HISTORY:

2007 The youngest Selwood brother joins older brother Adam at the Eagles to complete an AFL family dynasty that also includes Troy (Brisbane) and 2007 Nab AFL rising star Joel.

2008 Played nine games in a solid start to his career. Displayed the trademark family traits of hardness and courage. The club is excited by his prospects through the midfield or on a wing.

2009 In his third season he took time to overcome groin/abducter problems and did not appear until round 7. Still managed 14 games and averaged 15 possessions for the year, and looks to be progressing nicely as a defensive midfield type.

2010 Played 20 games in the midfield after starting in the WAFL. The defensive side if his game has taken off and he was second at the club for tackles. By the end of the year he started to show his class and in round 19 he was one of the teams best when he picked up 28 disposals.

2011 The disciplined midfileder emerged as one of the competitions shutdown specialists playing every game and leading the AFL in tackles (202) finals included. C.Judd was his biggest scalp in round 14, but he is close to graduating from run with duties after ranking top five at West Coast for clearances and contested possessions. Is a member of the leadership group.

2012 Had a breakout season and won West Coasts club champion award. Operated as a run with player while averaging almost 25 touches a game.

SUMMARY: Had a breakout year and was ranked 19th in overall points scored for the season having played all 22 games at an average of 97. Can he take his game to another level in 2013? . Alot of people will be put off because of the role he plays for West Coast but its not necessarily a bad thing as he racks up the tackles and almost averages 25 possessions a game.

VERDICT: Not sure if he can up his average again but he had some massive scores and if he can get consistent he could go up another notch in 2013.

PREDICTION: Every year he gets older and more experienced. An average of 105 is not out of the question but is that enough to warrant selection ? if you pick him, he's a keeper at that price. Might be a decent POD if he improves again next season. I wont be putting him in i dont have big enough balls. :-X

Good write up FF. Hasn't really been on my radar, but he has been consistently improving and should average over 100 this year. A bit expensive for me, but could be worth it if he improves again.

Adamant

Yeah, good write up FF.
Can see both Selwood & Shuey averaging around 100-105 next year...Gaff possibly too.

The_Captain

will average 100 next year.. But just short of what you want to be a midfeild keeper

Completely agree, can't see him lifting his average to the 110 you want as a mid premium and he won't increase his price much either. No for me.

The_Captain

yeh too many better options out there...

Scooter Averaged 110 in the first 8 rounds whilst playing more of a free role for the Eagles, which had me thinking he has premium dt potential. However after that he showed how important he is to their team as a tagger, hence diminishing his scoring output (91 final 14 games) and my views of him being dt relevent in the near future :/ Great player but until he is fully set free, the burden of being a tagger should see him hover around the 95-105 max average which is sadly a little under what i would love a premium mid to average!

Ricochet

Even if he does up his average to 110, you can still upgrade to him without missing out on too much

elephants

He will stay around the same mark. Will likely be inconsistent too with tagging roles one week and loose ones the next!?

The_Captain

didnt really see him tag that much at all? Was more adam selwoods role..

Shihan7

Was impressed with his season, but cant see him going 110+ to match it with the best of the best.

If Wellingham relieves his tagging role, does this mean he could be free to make that big leap in DT output?
