Atley proved his worth in 2012, he improved out of sight and has become a fairly solid rebounding defender. That being said unless he is promised more time in the midfield in 2013 I don't think I can pick him. He handballs more than he kicks and while playing down back be simply doesn't (and won't) get enough of the ball to become a great fantasy player in my opinion.

If he got a bit more time up the ground and picked up an extra 5 touches a game, I think he could become a keeper down back.

While Shaun Atley is likely to improve further in 2013, I think there are better options around his price range this year. For those looking to add a POD he could be a decent smokey, I think he can break an 80 average which is good enough to stick around as a D6/7  at the end of the season, but I'd much rather take the risk on Yarran or Smith.

They're all extremely solid mid-pricers, but my personal preference would be Yarran and Smith.

Not sure it's a risk I'm going to take next year, he's a good player but there are other options I think are better around his price range. He is definitely a viable option though.

Prediction: +10 81

Sid your write-ups put a lot of others to shame haha very nice again mate
He's definitely looking like a breakout year but you are right, there are quite a few infront of him

Awesome write up mate! :) behind yarran in my team but way infront of smith. I dont know why everyone is expecting so much from him next year.. An improving north and more midfield time in 2013 will show whether or not atley will be fantasy relevant or not over the coming years.

Great write up Sid.

Atley's at a very awkward price and I dont expect him to be around the top defenders just yet.

Not for me at that price, he should improve quite a bit though. Nice work Sid 8)
