Steele Sidebottom - Collingwood Magpies

Position: MID

Price: $538,700 (Fanplanner)

2011 Games: 22

2012 Games: 21

2011 Average: 86.6

2012 Average: 104.7

2012 Tons: 11 (and 3 x 94+)

Summary: Wow, what a year for the man of Steele! Upped his average from 87 to 105 in his 4th year, placing him 10th overall for averages. He started like a house on fire, with 8 tons in his first 11 games (including a massive 150) and 7 x 109+ scores between rounds 3-9. With Sidey losing his DPP however, he has definitely become the forgotten man as a pure mid.

Verdict: At 21, there is plenty of room for improvement. Unfortunately there are just too many mids ahead of him, who will push 110+ averages.

Ad's predicted average: 102

The thing is, he would be fourth in line as to which collingwood mid you would pick, behind pendles, Sean and ball, great player but, hopefully they just forget to take it off him  ;D

He clearly responded well when playing in the guts, then dropped away a bit when others came into the team and he was moved to the fwd line. I'm hoping he might hold DPP, but it's obviously not likely.

Too expensive for my liking. Might consider if DPP.

Agreed, to expensive for a mid for what he will deliver but if a foward he will be a lock

Windigo

Not worth it as a midfielder next year.

Served many well as a "FWD' this year though.

I reckon a 107 average is a bit high. Ball will play the vast majority of the game in midfield, and his injury is the reason he spent more time in the mids anyway. Him, Beams, Swan, Pendles and Thomas will spend more time in the midfield than sidey and wellingham wanting to leave doesn't do great things for him either as he also played a fair chunk of time forward. He'll average around 95 I reckon, and at that price and only being a mid he's not for me.

Yeah, you're right, I had forgotten about how the return of Ball will affect him. Probably being a bit too optimistic lol. I still reckon he can average a bit over the ton - 102.

Collingwood supporters, would Wellingham have been infront of him this year in terms of time in midfield?? With him leaving Sidey might get just as much midfield time as this year

Wellingham was more on the wing I think Ric

No way for me now that he is a pure mid. You cant go past Swan, GAJ, Pendles, Cotch, Beams, Murphy etc.

Not for me if Mid only, possibly if Fwd DPP. He's a gun, but his position in DreamTeam and the Collingwood side isn't certain.
