Scott Thompson - Adelaide Crows (Requested by Barra)

Position: MID

Price: $540,200 (Fanplanner)

2011 Games: 22

2012 Games: 22

2011 Average: 108.5

2012 Average: 105.0

2012 Tons: 13 (and 2 x 99's)

Summary: With the Crows soft draw to start the 2012 season, Thommo was shaping up as a popular pick. He averaged 111 from rounds 1-16 and 92 from 16-23 (which is when Dangerfield started his great run). Could this be a sign of things to come? With Thommo nearing the 30 mark, and Adelaide having a tougher draw next year....it might be a risk to start him.

Verdict: Got quite a few premo mid's ahead of him at this stage who are likely to average 110+, so may look at Thommo as an upgrade target.

Ad's predicted average: 104

About 10-15 blokes ahead of him for a premium spot in my midfield...no for me, not even as an upgrade target.

Yep, Swan/GAJ/Pendles/Murph/Cotchin/Beams etc all ahead of him.

Ricochet

yep he's still a gun but there are just too many other guns ahead of him on my list

Haven't really considered him at all. Picked both him and Mitchell up during the year and they both disappointed me a bit with their output. Saying that though if Danger continues to tear games up he might take the no. 1 tag a lot more leaving Thommo free to bring his average back up. As already said tho he's not really worth the risk with all the other options around

Yeh spot on ric. Had him all year and he was awesome for me but there r just too many ahead of him now.

His average of 105 just isn't enough for a premium midfielder and with an aging body I can't see him making much of an improvement on that.

I can see his avg staying about the same for next year. With age and what should be a less friendly draw next year he wont make my team.

Thanks Very good write up BTW

For me Thomo is a lock. $100K cheaper than GAJ and Swan (who will be upgrade targets)

Yeh but he's $100k cheaper for a reason though... you'll be missing out on 20-30 points a game picking him over GAJ or Swan

Colliwobblers

might be worth starting him to make yourself $100K which you will when Swan or Ablett or watson or pendles or cotching have a bad run...

but for me after last season the trade is worth more than the coin, I'll be looking for $200k per trade elite guns and elite rooks for me ...

now just the small matter of getting those players right  ::)

Thomo is far from past it also, look at Hayes, much older and had a cracking season. Not on my radar but don't write him off.
