over Stratton who is yet to play.
And to rub it in, Hutch is killing it early...

the swan comment was based on i traded scharenberg for swan and it got rejected. than swan got forward status, he caught form and turned back into a gun.
Amazingly Jelly has just played himself into Dublin finals captaincy again.

poor Cairo :( but if you had so few players you had to name an AFL emergency a WXV emergency, you should've named him in your starting 15. Sorry, that one isnt bad luck
Omg, Moscow can seriously lose this game! Stay tuned!

Mitch Robbo and Aaron Hall - two of my favourite whipping boys - averaging 111 and 110 respectively the last 3 weeks!
Nailed the CC choices and we should crack 100, not bad considering 3 OOP mids. :P
Stop. The Presses.
Despite Buenos Aires Captain Taylor Adams receiving the red vest in the 3rd Quarter for 40 points, the are still a genuine chance!
Factor in Moscow's HGA (31), the Dillos are 292 points ahead with 4 players extra (if you count captain twice).
It is unlikely yes, but if Moscows' players continue this standard, then the Dillos could win!
Oh so unlucky for Adams
Jarrad Grant and Sam Darley thank you very much. About time Darley got a game to show what he can do
Im calling it
Goldy has turned up its over
Goddard Harvey Nroo + 262
v
Tmac Mundy (1.1) Walters NDS + Goldy (C)
goldy should catch the margin up so its 4.1 v 3
Tmac started really slow but im really liking what I saw in the last 10 minutes. 3 kicks 1 handball 2 marks over that time. Ended up on 29SC after just 1 handball for the first half of the quarter. geez that guy has SC scoring power when he is on.
Yep all over, see you next week Holz.

hopefully you get lids back and I get murphy and buddy back so we are almost full strengh.
Whats amazing is im finally not Runnerup in the world Idol. It was going to be every single year.
Tmac on the surface had a very quiet day disposal, mark and tackles wise. But going through the advanced stats i have worked out why he scores soo well.
55 DT and 101 SC
but
8, 1% (1st in the game)
4 Rebound 50s (1st in the game)
2 inside 50s (tied 8th in the game)
for not that great a game its a pretty solid score.
He is top 5 in the comp in both Rebound 50s and 1% this year and thats SC gold.
just needed an extra touch or 2, 1-2 more marks and drop his clangers abit and he could have gone huge today.
Disastrous game for me in Melb v North.
Reckon Toronto have the win!

Take off 8 for 1% and he stillgot 91 out of knowehere

I probably could if I watched the game. This isn't DT. Plenty of stats don't show up in the simple stats. First of all, possessions won inside the 50's are worth more than those won between the arcs. A contested knock on is worth 4 points. A spoil gaining possession is worth 3 points etc. A kick long to advantage is worth 5 instead of the usual 3 for an effective kick. You could do some research and actually find out how players score, or you could make stuff up, or you could just say it's rigged like everyone else. Most people still don't know that a loose ball get is a contested possession.
R50's is not a scoring stat in SC and never has been.

I just go on finding patterns in player scoring. Has worked pretty well.
Thanks for the technical advice though meow.
I just saw a young Alex Rance in tmac so thats all I used in predicting his Sc ability.
Toronto Season Finishes in Style
The Wolves' centurions were magnificent in this game, and the I don't think anyone doubted that the Wolves had a good core of players... it was just the 12th-15th men that let them down. Meanwhile, the Brewers will say that took it easier in preparation for next week, but would be dirty at way too many players scoring below 70. The Wolves exit the competition, ruing what could have been (all came back to that loss against Cairo).

Dublin: The H&A Kings
Well, if there was any doubt, its gone now. The Destroyers were clearly the best team of the season to date, notching up the most points scored, the minor priemership, the EurAsia Cup, the European Cup and now the World Idol! But... can it win the premiership? I'm sure they'd trade all those accolades for it. This was a game that cracked the 300-point barrier to no one's surprise, and it probably will again next week as Mexico City travels to Crooke Park for the Qualifying Final!

Four Teams gutted, Moscow Relief
This got ridiculously close. What is worth mentioning is, had the Dillos captained Wallis instead of Adams, they would have won by two SC points! Absolutely crazy! Just, crazy! With this, Moscow has got themselves a place in the finals, to the disappointment of Toronto, Cape Town and Tokyo. I tell ya what though, they are looking very ordinary at the moment. For Buenos Aires... I don't think they could trade for a ruckman quick enough. Their worst ever season is finally over.

Beijing save best for Last
Well, their second best anyway. The Thunder finally broke the 140 barrier for the first time since round 6, and broke their 6 game losing streak. This was a season full of nothing but positive for the Thunder, and would certainly mark it as a success. The next step is finals 2016! Well, the complete opposite can be said for New Delhi... thank god its over. At least they can look back at that Cairo win :).

Reindeers "Sleigh" Cobras; Ready for Finals
I cannot believe I haven't used that pun in 17 Rounds... I should be sacked. Anyway, the Reindeers were their dominant selves, topping off their best season ever to finish as runner-ups to the Minor premiership, well done! But, will their demons of old resurface under finals pressure? Or have they well and truly banished them? For Cape Town, they'd be ruing a slow start to the season as the main reason of not challenging for finals, in an otherwise disappointing season. It's not often they don't make finals. I'm sure they'll be back for the challenge next year.

Rio Remind of What Could/Should Have Been
This Jaguars outfit is the real deal, its an atrocity that they'll finish in the bottom end of the ladder, I tell ya what. The Jaguars would be frustrated with their luck, but at least they can walk away with the season with genuine hope at challenging for finals next year; they have a core, at Rio. For Cairo, this was a season from hell; from Round 2 to finish. They'd be glad its over. But, they have been unlucky, and they still do have a solid core of players that you can build a challenge for finals around next year. They're in good hands at Cairo, they'll be better next year.

Seoul's Ying-Yang Season Over; Revolution Soldier On
Despite not naming a team (I really hate you for that :P), Seoul have continued their mid-season transformation in dispatching the Revolution with relative ease. The team at Seoul I guess just didn't click at the start of the year, as really I quite rated them from day 1... they'd go into next year probably not having to change much, and they'd challenge for finals I reckon. Still, they're season is over, but they'd be encouraged. The Revolution would maybe be slightly concerned with its last month, but their season has been outstanding and will make their first ever finals appearance. An A+ for improvement!

Islanders Prepare Welcoming Pikes for Home Final
The Islanders season has been absolutely terrific, especially its second half, where it has now won 6 games on the trot! The Islanders will carry this form and confidence into their first ever final, so this season, like New York, is simply an A+ for improvement! Very well done! The Samurai have things to work on, mainly consistency and finding a starting ruck for next year, but they have a core that could challenge for finals, so they well and truly have something to work with. This season would be a disappointment, but I'm sure handy lessons were learnt in preparing for next year.

Great score for Beijing to end the season... Hope it's a sign of things to come for our boys! :)
No ducks broken, but Pacific continues their winning run over Tokyo.
6 in a row! And a home final ;D

They're in good hands at Cairo, they'll be better next year.
That's the nicest thing you've said to me all year, you're too kind. :-*

Mitch Robbo and Aaron Hall - two of my favourite whipping boys - averaging 111 and 110 respectively the last 3 weeks!
Robbo now up to 125.25 average over the last month! Insane!
Never thought I'd say this, but Mitch Robinson is seriously making me reconsider my future in Worlds...
