West Coast break from a stoppage in their defensive half. Cripps chips to McGovern running into space 45m out on the flank. He takes the set shot but misses to the right.
Hawthorn stream out of defence through Duryea and then O’Rourke. The long kick inside 50 is roved by Sicily, he hands to McEvoy who gets it on the boot for a goal.
Puopolo in the pocket, steps around MacKenzie, bursts away but his shot from 25m out on the angle hits the post. (Q1 12:39)
Long ball deep into the pocket, Gunston judges the ball better than Hurn and takes it on his chest. The set shot is his bread and butter as he arcs around and kicks truly. (Q1 13:54)
Birchall attempting to run out of defence is caught holding the ball by Duggan. However, the resultant set shot from 40 misses to the left. (Q1 14:36)
Long ball 30m from goal by Birchall and Sicily climbs high over MacKenzie to take a great grab! Set shot misses to the left. Bad miss after a terrific mark. (Q1 18:39)
Hard lead from Breust to the 50m arc and he’s hit up well by Gibson. He elects to take the long set shot but misses to the left. (Q1 22:10)
Langford running down the wing hits a low, wobbling ball which finds Cyril on the chest. His set shot from 35m out on a tight angle is good! (Q1 23:25)
Mitchell marks 50m out, never intended to take the shot and finds Sicily tight on the boundary. Sicily improves the angle and slots a great goal! He’s shown some class. (Q1 25:42)
Hurn tries to handball backwards in defence but Sicily intercepts and strolls in for an easy goal! (Q2 2:01)
Kennedy showcasing his outstanding defensive pressure by running down Rioli. He has a set shot from 55m out and slots it! WC are on the board with a goal. (Q2 3:27)
Darling has to wait for the ball to come to him, holds his ground and takes a strong overhead mark. His set shot from 40m out directly in front is good. (Q2 6:47)
Hill roves a contest, hands to Priddis who releases Redden inside WC forward 50, he uses the outside of his boot and finishes nicely from 30m. (Q2 8:47)
Long ball into the Hawthorn forward line and the WC defenders won’t be happy with this as they allow Sicily to take an almost uncontested mark despite the congestion. He goals. (Q2 10:57)

The half time siren sounds. Hawthorn dominating possession so far, Gibson in particular is controlling the play. (Q2 30:00)
Nelson identifies Darling in a one-on-one with Burgoyne and Darling is too strong. He lines up after the mark from 40m out on a 45 degree angle. Goal. (Q3 2:56)
A fist from the stoppages sends the ball in Frawley’s direction on the 50m line, he hands to Rioli who wheels onto the left and kicks a fantastic long goal. (Q3 5:38)

One-on-one contest inside Hawthorn’s 50 sees Schofield give away a holding free on Breust 35m out on a tight angle. His set shot is no good. (Q3 23:43)
Gibson’s had a good day but he coughs this one up via a smothered kick. Cripps is rewarded for his smother as he gets the ball back from Hurn and kicks the running goal from 30. (Q3 27:10)

Birchall slams the ball on the boot for a quick inside 50 and Sicily is in the right place at the right time, which he often seems to be. His set shot, however, misses to the right (Q3 29:14)
Breust marks on the lead tight on the boundary. Finds Gunston inboard, 40m from goal on a 45 degree angle. He misses to the left. (Q4 3:12)
Hawthorn force a turnover on the 50m line, Lewis kicks long to Rioli who marks and runs into an open goal. (Q4 3:51)
Naitanui throws the ball on his boot to get it inside 50 and it falls fortuitously to LeCras 40m out on a slight angle. His set shot misses to the far side. (Q4 6:32)
Gibson caps off a dominant game as he gets on the end of a Hartung handball while drifting forward and slots a running goal from 40m out. (Q4 13:58)
Bennell turns it over in the middle of the ground and the ball eventually gets to Sicily who marks 40m out. He goes back and slots his fourth for the day. (Q4 17:23)
Long kick into the WC forward line from Lycett and Yeo takes a strong pack mark 40m out directly in front. He goes back and misses to the left. Quiet day for him. (Q4 19:33)
Players scrambling everywhere in the WC goal square, Lycett manages to get boot to ball but hits the post. (Q4 22:11)
Burgoyne kicks long and there’s a two on one favouring Hawthorn. Schoenmakers completes the mark and lines up from 45m out on a 45 degree angle. He misses to the left. (Q4 25:59)
Birchall takes an intercept mark right on the 50m line. He opts to take the set shot, just makes the distance but it was never on target. (Q4 26:29)
Siren sounds, Hawthorn controlled this one from start to finish. The composure and creativity from the likes of Gibson and Mitchell was on display all day. (Full Time)
