Andrew Walker - Carlton

Position: FWD

Price: $381,800 (fanplanner)

2011Games: 22

2012 Games: 15

2011 Average: 76.1

2012 Average: 74.5 (79.6 without sub affected 4)

2012 Tons: 1 (and 2 90s)

2012 High Score: 115

2012 Low Score: 4 (sub affected), apart from that 2 60s.

Summary: Had a great preseason and was apparently flying and as good as he has ever felt, but got a quad injury at the end, and ended up missing the first four weeks which affected his season.  He was pretty consistent in his first ten games, averaging 84 and only dropping below 70 once. He then had a calf problem which kept him out for another 3 weeks before playing out the final 2 games in defence.

Verdict: Defintely considering. He is a player that has showed a truckload of potential since his outstanding first game but has not yet delivered on it. However, I think this is the year he finally puts it all together due to the Malthouse effect, who is proven in his ability to get the best out of his players. He spent more time in the midfield at times this year, and I can see him having a role similar to that of Sidebottom in 2011 and Daisy Thomas in 2010, switching between midfield and the forward line.  However he did spend a couple of weeks back which resulted in his 2 60s, though I think that was just because of their injury worries and because the season was already over, so they were just trying it out. I don't think it will be a permanent move.

Predicted Average: Providing he has a good injury-free preseason, I think he can push a 90 average.

P.S. This is my first player profile so please let me know how I went. I currently have some time on my hands so feel free to request any players you would like me to look at  :)

Pretty left field and could be a handy pod. However, to many good mid pricers with the potential to score more for much less. No for me

Great detailed write up mate!
Walker's an interesting one...averaged in the 70's the last 4 years and not sure if he'll improve too much.
He's at that awkward price where I would much rather Gray/LeCras/Knights for 140k cheaper...and someone like Zaha or Dusty for a little more.
Yeah to be honest that's probably my thoughts too. However I thought he would be worth watching to see what kind of role he plays in the NAB cup as he's underpriced for what he can produce imo.

Maybe Malthouse will tell him to forget about building his game around spectacular marks because he has the talent to be an above average mid/fwd.  Would not surprise to see him improve markedly under Mick.

Cicjose

i did the profile for walker last year and if Carlton get a power foward he would be under consideration for my team

Ajax22

Good writeup but I doubt I'll even consider him with all the other options floating around

Ricochet

Nice writeup mate, not really overly keen on him but i will be watching to see what Mick does with him
so won't be starting, maybe an upgrade target

Scrads

I think even if all the M/Fs lost their eligibility he would still only be half a chance...

Spinking

I like him as a POD but that price and output is awkward.  Wont be a consistent 80 / 90 + scorer, but is still reasonably expensive.  Lots better underpriced forwards and rookies imo.
