Mr.Craig

I've updated all the profiles with where the player was drafted and their new Fanplanner price. Let me know if I missed anyone. I'll leave the non draftees up in the hope they are picked in the pre season or rookie drafts.

I will do a few more profiles in the coming week. :)

Jason Ashby

Birthday - 16/5/94
186cm/76kg
Oakleigh Chargers
Price/Position - $102,700 Def

Drafted Round 2 Pick 34 Essendon

Despite Ashby not playing a part in the Under 18 Championships Essendon had clearly seen enough to use their 34th pick in the draft on the mobile defender. His 14 games in the TAC showed some fantasy football promise with scores of 57, 110, 72, 78, 86, 46, 67, 54, 73, 121, 92, 65, 72 and 65. He'll need to put on some muscle and improve his kicking efficiency before Essendon seriously consider giving him a game. Could possibly end up being a mid to late season downgrade option.

Kevin Sheehan says: “Hard running defender who links up well providing terrific rebound for the Chargers. Smart decision maker with and without the ball, showing himself to be sound overhead and a quality defensive spoiler. Averaged 18.2 disposals in nine TAC matches this year at 70.7 percent efficiency. ”

Chargers regional manager Mark Smart says:  "He's had a terrific year. We thought the best way to develop him was as a running half-back and he's been able to grow into that role nicely. He's very driven. I could see him becoming a running flank-type player and if he gets a bit stronger he can go back into the midfield. He's got terrific endurance so he's certainly suited to the AFL world."

Jackson Ramsay

Birthday - 20/11/94
183cm/77kg
East Perth
Price/Position - $102,700 Def

Drafted Round 2 Pick 38 Collingwood

Considering how little football Ramsay has played over the last two years Collingwood appear to be taking a bit of a punt but they obvious see some potential in the W.A boy. During an injury interupted 2012 he played 3 games in the Under 18 Championships, averaging 14 disposals for scores of 57, 69 and 11. In the WAFL Colts he only played 5 games but his scoring was fairly impressive with 16 kicks, 7.5 handballs, 5.2 marks and 90.4 DT per match. His individual game scores were 65, 70, 109, 109 and 99. As with all the new Magpie recruits, getting into the side is the biggest challenge and I would question if that will happen for Jackson in 2013.

Kevin Sheehan says: Courageous and composed defender with pace and an excellent work rate. Has good disposal skills and makes sound decisions with or without the ball. Played three matches for WA at Under-18 level before missing the final two matches with injury. Averaged 24.4 disposals in five matches at Colts level in WAFL.

Pies Recruiting Manager Derek Hine says: "A utility who missed a fair chunk of the season. A multi-effort player who showed in the second half of the year that he can play forward, mid and back."

do you know much about Sam Siggins ?  Interested to find out a bit more as he was the Crows' first choice in the draft, I'm hoping he is good cos they overlooked Colquhoun and I'm not happy with that   :P

Sam Siggins

Birthday - 20/3/93
196cm/88kg
Lauderdale
Price/Position - $102,700 Def

Drafted Round 3 Pick 62 Adelaide

Siggins spent most of 2012 playing in the seniors for Lauderdale as part of the Wrest Point State League (a team he first represented as a 15 year old). Although there aren't any specific disposal stats, he did get named in the best on 3 occasions which is a decent effort for a young defender. Sam is a state academy graduate and played the last couple of games in the Under 18 Champs where he averaged 11 disposals and 44.5 DT. He performed strongly at the Combine, particularly in the 3km time trial and beep test.

The Crows rate Siggins highly but given they have recently unearthed Talia and Shaw it may be a challenge for him to break into the side.

Kevin Sheehan says: A tall rebounding defender who has very clean hands below his knees and likes to attack from half back. Has the ability to play a number of different roles on either a tall or small opponent. Played two games for Tasmania at the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships where his leadership qualities were excellent, as was his ability to compete in the air. Currently playing senior football with Lauderdale.

Adelaide list manager David Noble says: "We did a lot of work into Sam. His ground level ball is fantastic. He's a good decision-maker, good kick and diligent worker, so his profile was really strong."

Matt Jones

Birthday - 18/10/87
188cm/81kg
Box Hill Hawks
Price/Position - $102,700 Mid

Drafted Round 3 Pick 52 Melbourne

25 year old Jones has come via Labrador, South Croydon and Box Hill to surprisingly find himself on the Demons list. Another Hawks ball magnet, he played three games in the Vic Development League early in 2012 and after being named in the best each time he was promptly elevated to the seniors. From 16 of the 17 games where I could find stats he scored 101, 27, 75, 79, 65, 51, 81, 57, 43, 82, 82, 118, 89, 113, 45 and 58 (Ave: 72.8).

