Coming off a dominant September 2018 culminating in a North Smith Medal, Luke Shuey posted a career-best set of figures in both disposals and fantasy points, shifting his ratio from 12:12 to 17:10. His additional duties outside the coalface showed up in his contested rate dropping by seven points, while maintaining a top ten ranking in clearances - all of those ranked above him handballed more often than kicking, and weren't close to his metres gained rate of over 450.West Coast most definitely has a singular system in midfield, and Shuey has changed his game to suit that system. Tim Kelly will feel right at home in his new digs because all those around him are complete inside-outside players like him, even those who were exclusively inside beasts. Perhaps we will start talking about the interchangeable nature of the Eagle mids like we used to about the Crowbots. Shuey is arguably the greatest of them, deserving a look in early rounds. -

PLAYER DISCUSSION • This guy is a gun!. Forget the crying Victorians looking for an excuse when there team can't get over the line against the Eagles - learn to tackle and you won't have a problem. I surpose the umpires helped the Eagles pull goals out their a$ses against the pies on the weekend. I surpose the umpires helped Naitanui dominate, and I surpose the umpires help the Eagles with their game plan to allow free players all over the place, and I surpose the umpires helped Shannon Hurn bomb a goal from 70m's out. - S_Coach99 - 147 months ago • The umps probably fall for it every time because it actually is a free kick? Lol read the rules you clown - Rommas - 147 months ago • Slippery, squirming little worm in the tackles and the umps fall for it every time! - andyandy89 - 147 months ago • Would you say this is his breakout season or maybe its still to come? Will be a freak in 2-3 years anyway - Changeling - 149 months ago • could potentially be a fwd/mid with all the goals he is kicking, though its unlikely due to the fact he starts on ball and not half forward/pocket compared to the likes of beams, sidebottom and martin did last season. Would be a steal if he is next year - popedelio - 149 months ago • if Shuey is MID/FWD in 2013. He will be a great pick - dswallow24 - 149 months ago • A must have the 2nd half of 2012 start of 2013 - spacko453 - 151 months ago • A lock this year i think - brockmav - 154 months ago • I'm all over this bloke. Have been since 2010. Look at his draw the first 6 rounds. Massive score potential - fivestarmd - 154 months ago • This years Rockliff? - stevesowde - 154 months ago • ten news perth: josh kennedy says shuey training the house down and will become afl elite this year - pavs nose - 154 months ago • Unlucky Shuey, clearly the Rising Star... - Bomber21 - 159 months ago • if this bloke was in a melbourne team, they would be having parades for him. He is obviously better than heppell - kwidjaja23 - 159 months ago • haha soz i mean 2012 - Hawka101 - 160 months ago • this guy is going to be the redden of 2011 - Hawka101 - 160 months ago • @BigV2011 Sorry to say but Daniel Rich is staying with brisbane with Redden and Rockliff in their premiership team - hisk0 - 161 months ago • Congrats on winning the NAB rising star and imagine a midfield of Rich, Shuey and Gaff in our next premiership team, but he's more of a SuperCoach player than in Dream Team. - BigV2011 - 164 months ago • Guilty - fivestarmd - 164 months ago • @fivestarmd are you luke shuey?? because only luke shuey himself would put him as captain. - dyl_2 - 164 months ago • realy?? - Slap - 164 months ago
