Jarrad Witts - Collingwood

POSITION: Ruck

OFFICIAL PRICE FOR 2013: $108,500

AGE: 20

HEIGHT: 208cm        WEIGHT:  113kg   :o

Witts is a rare commodity, possessing the physical dimensions that will provide him the opportunity to develop into a fearsome player should his junior career prove any indication. Uses his size smartly, and has the ability to take the ruck work as well as play in attack

HISTORY:

2008   Signed to Collingwood under the NSW Scholarship program

2011     Represented NSW as an over-age player at the U18 National Championships, winning his state's MVP for an outstanding performance at the carnival. Also managed to play three VFL matches towards the end of the season before he was placed on the senior list in October as a pre-listed NSW scholarship holder. He kicked three goals against Bendigo in round 20, and averaged 11 disposals and four marks per game. He was officially drafted to Collingwood with pick 67 in the National Draft, and travelled to Arizona for the club’s training camp

2012   Witts was close to making his debut  but suffered minor soft tissue injuries at inopportune moments

VERDICT: Witts is a huge man and could easily play for the Pies in 2013. After the signing of B.Hudson people would have thought this will diminish his chances in 2013 but as Collingwood have stated Hudson was picked up as a Mentor for Witts and Grundy. How many games will he get ? hard to say at the moment so lets see what happens in the NAB. Alot will depend on him getting named for round 1 obviously.

PREDICTION: Not sure of his scoring abilities if anyone can provide some stats that would be good.. ill have a guess and say if he gets regular games he could average 60-75 ? . Alot of people seem keen on Witts for 2013 please post your thoughts below.

The NAB battle between Daw, Currie, Grundy and Witts will be one of the most watched by DT Fantasy coaches. I really hope there are two clear winners so we can pick our benches with a bit of confidence.