As we know, clubs don't usually draft a bloke from the VFL in his mid 20's unless they have a desire to play him but given there will be intense competition for midfield spots with the injection of Toumpas, Viney and talented West Australian Dean Kent, it will be a challenge for Jones to cement a regular spot.

Todd Viney says: He did not come through the elite pathway. Played for South Croydon and won some best and fairests and premierships in suburban football. Moved up to Labrador [in Queensland] then came back to play in the VFL this year. We think the midfield is a little bit one-sized, apart from maybe (Colin) Sylvia and (Jordie) McKenzie. He is a 188cm midfielder who can play inside and out and has elite stoppage hands and is always on the move.

Brad Hartman

Birthday - 16/11/94
188cm/75kg
Sturt
Price/Position - $102,700 Fwd

Drafted Round 4 Pick 77

Another from an increasingly long list of former basketballers to play AFL, Hartman spent most his time in the Under 18's for Sturt during 2012. He was named in the best 9 times and booted 52 goals from his 18 games, including an impressive run of 8,5 and 5 during August/September. His DT scores for the season were 54, 87, 70, 79, 95, 96, 43, 63, 98, 93, 105, 184 :D, 130, 122, 90, 104 and 62 (Ave: 92.6). His single performance in the reserves resulted in 3 goals and 48 DT.

Brad will find it challenging to make an impact in his first year at Geelong but hop on if he gets an opportunity.

Kevin Sheehan says: A standout performer for Sturt at under-18 and reserve level, Hartman is an exciting prospect with a terrific leap and an ability to take a big mark. Like so many of today's players, Hartman comes to the game with a basketball background. Although he will be viewed as a long-term project, he's shown enough with his goalkicking and work ethic that he can make it.

Geelong recruiting manager Stephen Wells says: "Brad performed really well for Sturt this year, both at under-18 level and also in their reserves. He really dedicated himself to his footy this year after having more of a basketball background. He's got fantastic marking ability, a terrific leap and he's a very competitive player. Once again he's got a very long, long way to go with his football, but he's shown enough this year with his goalkicking, his work in the midfield and his attitude towards improving, that he warranted us drafting him."

Josh Simpson

Birthday - 9/2/94
184cm/73kg
East Fremantle
Price/Position - $111,700 Fwd/Mid

Drafted Round 1 Pick 17 Fremantle

A lifelong Fremantle supporter, Simpson has found himself at the Dockers as a first round draft selection. He represented South Australia in 2011 at the Under 18 Championships before returning to W.A this year and joing East Fremantle. After recovering from a badly broken collarbone in April he was able to manage 4 games at this year's carnival for scores of 102, 60, 55 and 40. Josh's DT average of 56.5 in his 12 WAFL Colts games was made up of scores of 73, 36, 64, 59, 34, 57, 59, 72, 43, 66, 42 and 73. This doesn't elicit too much hope for his prospects in 2013 and he'll find it difficult to gain a spot in a relatively strong Dockers lineup.

Kevin Sheehan says: Exciting medium midfielder/forward with natural speed and agility. Dangerous player around goal and very capable overhead for a player of his size. Represented SA in 2011 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships before returning to his native WA in 2012 where he played four matches and averaged 14 disposals and three tackles a game.

Dean Terlich

Birthday - 13/12/89
186cm/85kg
Norwood
Price/Position - $102,700 Def

Drafted Round 4 Pick 68 Melbourne

Terlich experienced an unsuccessful stint on the Sydney Swans list before moving to S.A and joining Norwood. In 2012 the half forward was reinvented as a rebounding half back and played a starring role in the 2012 SANFL Grand Final, winning the Jack Oatey Medal as best afield. Dean played one game in the reserves at the start of the year scoring 75DT, then was quickly elevated to the seniors where he played out the rest of the season for scores of 54, 69, 75, 94, 44, 105, 52, 72, 100, 96, 149, 93, 56, 61, 84, 102, 83, 80 and 139 ( Average: 84.6 ).

Considering that pretty much everyone Melbourne drafted is capable of playing immediately, there will be intense competition for spots. Terlich will be in the mix so keep an eye on him, especially given he has defender status.

Kevin Sheehan says: A former Sydney Swans rookie, Terlich is a mature-age player who will be ready to step into senior football straight away. His biggest asset is his powerful kick, which he used to great effect off half-back with Norwood in the SANFL. Terlich played state football and was best on ground in the SANFL Grand Final.

Mark Neeld says: “We’ve been tracking Dean for quite a while. We really like the way that he was able to adjust his footy career, by going back. We think he can play straight away. He has lovely skills and is a player who has a history of playing well in big games. We were sold on him, but if we needed any more reinforcement - that was good for us.”
