Title: Rookie Promotion & Long-Term Injuries 2015
Post by: Purple 77 on February 19, 2015, 03:06:14 PM
As per last year,

Each team has 5-6 rookies - who can only play if

- You have a long-term injury
- You can't field a team for a certain position

How can I prove who has a long-term injury?

Well, if a player is either out indefinitely or is at least 6 rounds away from returning, then you have your long-term injury. I will use this link below as a basis

http://www.afl.com.au/news/injury-news/injury-list (http://www.afl.com.au/news/injury-news/injury-list)

But you can argue your case if other websites say their within the criteria above.

So in order for you to promote a rookie, post who has the long term injury, and post in this thread BEFORE the next round starts.

The player with the long term injury can't play for at least 6 rounds (on the off chance he returns early, that's just unlucky), and once he is not injured again (is off the website or plays competitive football again) your rookie is demoted again...

Rookie Promotion

In the representative round (Rounds 9-10) you are able to promote a rookie to the senior list permanately....

BUT....

You commit your last national draft pick for next season for this player AND you have to nominate a player that you will delist at the end of the year.

List of Current Promoted Rookies

Simon White has been promoted to the New Delhi Tigers Senior List due to an injury to Jack Trengove. Trengove can not be considered to play until Round 7 but if he returns to football earlier than that White will be demoted to rookie again.

Brett Goodes has been promoted to the Buenos Aires Armadillos Senior List due to an injury to Jonathan Freeman. Freeman can not be considered to play until Round 7 but if he returns to football earlier than that Goodes will be demoted to rookie again.

Patrick Ambrose has been promoted to the Tokyo Samurai Senior List due to an injury to Damien Cavka. Cavka can not be considered to play until Round 9 but if he returns to football earlier than that Ambrose will be demoted to rookie again.

Adam Schneider has been promoted to the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars Senior List due to the retirement of Beau Waters.

Fletcher Roberts has been promoted to the Cairo Sands Senior List due to an injury to Eric Mackenzie. Mackenzie can not be considered to play until Round 11 but if he returns to football earlier than that Roberts will be demoted to rookie again.

Luke Delaney has been promoted to the PNL Reindeers Senior List due to an injury to David Myers. Myers can not be considered to play until Round 11 but if he returns to football earlier than that Delaney will be demoted to rookie again.

Zac O'Brien has been promoted to the PNL Reindeers Senior List due to an injury to Jonathon Patton. Patton can not be considered to play until Round 11 but if he returns to football earlier than that O'Brien will be demoted to rookie again.

Jake Kelly has been promoted to the Cape Town Cobras Senior List due to an injury to Nathan Drummond. Drummond can not be considered to play until Round 11 but if he returns to football earlier than that Kelly will be demoted to rookie again.

Harris Andrews has been promoted to the Christchurch Saints Senior List due to an injury to Clay Smith. Smith can not be considered to play until Round 13 but if he returns to football earlier than that Andrews will be demoted to rookie again.

Neville Jetta has been promoted to the Dublin Destroyers Senior List due to an injury to Cian Hanley. Hanley can not be considered to play until Round 13 but if he returns to football earlier than that Jetta will be demoted to rookie again.

Nathan Brown has been promoted to the New York Revolution Senior List due to an injury to Tom Liberatore. Liberatore can not be considered to play until Round 16 but if he returns to football earlier than that Brown will be demoted to rookie again.

Ariel Steinberg has been promoted to the Moscow Spetsnaz Senior List due to the provisional suspension of Josh Thomas. Thomas can not be considered to play until Finals Week 1 but if he returns to football earlier than that Steinberg will be demoted to rookie again.

Joe Baker-Thomas has been promoted to the Dublin Destroyers Senior List due to an injury to Jobe Watson. Watson can not be considered to play until Finals Week 4 but if he returns to football earlier than that Baker-Thomas will be demoted to rookie again.

Jack Redpath has been promoted to the Berlin Brewers Senior List due to an injury to Jackson Paine. Paine can not be considered to play until Finals Week 4 but if he returns to football earlier than that Redpath will be demoted to rookie again.

Keenan Ramsey has been promoted to the Moscow Spetsnaz Senior List due to an injury to Hayden Ballantyne. Ballantyne can not be considered to play until Finals Week 4 but if he returns to football earlier than that Ramsey will be demoted to rookie again.

Does Waters, not that we have him, count as a LTI?

I'd assume retirements come under this as well?

With guys like Waters and other mid-season retirees, you can upgrade a rookie for the whole season  :)

I guess Trengove will be the early one for us

We've got Hanley out for half the season, not sure we've got a decent rookie who'll pop up or be worth promoting. Plus, Hanley's a mid and we've only got the one mid rookie in Will Fordham who has his work cut out for him in regards to getting an elevation and cracking the Roos midfield.  :-\

Pretty much the same scenario for us with Libba. Don't think we will elevate anyone, even though we have the great Nathan Brown on our rookie list!  :P

According the site, he is 6 weeks away, however it was updated a week ago. But, I looked at Brisbane's website, and they say (recently) he is 6-8 weeks away, so consider Goodes upgraded  :)

What's the story with the Ryan Crowley, Lachie Keeffe and Josh Thomas situations purps? Suspensions have never been part of it before, not sure what I would've done.

They're all provisionally suspended yeah?

Which means they're out indefinitely? I know Crowley (not sure about JT and Keeffe) has a hearing date, but who knows when a decision will actually get made. So I tend to think they're out indefinitely.

Which means you can upgrade a rookie in place of them.

^^ My thought process ^^

What if a player is suspended for like 11 weeks?

Well if they actually get suspended, then they're not available for a period of time. If that period of time is longer than 6 rounds, then I don't see a why rookie upgrade opportunity shouldn't become available.

Just realised we can probably upgrade a rookie in place of Christian Petracca who did his ACL a while ago :'(

Will probably hold out until any look like getting games though.

Oh wow, and that article just came out today so I choose perfect times to promote rookies... Didn't even know he returned to training so I'm happy regardless :D. Not like ZOB is a must of course and he'll demote back once Patton isn't on the injury list.

I'd like to promote Ariel Steinberg to replace Josh Thomas

Won't get a gig this week, but who knows how useful he'll be when the flies start dropping

Hey Purps, what's the deal with players listed as indefinite on the injury list?

The player in question is Jaden McGrath.

The AFL site has him as indefinite although I found this article from a couple of days ago which listed him as 5-7 weeks (which is pretty much the season for Brisbane as they won't play finals).

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/travis-cloke-hayden-ballantyne-injured-bradley-hill-joel-selwood-drew-petrie-among-potential-round-16-inclusions/story-fncufbo5-1227449030516

If it's okay can we upgrade Nick O'Brien for him?

Yep, that's good enough for me. Consider it done.

With Patton back and Shiel out rest of the season, I'll promote Zac O'Brien up for him quickly as want to play him this week for PNL >:D.
