Sam Fisher is one of the few 80+ averaging defenders I won't be considering in 2013.
As I have outlined above he was down in several key stats in 2012 with SD being the only real place he improved, which is understandable considering his average took 16 point drop.

To add to the concerns is the fact that he failed to play 20 games or more for the first time since his debut season.

The only reason I could kind of justify picking him would be if you thought Goddard leaving would have a positive impact on his scoring.

Ultimately he's a 30 year old that had a very down year, and although it might help him get back to his 90+ average Goddard leaving just puts more question marks over his head for me.

Absolutely no. There are much better options than Fisher IMHO, although I've been predicting the fall of Heath Scotland for 2 (going on 3) seasons now, I'm pretty confident about this one.

Prediction -7 76.

FTR this is a slightly different template to my previous one, feedback would be appreciated. :)

Awesome looking template Sid! :)
Fisher could be a little underpriced, but I thought he played a lot more lockdown and there are much better options at that price.
Great write up.

Great template Sid! Very informative!

Can't understand why people are going to jump off Fisher though especially if Stkilda are able to trade a lock down defender in
One of his best attributes is his football nous and reading the play and unlike physical ailments such as injury, getting older doesn't mean you lose it. I think people are estimating his output pretty harsh and I wouldn't be surprised to see him average 90 if that new defender does come in and Gwilt gets more run in his leg after injury, giving Sam a bit of a hand down back

quinny88

Agree 100% with feltsy. The reason for his lower average was that he was forced to play a lock down defender role instead of his usual sweeping half back role. If the Saints recruit a tall defender ill be jumping on fisher as he will no doubt return to his old role and he is underpriced

Shihan7

Not for me, there are better options. Great write up.

+ 2. Write him off at your peril. With a chop out in the defense department Fisher is more than capable of 90+.

Agreed. It would only take a role change for him to bounce back to premium status. He is definitely on my watchlist especially if the Saints can snare Mitch Brown from West Coast.

Jroo

Been a fantasy gun for a while but surely this year his scores will be on the decline

Adamant

Actually might come on the radar if the Saints can nab Brown.

Mitch Brown? He will be staying at the Eagles for now as they came out and said they won't trade him, but yer I agree with you if Brown did go to the Saints then it could have increased Fishers SC scoring output

Yeah, dont think Brown will leave, but Fisher would come back into calculations if he did :)
