Long a symbol of consistency at the Giants, Callan Ward suffered a left ACL tear in the opening minutes of his return game that required a reconstruction, sidelining the former co-captain for the year. Prior, the star midfielder had averaged 90+ ever year since 2012, rarely missing a game. He was running in December and progressed to full training in January.When the doctors give the A-OK, Ward will side back into the core midfield group. At this stage, he's a chance (read: not a guarantee) to play in round one - either way, given the likelihood of a dip in scoring due to a hampered preseason, a middle round pick is best. -
