    Back to defence for Mackie
    Last season, Andrew Mackie had his worst numbers since 2006 as time inevitably began to slow him down. As coach Brad Scott tinkered with his defensive formation, he played a stop-first role rather than generating offensive play with intercepts. His disposals and marks dropped, with a personal best in tackles.
    Now in the twilight of his career, it appears likely that Mackie's numbers will decline once more. The saving grace may be in the form of a new role to replace Corey Enright, but it looks more likely that Jackson Thurlow and Tom Ruggles will have first shot. At this stage he looks to be a middle round selection or later.
