Summary: A major trade to Hawthorn (Lake and pick 27 for picks 21 and 41), Lake's DT stocks have risen majorly. The Hawks are known for their kicking, which was what Lake did back in 2009 and 2010 to large averages and some massive scores. After a dissapointing 2011 where his lack of fitness made him only play 5 poor games, his 2012 was an improvement, although his former role of kick-to-kick had gone. Will be a major key of the Hawks backline, and will rack up the +6s with Birchall and Suckling. Has very good durability apart from 2011; since 2005 (8 seasons) he has played every game in 5 of them and 20 games in 2 of them.

Verdict: Will go back to his 2009-2010 form at the Hawks...and will play in a premiership.
Predicted Average: Probably 90, best case scenario 96-100, worst case 75.

Definitely considering him. I think Lake's problem this year was that the bulldogs never really got too much of a chance to chip around in defence because most of the time they were losing.

Interestingly, Lake played in 4 wins for the Bulldogs in 2012, and averaged 105ish with a low of 94 in those wins. The hawks are obviously going to win the majority of their games, and with there kick to kick game style , I think lake could easily average 90+.

He is still a speculative pick so I'll wait for upgrade time before considering him.

Mr.Craig

Not a starter for me, will be an upgrade target for sure if he puts in a good start to the season.

Thanks for the write up, I love that we recruited him and he really sures up our defence, taking the big forwards that Schoenmakers struggles with. I will watch how well he scores with interest in the NAB cup. I just wonder whether all of him, Guerra, Birchall and Suckling can continue to average 80+ in the same team.

Ajax22

Yeah he's definitely on the radar now. Gonna have to see how he fits in during the NAB Cup

Jukes

Also remember guys he has the back/forward DPP that can be used with Bock.

lol he shouldn't be DPP

Yeah I would have thought he'd just be a back, he didn't actually get thrown forward much for the dogs last year did he?

Not for that price.. id consider if  100k cheaper...

Just like Clokey for you haha, can see that 100k being worth it on both players.

The_Captain

haha yeh exactly jukes :). Too many mid pricers this year to go for the guys that are just short of premium status.. Its either cheap mid pricer or premo or rook in my team :) haha

Ajax22

A lot of those 250k players are that price for a reason though, none were really premiums in the first place and now most are coming off serious injuries. LeCras is probably the only one I see really being worth it since if your just gonna end up trading those players out then u might as well get a rookie for the cash generation.

Players like Lake and Cloke that I can see improvement in are well worth the money because you can get a straight up premium for about 100k less. Of course it is all dependent on a good pre season and decent NAB Cup campaign

Grazz

Be watching him closely over the pre season, tempted with a change a club.
