bad, maybe in the back its possible to have 3 premos since 90ish is the avg DEF premo and the rooks will only be 15-20 points behind.

fwd line is different, way too risky to start 3 premos only a handful of rooks/rook priced player will play enough games to make any decent upgrading money. Especially since ruck/fwd DPP have been introduced the avg for the top 10 fwds will be 100+.
if rooks score 70ish they'll be 30 points behind and starting 3 is super risky.

mids. wow. i thought i was a beast with 5 super premo's and here you show me up with 6 LOL  ;D
i think its great, start off strong i say and i do see your 6 to likely finish top 10 mids come years end.

i've got a theory on premo's, no point in gettin in "premo's" on any line that you think will finish outside of the top 10 come years end, especially with limited spots in the DEF/fwd line.

good luck.

Def: You can get away The 3 Premium & 3 Rookie Strategy as long as you pick the 3 correct ones.
Mids: 1 Premium too many here & 4 of those premiums have the Round 13 bye so look at downgrading to a cash cow
Rucks: Standard
Fwds:Too light here need to upgrade on of your 5 cash cows to a premium like Hawkins or Walker

Overall: Team is unbalanced too strong in the Midfield & Too light up forward to win supercoach you need the right balance and good unique picks. I give your team a 6.5/10 even though i count 13 premiums

big_cox21

thanks for the comments guys. i have always gone with a balanced team and have always done terribly. especially to start.

Keeper27

johnnytheboy1 why are you so hung up on byes??
this is just the starting team.

come the byes half that team would've already been changed and replaced by other players so byes dont mean sh!t right now.
as long as you have 18 scoring players each round of the byes it doesnt matter if you have 4 rnd 13 mids.

so no, he doesnt have to change, if he wants to start really strong with 6 super premos then so be it.
at the very least with captaincy he could score 900+ just of those 6 players.

yes its unbalanced, but thats his choice.
thats the price he must pay to get 6 super premos in the mid.

if everyone one in the 22 play i can see this team around 2200

Strategy he is using is sound.

However I agree with Johnny here Keeper - Whilst byes are not a real problem this year need to consider slightly when doing upgrades to ensure more prems with Round 13 bye are not traded in.  You will more than likely still have a couple of Round 13 rookies as well.
At the moment you have 7 prems with Round 13 bye including all your prem defenders.

Just work out a trading strategy now on which prems you are going to bring in. Know a lot of coaches probably do not do this but it is well worth while.  I have a list of 12 prems I am keeping my eye to finish my team (only need 8 ).

Based on Strategy you are using Rate team 9/10 but strategy itself 6/10, Reason for low strategy rating is that mid rookies tend to fatten the quickest but with 6 prem mids you limit this somewhat.

big_cox21

those last two comments are really great and really apprecated. thankyou two alot. yeas i realise the difference in fattening of mid rooks compared to others. but if i was going with 5 prem mids i would only have 1 extra mid rookie. so i dont think im sacraficing too much. if i had 7 gun mids and could go from 3 rooks to 5 then it would be well worth it but im taking the risks. it is popular belief that the fwd rookies are weak. and if staker didnt go down i would really be licking my lips. but if i can go with mcaffer, mayes who has been really impressive at brissy apparently and 1 more lucky pick thats atleast three good fwds to start with. who knows if neade daniher lee or even someone like paparone kennedy(coll) or someone else bursts out. its risky but im willing to take it this year. thanks or your comments guys

big_cox21

i managed to save cash on some different rookies, moved cox into the ruck (with the intention of him finishing the year as a fwd, swapped goldy for martin(saved cash too) and upgraded mayes to byrnes to stabilise my fwds with regards to scoring and JS. and also to keep the ruck fwd link i moved rowe fwd and put currie in the rucks.

so to wrap that up
goldy to martin
mayes to byrnes
daniher rowe
rowe to currie

big_cox21

also guys i have the byes under control so dont worry about that :)

what do you think?

Defence a bit weak due to the amount of rookies in here, solid selections nonetheless in there, especially with the premium options.

Midfield obviously the strong point, solid selections everywhere. Can't fault it. Except maybe that a lot of other teams have the same midfielders. Lacking in uniqueness. But they're obviously the most selected for good reason.

Can't fault the ruck.

Forward line decent, rookies a bit weak in the forward line. You'll be in a bit of trouble if Macaffer and Tom Lee aren't playing round 1, and even if they are don't expect much output.

All in all, you've obviously chosen to go midfield heavy as lot of coaches have. For a midfield heavy team, the selections have been fairly good. Good luck in the season.

big_cox21

first attemp taking leuenberger out of the team

swapped kennedy in the mids to wines.

then upgraded leuey to maric so i replace the super prem kennedy with maric. then i took the money from leuey and changed my F8 to kennedy.

i think kennedy can score as well as leuey would anyway (about 90 each). and he sures up the F4 spot more then byrnes and moves byrnes to F5. kennedy had a huge year and might just fall a bit back to about 115 which maric can average anyway for a lot less money and i get another mid rook who will be an excellent cash cow.

i was really keen on going 6 super prem mids and had stuck by it all this time. but without leuey it just cant work. if he is names rnd 1 i have a tough call to make. but how does this look? i think its gonna score me about the same points.

big_cox21

c'mon guys. got ripped into earlier for being too mid heavy and really light up front. now i have byrnes and kennedy in the FWD, another great cashcow in the mid and my rucks arent a worry with goldy/leuey risky combo.

are there any faults left?

tor01doc

Nice bigboy

Any thoughts on Rowe @ F8?

Lots of 13ers down back and mid. Maybe get JPK back instead of Swan to balance that out.

I don't mind Cox in ruck to start and presume you'll bolster Fwds with NicNat after a few rounds.

Also when Leue is on the bubble Cox could go fwd.

Also maybe Hepp to another 'H' for bye balance.

Looking good.

Ringo

Nice Team bigcox,

Just a couple of observations:

As Doc says have you considered Rowe for F8 - Because if Witts or Currie are scoring an average say 70 - 80 you could play them and move Cox forward if you forwards are not averaging these.  Bit of flexibility for you.

You have a lot of Round 13 bye players including all three defenders and four of your mid premium players.  Need to develop a trading plan to ensure no more Round 13 Prems are traded in.  Alternately you can select a couple of Round 11 or Round 12 prems without compromising team - Swan to JPK, Jelwood and Heppell to Hartlett or Hanley will not cost points.  Your decision as nothing really wrong with selections so long as you watch trades.

Rate Team 9.2/10 now
